Recycling And Recycling
In classrooms, young learners are taught of the three "R's": Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, which are stressed to the students to help the environment.
Moreover, as these young learners grow, they experience the world of technology and its products expanding while recycling declines. In addition to
technology and products flourishing, recycling has become an infrequently used matter, while it should be encouraged since it saves energy, conserves
natural resources, and provides new–well paying jobs. When taught of recycling, the biggest positive of the matter is that it saves energy. Energy is the
resources it takes to create a new product. In the article "Wastes – Frequent Questions," the EPA, the United States Environmental Protection Agency,

Though, due to the continuous production of raw material over recycling, the natural resources that are used are beginning to vanish. Some of these
resources include minerals, coal, oil, gas, timber, and water (though this material is plentiful). According to the EPA, if one ton of paper was
recycled it could save almost twenty trees and if one ton of plastic was recycled it could save a little over fifteen barrels of oil (1). Additionally, for
these products as well as glass and metals, in the article "Recycling and New Job Creation," Rick LeBlanc states that the industry will go through an
attentive process for the product to be reusable afterwards therefore the natural resources are required less. Along with Earth material, natural resources
also include the wildlife that are affected by not recycling. While landfills are overlfowing with products, they are spilling into the oceans and harming
the wildlife both in and out of the water. In addition to the wildlife in the ocean, it is clear that the landscape and wildlife surrounding landfills are
lifeless. With recycling, the amount of product put into the landfills will decrease as well as help reguvinate the environment surrouding them. To
preserve the environment for the future generations of both the wildlife and humans, the amount of product within the landfills need to decrease.
Although, the concern of decreased landfills will decrease

Should Recycling Be Mandatory Around The World?
On average, each person produces 4.4 pounds of waste per day. If all that trash is going in the garbage instead of recycling, you can multiply it by the 7
billion people on earth. That will give you 31 billion pounds of trash in landfills every single day if did not continue to recycle. (Marck). If we stop
recycling, we will be sure to run out of resources in no time (Marck). In order to effectively abolish the accumulation of waste, which could be very
harmful, we must take a concept into our hands called recycling. Even though some may look at recycling as a waste of time, energy, and money, it
should be mandatory around the world because it helps boost the economy and takes away from global warming.
Recycling is done by many people all over the world. Many states across the U.S have made it mandatory, and will fine citizens for not doing their
part. Some states have even declared bans on recyclable materials in landfills.. Many agree, and many believe that it is a waste of time, money, and
resources. This essay will prove that wrong and explain to you how, and why recycling should be mandatory and why more places should declare bans
on recyclable materials in landfills.
As you may or not know, recycling gives such great benefits to not only our planet but the billions of humans living on it and not recycling would
definitely shorten our lifespan. Recycling saves energy. In 2003, the U.S saved enough energy just by recycling cans to run 162 billion hours of TV .

Imagine walking down a forest path, feeling the crisp fall breeze, hearing the birds chirping, breathing in the fresh air. The earth's environment is
wonderful and as stewards of this plant, it is every human's job to protect and even enhance its beauty. Dumping incinerated garbage into a hole in the
Earth is not exactly being a good steward. However, science has developed the technology of recycling, and people should use this blessing as readily
as possible. In other words, everyone should recycle, and if they won't do it on their own, recycling should become a requirement. Recycling should be
mandatory because it helps minimize pollution, conserve energy, preserve natural resources, and create jobs.
To begin, recycling helps minimize pollution. Go outside, can you see the stars? If not, it's because of pollution. A major contributor to air pollution is
the burning of waste that is sent to landfills. In fact, if recycling levels increase to 75% in the United States, it will have the same effect on carbon
dioxide levels as if 55 million cars were removed from U.S. roads every year (Recycle). Recycling helps to reduce waste sent to incinerators, and
thus reduces air pollution. Even through the processing of recycled items, pollution is lessened. For instance, studies show that "recycled paper
produces approximately 70% less air pollution than if it was made from raw materials" ("Forty"). Air pollution both harms the earth and the people on
it by contributing to global warming as well as respiratory diseases. That's why every time people reduce waste, reuse, and recycle their garbage, they
save the earth and even millions of lives from the harmful effects of pollution. Overall, requiring recycling will allow pollution rates to plummet and
the environmental state of the earth to improve.
Recycling also helps to conserve energy. It takes a considerable amount of energy to create the number of plastic bottles or aluminum cans required in
the current world, creating large amounts of harmful emissions both into the air and sometimes into marine ecosystems. Recycling can help reduce
energy used to manufacture such products because making them from recycled materials takes less energy. For example, if plastic

