It’s tempting to imagine that procrastination is a fairly recent phenomenon. It has put
people into troubles. This destructive habit of course has to be controlled.
First of all, procrastination results in precious time wasted, time that could have been put
to good and profitable use. There is the fact of wasted opportunities. Procrastination is all
about avoiding what things and waiting till the last minute. By doing so, a person stands
to lose many opportunities that could have been taken advantage of if only it was done on
time.
Procrastination can be frustrating especially once the person realizes that so much could
have been accomplished if only it was done on time. Not only that, a person who
procrastinates is also unable to make good decisions. This is because the pressure to make
a decision is too much and the person may find himself making just any decision because
he absolutely has to. This way, the decisions are not wise. Instead they are emotional
decisions which can ruin one’s career.
As people procrastinate, people oftentimes end up bringing more pain upon their selves.
Procrastination can ruin people’s live. Then, how to fight procrastination?
Luckily, procrastination can be addressed and overcome by taking a solution-based
approach. Here are some sollutions to overcome procrastination. First is to make the
priority, (To-Do List). Taking the time to prioritize may ease the anxiety some
procrastinators feel when confronted with many tasks. Making a list of what needs to be
done pins down each individual task and helps to slow rushing thoughts. Once the list is
2. made, it’s much easier to figure out which jobs are the most important and which can wait.
Putting priorities in order creates a clearer picture of the tasks at hand and reduces the
anxiety involved when trying to do too much at once.
Besides, take control of your study environment - study in a place that is free from
distractions. Without the Internet at the desks, without smartphones in the pockets, people
possibly finish their job faster , because usually internet / smartphones killl an hour, a
day, or more to avoid work that needed to be done.
Not only that, organization is a key factor when it comes to completing tasks. Since feeling
overwhelmed or anxious about a workload is a big cause of procrastination, putting things
in order is a positive step towards breaking the cycle. Break large tasks down into smaller,
more manageable bits and approach them accordingly. This way, the workload will shrink
bit by bit and seem much less taxing. Doing so will not only enable people to get started,
but it will also help to maintain the motivation to accomplish the task
In summary, Procrastination is not a good thing. It can lead to stressful, unpleasant days
both at work and at home. This is a fact. However, procrastination is like a bad habit. It is
difficult to overcome, but once a person does overcome, the sky is the limit for this person.
