According to Dr. Zakir Hussain, "Education is the work
of whole life. It begins from the time of birth and
continues till the last moment of death"
Education Commission (1946-1966),"Education does
not end with schooling but it is a lifelong process"
4. Conclusion
Education is a lifelong process in which individuals
acquire skills and competencies in formal and non
formal learning mode not only in school but also
before school and afterwards throughout the entire
life span.

Idealism
• The word has been derived from 'ideal'.
• It is about mind and self, that is actually spiritualism.
• God is central in understanding the world.
• God is the soure of all creation and knowledge.
• The aim of education is to discover and develop each individual's
ability and full moral excellence in order to better serve society.
• Froebel, Kant, Plato, Swami Dayanand, Vivekanand and Sri
Aurobindo are main proponents
6. Naturalism
• Believe that nature alone represent the entire reality.
• Human life is a part of nature.
• Emphasis on matter and physical world.
• Does not believe in spirituality.
• Senses are the gateway to knowledge.
• Nature is the source of all knowledge.
• Main supporters are Tagore, Rousseau and Herbert
Spencer.
7. Pragmatism
• Greek word means practice or action.
• A pragmatist lives in a world of facts.
• Focuses in activity or doing.
• No absolute values.
• Truth is created during the course of experience.
• Humans are active beings and have the ability to solve
problems through logic of experiments and scientific
methods.
• Main thinkers are John Dewey, Kilpatrick, Mead.