Why Recycling Should Be Mandatory
Recycling should be mandatory Have you ever thought how beautiful the environment is? Have you ever decided to maintain our environment? There
are a lot of things that damage the environment such as rubbish, global warming, the wastes of restaurants and hospitals, cutting down the trees and the
consumption of natural resources. So, we should find a solution to maintain our environment such as recycling. Recycling is a process that turns old
materials into new ones. Most items that are recyclable are made of paper, glass, aluminum or plastic. Recycling saves the government's money.
Recycling provides job opportunities. As well as, we will be much better through recycling. The improvement system of recycling can solve human's life
environmental problems. Recycling should be mandatory because of its positives like minimizing pollution, its commercial effects and saving our
natural resources. Have you ever thought how the environment would be if someone didn't come up...show more content...
It affects alot in the whole world. There are a lot of reasons which prove that. Recycling lessens pollution and saves natural resources. It is also good
for the environment. In addition to this, it saves money and it is good for the economy. After all reasons that mentioned to make sure of the
importance of recycling. Caring about recycling process is important. There are a lot of ways in which the government can enforce the act of
recycling. One way could be a law that forces all citizens to have a recycling service. Other way is to send fines to any citizens that don't pay to their
recycling service. The citizens will be adapted with the government's laws. As well as, the companies or any other business should be responsible for
their waste. They have to increase their recycling service. Furthermore, it will be much better for the environment to have recycling service. Finally,
recycling should be everywhere. We should recycle whenever

Every day, people throw out unwanted items from their homes. Miscellaneous items like bottles, old newspapers, and even glass are thrown out and
eventually go into landfills. There has been so much trash over the last few decades that it is changing and harming many environments. Wherever
someone travels to, the individual may see trash cluttering neighborhoods, cities, and even reservoirs. Recycling should be mandatory for all cities so
that many forms of life can live in a healthy environment.
What is recycling and why should people care about it? When people recycling, waste products such as plastic and glass that are not used anymore
are turned into new products (Kukreja n.p.). "Each person creates about 4.7 pounds of waste every single day" (Kukreja n.p.). With all of the waste
being produced and not recycled may result in air and water pollution making an environment unhealthy Recycling will not only help to decrease air
and water pollution, but will save money in the economy. The goal of recycling is to make a sustainable environment for everything to live in.
There are all kinds of pollution, but the main types people encounter are water and air pollution. They are both caused by the same physical effect
from people not throwing away trash properly. Air is polluted by all kinds of chemicals through the industry. According to National Geographic
"Carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas, is the main pollutant that is warming Earth. Carbon dioxide is widely considered to be a

Advantages and Disadvantages of Recycling
Although we always heard that we should take care about our environment and recycling due to protect our world. But in the reality of life, how many
of us will really take action to protect our environment? Thus, we should let recycling be mandatory because it not only will promote the environment
awareness but also raise the environment awareness among the community. In order to promote the environment awareness, we can host come recycling
's campaign such as recycling's talk, recycling's art gallery and so on. Recycling's campaign can help us to promote the environment awareness and
let us know more about the benefit of recycling and the issue related to environment. As example, students can organise anEnvironmental
Awareness Art Project and shown the art work by using the recycle bottles and cans which can promote recycling and also encourage community
to take care about the environmental issue. With these recycling's campaign, we can let the community know more about recycling such as how to
classify the solid and recyclable waste. As we can see, waste can classify into 2 major which is solid waste and recyclable waste. But recyclable
waste also can classify into some minor which is glass, metal, paper and plastic. Beside that's, we also can know what those products are after the
recycling item being reproduce in factory. As we applying this recycling knowledge, in the same time we are also building ourselves characteristics to
become a more responsible and discipline

