FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Weekends start Wednesdays at Harbourfront Centre this summer
TORONTO, ON (May 3, 2016) – Harbourfront Centre is thrilled to unveil its summer lineup, where
weekends begin on Wednesdays. Every weekend this summer includes a lakeside film screening,
an outdoor concert in the Toronto Music Garden, Dancing on the Pier, as well as a festival all
weekend long. It’s a pier party on the waterfront. From The Cowboy Junkies to Astrid Hadad,
Jah9 to Great Lake Swimmers, we invite you to engage with talent and culture from across the
globe. We bring you music, dance, crafts, visual arts, workshops and more – most of which is
free!
The 2016 summer season offers new festivals along with old favourites and weekly events that
showcase more than 1000 local and international artists, 11 films and more than 40 concerts.
Highlights include the celebration of Canada’s 149th
birthday, featuring Toronto’s largest fireworks
display choreographed to an all Canadian soundtrack, free concerts on Toronto’s picturesque
waterfront, and the return of the ever-popular Beats, Breaks and Culture festival – a weekend of
contemporary hip-hop and electronic music.
“Harbourfront Centre comes alive in the summer both outside and inside,” shares Marah Braye,
CEO of Harbourfront Centre. “We are Toronto’s cottage. With great views, great food and plenty
of places to soak up the sunshine, Torontonians can experience some amazing culture from
around the globe – right in their backyard. Please join us as we kickoff the weekend every
Wednesday.”
Prominently located at 235 Queens Quay West, Harbourfront Centre is a multi-venue, multi-
disciplinary cultural and leisure hub that provides the ideal locale for Toronto’s vibrant summer
scene. For additional information, the public may visit harbourfrontcentre.com or call 416-973-
