1. Evaluation Question 2
How does your media product
represent particular social groups?
2. • Artists' appearance matters: e.g.
sexy, aggressive,innocent,powerful, wealthy.
• My model is
• looking away from the camera to show he is
serious and not interested,
• not smiling has a very serious expression a
• has his arms crossed in the double-paged spread.
• This could give the impression that the artist is
very aggressive or violent. The use of black and
white also adds to the effect of seriousness.
3. Social Group
• The target social group is
• teenagers between the ages of 13-19.
• who listen to mainly mainstream R&B
• primarily aimed at males rather than females
as it contains very masculine content.
4. Moodboard
• Artists have expressions which are very serious
• artists look away from the camera.
• common props are baseball cap and headphones
• sexy e.g. Trey Songz is topless which allows him to show his
muscular build which is aspirational for men
• intimidating through direct gaze and tattoos over their body.
My magazine supports this representation of social groups becuae my
models have a serious expression and also look away from the camera.
I used the Lil Wayne picture for ideas so I applied the same black and
white effect for my front cover and contents page.
