3. DIRECT APPROACH
Refrains from using the learners' native language and uses only the target language,
teaching grammar by using an inductive approach (having learners find out rules through
the presentation of adequate linguistic forms in the target language)
Direct method.
4. ADVANTAGES DISADVANTAGES
It follows the natural order in which a
child learns L1, that is, listening,
speaking, reading, writing.
Learners learn the language, not about
the language.
Learners have an active role.
Lively classroom procedures motivate the
learner.
The emphasis on speech make it attractive
for those who need real communication in
L2.
The teaching of vocabulary through realia
brings authenticity into the classroom.
The child learning L1 has no previous
language-learning experience, but the
learner learning L2 does.
Learners run the risk of inducing incorrect
rules.
The method can be effectively used only
by teachers who are native speakers.
There is no attention to some areas like
reading and writing.
It is not convenient for large classes
5. BANKING APPROACH
The “banking” concept of education is a method of teaching and learning where the
students simply store the information relayed to them by the teacher.
Passive method.
6. ADVANTAGES DISADVANTAGES
Teachers have the control all the time. The teacher knows everything while the
students are ignorant.
The teacher narrates and the students
listen.
The teacher chooses and the students
comply.
The teacher acts and the students observe.
The teacher is the subject while the
students are objects.
7. Teacher Centered Approach
A teaching method where the teacher is in actively
involved in teaching while the learners are in a passive,
receptive mode listening as the teacher teaches.
Lecture Method: It is the oldest method of teaching. It is based on the philosophy of idealism.
Demonstration method is practical ways of teaching; in this method teacher perform an activity to teach his
student a concept, this often occurred when students find it difficult to connect theories to actual practice and
when students are unable to understand the theories and its applications.
The biographical method is the collection and analysis of an intensive account of a whole life or portion of a
life, usually by an in-depth, unstructured interview. The account may be reinforced by semi-structured
interviewing or personal documents.
The historical method refers to the collection of techniques and guidelines that historians use
to research and write histories of the past.

9. Subject Matter Centered Approach
The subject matter approach is a teacher-centered approach to teaching where
students are more passive participants in the learning process. Students listen to the
information, participate in limited discussion, take notes, and retrieve or recall the
information for evaluation purposes.

THE STUDY ASSIGNMENT METHOD
10. - It helps students to move between institutions
and to progress from primary school to
secondary school without too many problems.
- What students learn, they learn well.
- This approach is efficient in a field in which
resources for staff development are scant.
- Teachers wouldn’t be able to innovate their
teaching style to help students learn in a creative
way.
- Students simply memorize what they need to
know in order to pass at test. Instead of actually
learning it.
- Teahchers are teaching the students to think
inside the box in order to pass the exam.