Should Recycling Be Mandatory Recycling?
Over the years threatening environmental issues like global warming and are making countries all over the world put into consideration actions such as
mandatory recycling in order to prevent disasters. The huge amount of garbage produced every day is fulfilling landfills quickly in the past few years,
polluting and contributing to global warming. Recycling is considered a small solution for a big problem as global warming but also can have a huge
impact in our daily life. Besides protecting the environment, mandatory recycling should help reduce pollution, save energy and provide new job
opportunities. Passing a law that makes permanent the practice of recycling in a country like the United States will promote recycling awareness,
preventing a world covered in waste and pollution. Today, many of us might know what recycling is and how good it is for the environment. It helps
to protect our world and has a positive impact in our way of leaving. Pollution is one of the most concerning problems in our society because of the
huge amount of waste produced every day. Recycling is a simple and cheap solution with an enormous impact in the reduction of pollution, using as an
example the incineration of materials such as aluminum that releases toxic gases into to the atmosphere. "The recycling of aluminum saves over 95%
of the energy needed to produce aluminum from bauxite ore and results in substantially less pollution of air and water" (Hill, 1977). Not incinerating

Argument Introduction
Recycling is something that people have done for many years. Some say that it should be mandatory that states require citizens to recycle because it
helps the environment tremendously. Others think it should be their own choice whether or not they recycle. It is clear that it should be mandatory that
states require citizens recycle because of the many ways it can help our environment. In this essay, I will argue why it should be mandatory that states
require citizens to recycle, the positive effects it has on our environment and how it can help the economy.
Recycling is when one reuses materials in existing products to create new products. Recycling is one way to conserve...show more content...
One of the many great reasons is that, recycling reduces the need for a lot of landfills. Reducing the landfills have several effects on the environment.
Recycling has a great impact on the amount of property needed for a landfill. It prevents the destruction of forests and other resources that landfills
take over. Deforestation is one of the worst problems faced today. Trees play an important role in Earth's natural cycles where they capture carbon
from atmospheric, and release oxygen. Trees also help prevent flooding and help control soil erosion. The space used for state and government
landfills cost money which isn't received as a monetary return on an investment ("Recycling Instead of"). Landfills produce an awful odor. There are
many different gasses that landfills let off. Methane and carbon dioxide make up 90 to 98% of the landfill gasses. The other gasses that landfills
produce are nitrogen, ammonia, sulfide, oxygen, hydrogen and many more. Landfill gasses can escape into the outside air and make its way into
nearby buildings. It can enter the building through an open or cracked window, a door, or floor drains. It can also get into the basement through the
soil if there are cracks in the basement walls. Soil Vapor Intrusion is what they call this ("Important things to"). While some people think that people
should recycle to reduce the need for landfills others think that landfills are not harming the environment at

Should Recycle be mandatory?

Should recycling be mandatory?
Is recycling really going green with the environment? Or is recycling just a way to go for green material known as dollars? Recycling is a method in
which materials that are not used anymore by people are processed in order to transform them in useful products. In the recent years, recycling has
caused a lot of controversies whether if it is a good way to go green and help planet's health or if it is just a big misconception driven by the media and
the government. Some experts in the issue affirm that this practice is still running because recycling was transformed into a political issue that helps
government and environmentalists to win...show more content...
Organizations that support recycling usually discuss that recycling is not a waste of money and that sometimes it helps to save and earn more
money. According to the NRC recycling creates 1.1 million U.S. jobs. For every job collecting recyclables, there are 26 jobs in processing the
materials and manufacturing them into new products (Recycling Benefits, 2010). Even thought these facts seem to be a very good support for
recycling, they are not. According to Douglass (2003), "the cost of collecting and sorting recyclables has exceeded their market prices in most
parts of America, forcing most recycling programs to operate at a deficit". It is more expensive to collect a ton of recyclables that a ton of landfill
garbage. Many local government have been in the necessity of cancelling their recycling programs because after all, those programs always end
operating at a deficit. In addition, councilman Paul Thurman of Chillicothe, Ohio, a city that dropped its recycling program because of its high
cost and little profit said, "To me, it's [the recycling program] just a waste of tax money" (as cited in Douglass, 2003). Recycling also creates many
jobs, just as the NRC said, but the problem is that in many cases the local governments do not have the enough money to pay for all those new jobs
created by recycling; and that is another reason why recycling programs usually operate at a deficit. Recycling is a very expensive

