The onscreen assessments do not require a live internet connection
Students need the onscreen assessment software on their computer
Technical documentation for information on computer requirements and guidance will be available from the MYP section of the OCC
To get started they enter in a previously provided security code into the software.
They have 2 hours to complete the examination.
At the end of the exam the system sends the students responses securely to the IB (if you do have an Internet connection, but it can be done manually if you don’t)
What I’m going to do is show you some screenshots from a task so you can see how easy it is to use.
Then I’m going to take you through some of the highlights from the trial tasks that will give you an idea of how the onscreen exams will work in practice.

Key points to remember
External assessment (IB-validated grades) is an option not a programme requirement.
Onscreen examinations and ePortfolios will reflect classroom practice and typical internal assessment tasks.
Mark schemes will be carefully aligned with the relevant subject group criteria.
eAssessments focus on conceptual understanding; MYP prescribed key and related concepts lie at the heart what will be examined.
Students will have opportunities to apply a range of ATL skills, especially critical and creative thinking.
Examinations are being developed by practicing MYP teachers in close collaboration with IB curriculum development and assessment staff. Students and teachers will have opportunities to familiarize themselves with the examinations through specimen examinations and detailed descriptions of the kinds of tasks that comprise them.
