2. PUBERTY
• A normal part of human development when a child’s body starts to develop adult-
like features and when his/her reproductive organs are already capable of
reproduction
• HORMONES a chemical substances secreted by organs called the glands. It controls
many activities: growth, absorption of nutrients, development of body parts, and
reproduction, and also regulate the activities of some organs like kidneys and
reproductive organs.
• During this stage, the glands produces large amounts of hormones.
3. PHYSICAL CHANGES IN BOYS
1. GROWTH SPURT – rapid increase of height. First experience at the age of 1 to 3
years old (toddler years), and then again during puberty (ages 10 to 14). Muscles
and bones grow bigger, shoulders broaden, and muscles gain more strength.

area to trap dirt, therefore keeping the body neat and clean. Hair that left
unwashed and unclean does not smell good and produces unpleasant odor.

pores on the skin thus causing pimples. Oil in the armpits makes it susceptible to
odor-causing bacteria.

should be more conscious in overall cleanliness, and hygiene to avoid body odor
and acne. Some recommends to use deodorants for underarm areas.
6. 5. Widening of hips – females store more fats than male. Widening of hips is due to
fat deposits. Which in turn enable them to develop the physique necessary for them
to have better balance during pregnancy.
6. Onset of menstruation – reproductive organs develop and active for preparation
of childbearing.
7. MENSTRUAL CYCLE
MENSTRUAL CYCLE is the monthly shedding of uterine tissues through
menstruation.
Menstruation (3-5 days) – uterine lining thins out and shreds causes outflow of
blood.
after menstruation, uterine lining begins to thicken in preparation for fertilized egg
(5 days)
Ovulation (10 day after the starts of period) – ovaries produce egg cell that could be
fertilized and could be develop into a fetus.
If fertilization happens, the fertilized egg attaches to the uterine wall.
If NOT, the thickened uterine wall starts to disintegrates, and MENSTRUATION
WILL OCCUR.