Law For Recycling
In my opinion,Making a law for recycling is ridiculous. Americans already recycle at a high percentage rate.I, myself do recycle on a regular basis. I
try to encourage others to follow my footsteps. It's not rocket science to figure out where each recyclable item goes. It's common sense. Some people
thinks it's not important to recycle. They have there own opinion on why they don't want to recyle. Enforcing a law for recycling would be a big
headache for us taxpayers and lawmakers. People don't want to be watched by surveillance cameras or ticketed by the trash police.I know I wouldn't
want to be watched . I would feel violated. Just because you put something in the wrong recycle bin. You would get fined. That makes no sense to me.

Americans Should Be Mandatory Recycling
Recycling has become "mandatory" in many states and towns. Landlords can fine a resident for not following the rules of recycling. It was made
official awhile back that certain things should not be sent to our landfills, such as paint cans, car parts, and any kind of hazardous materials.
Americans are already recycling at a high rate. Seperating the trash from the recycles is a easy way to help our enviroment. Some people might think
it takes to much time but it is really as simle as one, two, three. In many households there are 2 to 3 bins for recycling, compost, and garbage. In our
houselhold we have 2 trash barrels and 2 recycling bins, we do not seperate the compost. I don't think having computer chips or

Our world is getting to the point to where we will be surrounded by trash. There are hazards happening because of the excess trash, which could have
been recycled. Although government is not doing their best to make these hazards stop, surprisingly it is the non–governed organizations that are
trying to make the difference. Proven studies and facts have been made about these issues, so people should take this to consideration and start recycling
more. Recycling is a beneficial process that is not required globally like it should be because citizens are uneducated on the process and what it can do.
People who are not recycling do not know the hazards they are causing everywhere. In old batteries, there is a toxic lead that is causing health
problems for the Taiwan people who are disposing these batteries (Gay, 12). Space is becoming a landfill from the excess of space flights and the
radioactive supplies from nuclear reactors, which could come to our atmosphere and explode (Gay, 13). When businesses run out of space to dump
their toxic trash they go to poor nations because they do not have strict safety regulations (Gay, 31). The landfills on Earth are not the only place trash
is getting put. The ocean is being trashed with plastic bags, soda can holders, and large fishnets, which are harming dolphins, turtles, sea lions, and
others (Gay, 69). Military bases in the U.S have more hazardous waste and are responsible for contamination in soil and waters (Gay, 83). There are

Recycling is an important part of keeping this planet sustainable so our future generations can live on it. Many people are familiar with reprocessing
paper and plastic materials, but there are countless others that can also be used. Our landfills are also filling up because too many people throw away
these recyclable items that can easily be reused. Almost anyone has the ability to reduce, reuse, and recycle, but it is not always easily accessible
which is why many people do not. Although there are some negatives to doing this, recycling is the best option we have when dealing with this problem.
Too many non–decomposable items are being thrown away and it is harming the planet. The United States should make recycling mandatory in every

The benefits acquired from the recycling process makes it hard to understand why we do not do it more often. This process helps save money
because it eliminates the need for new raw materials that are used to manufacture the items. This also protects wildlife because they do not need to
scavenge through the animal's habitats to find these materials. Considering that the U.S. is in debt, it would be ideal for them to take on this
challenge in order to help our nation financially. Not only does this save money, but it also saves energy and reduces fuel use by not needing to
create or mine these materials. This lack of fuel usage also helps keep our water and airways clean. It benefits us greatly because most living
things rely on water and oxygen to survive and contaminating these substances could be detrimental to our existence. Also the process of turning
trees into paper is the most water intensive process in the United States so if we recycle more paper, the water use will reduce (Weeks, 1034). Not
only would it allow us to use less water, more trees would be saved and this is a great thing because deforestation is taking over our forests. The
whole purpose of recycling is to make our world a better place and this can happen because of all the environmentally friendly outcomes it

