– Too much documents needed during operations
• ( electrical wiring schemes, piping schemes, mechanical implantations, equipment lists ...)
– The real-time information on the systems is composed of plenty of data
• pressure, voltage, flow, time schedule of other running operations
– The operation needs to be time and result efficient
• limited time frame to operate, and no turning back : it must work
– The maintenance technician is not the expert
• the technician is generally not an expert of the system
– Environment is hostile
• noisy, dangerous, chemical, nuclear, high altitude ...
– Operations tools is more needed than documentation

3D Immersive tools, not the best match for maintenance operation

Augmented reality is best suited for maintenance operations
Battery life duration of glass or tablet is still a minor issue
Time to solution has been improved
Change management is a challenge
Integration with PLM would always maintain the app up to date
