In Goodwin's genre characteristics theory for music
videos the genre of the visuals are quite surreal this is
because of the use of abstract imagery, This is probably
done through the use of CGI and green screens as the
visuals a quite unique. There are quite a few band
shots inserted into the music video while aspects of
both surreal and band performance combine together.
The song is not connected to the visuals. The editing of
the video is showing off the visuals more than cutting
to the beat. This is because the main interest of the
video is the visuals and surrealistic art. This makes the
visuals and music non complimentary to as the visuals
do not depict the music being played. There is a lot of
change of colour, grain and style of the video, there are
parts where the visuals a very clear and in high quality
while some parts are very stylistic and retro.

In the song Thnks fr th mmrs by fall out boy the visuals and
song do not compliment each other in a straight forward
way . The genre of the music is rock pop. The music is about
the band being frustrated with peoples opinions on the
band and the way they are being controlled. While the
visuals, in Goodwin's theory, are both band performance
and narrative this combination of visual genres are most
commonly used together. In the video the band is being
dictated by directors who are portrayed as monkeys, this
may be confectioning to their feelings about being directed
and creatively controlled. The narrative and performance
visuals work together as they are both intertwined together
and make sense narratively.
4. THE SCRIPT -
SUPERHEROES
The music video to The scrips song superheroes is a
performance based music video in Goodwin's music video
theory. However the music video is not only just performance
but also has aspects or real life documentary of the band
preforming to an audience however parts of the song are not
live performance to the audience as parts of the real life
performance seems to be staged. The lyrics of the song do
correlate with the visuals as the music is about the issues that
the world faces and the impotence of people working to fix
these issues, the visuals show a third would country and
various mass tips for rubbish.
5. IMAGINE DRAGONS -
RADIOACTIVE Imagine dragons is a heavily based on its story and
narrative. In Goodwin's Narrative theory the music video has
a visual genre of narrative. While there are aspects of
performance shown the main visuals are the narrative of the
teddy bear fighting ring. The narrative has nothing to do
with the song its self therefor making the visual aspect of
the music video and the song have no relation to each
other. The draw for this music video would have to be its
unique narrative and story.