Recycling Should Be Mandatory in the United States
Recycling is the process of making new products from a product that has originally served its purpose. The process of recycling starts when used
products are disposed in an appropriate, environmentally friendly way. Items made from materials such as paper, tin cans, aluminum cans, plastic
water bottles, and glass, which people use in everyday life, can be separated from regular trash and put in an appropriate recycling bin. The United
States now realizes the importance of recycling. However, many ignorant people still think separating recyclables requires too much work. Requiring
mandatory recycling would prod these individuals into action. Lack of recycling leads to dramatic consequences such as polluting the environment and
raising the number of landfills. Delay is critical; time plays a significant role in waste management. The sooner American communities recycle properly
the better it will be for the environment and our surroundings. People need to become conscious and take responsibility as a society to protect the earth,
keep it clean and beautiful, and preserve the natural resources. The United States can achieve this goal by implementing mandatory recycling.
Recycling is not a new concept. The history of recycling goes back thousands of years. According to the Environmental Encyclopedia article
"Recycling", published in 2011:
Throughout history, people have disposed garbage in myriad ways. They fed household garbage

Place To Regulate Recycling
There are many good things to come out of recycling. Most things that get recycled are usually brought back into the community in some way. Should
there be initiatives put in place to regulate and manage recycling? There is no sense in regulating things that do not really have to be. Because, as it is,
Americans already recycle quite a bit. Due to things that have happened over the years, such as the "Global Warming" scare, Americans have been
more active on recycling. Most schools and job places are filled with recycling bins to contribute to the fact. They usually offer an incentive for
recycling. Like you would recieve a prize for recycling over a certain amount. These are very good ideas that could be used to make recycling

Recycling Should Be Mandatory In America
Recycling is the act of sorting out reusable materials and using them for something else. There has been many debates on if America should make
recycling mandatory. Both sides think that recycling is good for the earth but some people think that there is a much cheaper and easier way to get rid
of waste. This cheaper and easier way to get rid of waste are landfills. Others say recycling is the easier and the fastest way to reduce our waste. When
you recycle it makes it easier on the workers. To resolve this issue that benefits both sides of the argument recycling should be mandatory in America.
"Recycling in America" Sander Vander Linden ,The Economist, October 10,2015 The purpose of this article is to explain why recycling should be
required in all states. Vander Linden says that recycling is the best way for "waste...show more content...
This could be very beneficial for the earth and the economy. This could help the economy by making more jobs in the waste business. For example
companies would need more line workers to sort trash they would also need more people to collect the waste. Also states would be collecting more
money when recycling. States could use this money to make recycling easier for their community.
Many people also say that there should be some kind of consequence if you don't recycle. For example you could be fined when you throw away any
recyclable materials. I think that consequences should come with the law. How this law would work is that there would be a certain number of
pounds that your household has to produce by the end of the month of recyclable materials. Your recyclables would be picked up at the end of each
month and weighed If you don't make that certain amount then you will then be fined $20 per pound you didn't

The Pros And Cons Of Recycling
The Controversy Of Recycling
Simply defined, recycling is a form of waste management that converts waste into reusable material. Instead of being hauled to the landfill where it
would rot for years to come, it gets repurposed. While it seems like a no–brainer to simply sort what's recyclable to save the planet, it's not that simple.
Those who recycle say it makes them feel empowered because they can make a difference towards a cleaner planet. Whereas the opponents don't really
care about recycling because they don't believe you get the value for the effort that you put in among other things. Consequently, the subject of
recycling still faces controversy regarding cost and product quality versus the overall benefits.
One of the biggest disadvantages of recycling might be that it's not always cost effective.
Unfortunately building new facilities and establishing recycling programs requires a lot of capital. This includes the purchase of special utility
vehicles, recycling bins as well as the cost for schooling locals and training employees. Additionally the cost of processing recyclables vs.
processing raw materials is not necessarily cheaper. Lizzie O'Leary reported in her article on Marketplace: " . . . The price of oil is so low now, it's
actually cheaper to make new plastic bottles than recycle old ones." When raw materials are cheaper than the combined efforts needed to recycle, the
process is not economically feasible.
Furthermore, recycled products often aren't as durable as items manufactured from raw materials. Spendelow elaborates this in his briefing paper
from 2012 with: "Recycling is sometimes called downcycling when the recycled material is of lower quality and functionality than the original
material", while Brian Palmer provided an example in his article in Slate Magazine when he explained the difference between recycled and virgin
paper: "The paper's brightness . . . fades each time it is recycled, which is why some batches of earth–friendly paper have a slightly grayish hue." Due
to the loss of quality during the recycling process downcycling is considered a less desirable form of recycling. Aside from these unfavorable facts
there are also quite a few advantages of recycling.
Above all,

Should Recycling Be Allowed To Recycle Paper
Bringing the "GatesburGoGreen" to communities across the United States could be a daunting task, but would our hard work benefit future
generations to the extent of being worth it? This is a strong thought to consider. Although recycling is a little costly, its already a popular and easily
persuadable trend. Could just three bins per residence help reduce number and size of landfills? On average most landfills will be closed in up to ten
years, due to being full of waste, but that draws a new question. If recycling is enforced to three bins per residence, how long will that extend the
lifetime of the landfill? Would the effort have an outcome as rewarding as we hope? Recycling costs may be reduced by limiting the transportation of
recycled items, such as...show more content...
The darker side that I am refering to would be that to recycle paper, plastic, aluminum and most manmade products is the shipment of these items to
and from plants of their production. Thus polluting the oxygen that as humans we so desperatley need to simply stay alive. Similarly to the
polution created in the transportation of these products is the pollution then created by the plant in which the items are remade. With new laws
regarding three bins per residence, there would also have to be a department of justce alone for recycling, composting and nonreusable products.
Would people allow and feel comfortable with a police force deticated to going through trash? I know I would feel a little uneasy about this subject.
In the desperation to save the planet with the way humans have been living for decades is now burdened with the decision of in what way we find
less damaging to the planet. There is simply no way around the deteriation of our ecosystem, we must decide what ways are the lest harmful yet aren't

Recycling And Recycling

  • 1. Recycling And Recycling In classrooms, young learners are taught of the three "R's": Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, which are stressed to the students to help the environment. Moreover, as these young learners grow, they experience the world of technology and its products expanding while recycling declines. In addition to technology and products flourishing, recycling has become an infrequently used matter, while it should be encouraged since it saves energy, conserves natural resources, and provides new–well paying jobs. When taught of recycling, the biggest positive of the matter is that it saves energy. Energy is the resources it takes to create a new product. In the article "Wastes – Frequent Questions," the EPA, the United States Environmental Protection Agency, ...show more content... Though, due to the continuous production of raw material over recycling, the natural resources that are used are beginning to vanish. Some of these resources include minerals, coal, oil, gas, timber, and water (though this material is plentiful). According to the EPA, if one ton of paper was recycled it could save almost twenty trees and if one ton of plastic was recycled it could save a little over fifteen barrels of oil (1). Additionally, for these products as well as glass and metals, in the article "Recycling and New Job Creation," Rick LeBlanc states that the industry will go through an attentive process for the product to be reusable afterwards therefore the natural resources are required less. Along with Earth material, natural resources also include the wildlife that are affected by not recycling. While landfills are overlfowing with products, they are spilling into the oceans and harming the wildlife both in and out of the water. In addition to the wildlife in the ocean, it is clear that the landscape and wildlife surrounding landfills are lifeless. With recycling, the amount of product put into the landfills will decrease as well as help reguvinate the environment surrouding them. To preserve the environment for the future generations of both the wildlife and humans, the amount of product within the landfills need to decrease. Although, the concern of decreased landfills will decrease Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Should Recycling Be Mandatory Around The World? On average, each person produces 4.4 pounds of waste per day. If all that trash is going in the garbage instead of recycling, you can multiply it by the 7 billion people on earth. That will give you 31 billion pounds of trash in landfills every single day if did not continue to recycle. (Marck). If we stop recycling, we will be sure to run out of resources in no time (Marck). In order to effectively abolish the accumulation of waste, which could be very harmful, we must take a concept into our hands called recycling. Even though some may look at recycling as a waste of time, energy, and money, it should be mandatory around the world because it helps boost the economy and takes away from global warming. Recycling is done by many people all over the world. Many states across the U.S have made it mandatory, and will fine citizens for not doing their part. Some states have even declared bans on recyclable materials in landfills.. Many agree, and many believe that it is a waste of time, money, and resources. This essay will prove that wrong and explain to you how, and why recycling should be mandatory and why more places should declare bans on recyclable materials in landfills. As you may or not know, recycling gives such great benefits to not only our planet but the billions of humans living on it and not recycling would definitely shorten our lifespan. Recycling saves energy. In 2003, the U.S saved enough energy just by recycling cans to run 162 billion hours of TV . In other Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Imagine walking down a forest path, feeling the crisp fall breeze, hearing the birds chirping, breathing in the fresh air. The earth's environment is wonderful and as stewards of this plant, it is every human's job to protect and even enhance its beauty. Dumping incinerated garbage into a hole in the Earth is not exactly being a good steward. However, science has developed the technology of recycling, and people should use this blessing as readily as possible. In other words, everyone should recycle, and if they won't do it on their own, recycling should become a requirement. Recycling should be mandatory because it helps minimize pollution, conserve energy, preserve natural resources, and create jobs. To begin, recycling helps minimize pollution. Go outside, can you see the stars? If not, it's because of pollution. A major contributor to air pollution is the burning of waste that is sent to landfills. In fact, if recycling levels increase to 75% in the United States, it will have the same effect on carbon dioxide levels as if 55 million cars were removed from U.S. roads every year (Recycle). Recycling helps to reduce waste sent to incinerators, and thus reduces air pollution. Even through the processing of recycled items, pollution is lessened. For instance, studies show that "recycled paper produces approximately 70% less air pollution than if it was made from raw materials" ("Forty"). Air pollution both harms the earth and the people on it by contributing to global warming as well as respiratory diseases. That's why every time people reduce waste, reuse, and recycle their garbage, they save the earth and even millions of lives from the harmful effects of pollution. Overall, requiring recycling will allow pollution rates to plummet and the environmental state of the earth to improve. Recycling also helps to conserve energy. It takes a considerable amount of energy to create the number of plastic bottles or aluminum cans required in the current world, creating large amounts of harmful emissions both into the air and sometimes into marine ecosystems. Recycling can help reduce energy used to manufacture such products because making them from recycled materials takes less energy. For example, if plastic Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Why Recycling Should Be Mandatory Recycling should be mandatory Have you ever thought how beautiful the environment is? Have you ever decided to maintain our environment? There are a lot of things that damage the environment such as rubbish, global warming, the wastes of restaurants and hospitals, cutting down the trees and the consumption of natural resources. So, we should find a solution to maintain our environment such as recycling. Recycling is a process that turns old materials into new ones. Most items that are recyclable are made of paper, glass, aluminum or plastic. Recycling saves the government's money. Recycling provides job opportunities. As well as, we will be much better through recycling. The improvement system of recycling can solve human's life environmental problems. Recycling should be mandatory because of its positives like minimizing pollution, its commercial effects and saving our natural resources. Have you ever thought how the environment would be if someone didn't come up...show more content... It affects alot in the whole world. There are a lot of reasons which prove that. Recycling lessens pollution and saves natural resources. It is also good for the environment. In addition to this, it saves money and it is good for the economy. After all reasons that mentioned to make sure of the importance of recycling. Caring about recycling process is important. There are a lot of ways in which the government can enforce the act of recycling. One way could be a law that forces all citizens to have a recycling service. Other way is to send fines to any citizens that don't pay to their recycling service. The citizens will be adapted with the government's laws. As well as, the companies or any other business should be responsible for their waste. They have to increase their recycling service. Furthermore, it will be much better for the environment to have recycling service. Finally, recycling should be everywhere. We should recycle whenever Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Every day, people throw out unwanted items from their homes. Miscellaneous items like bottles, old newspapers, and even glass are thrown out and eventually go into landfills. There has been so much trash over the last few decades that it is changing and harming many environments. Wherever someone travels to, the individual may see trash cluttering neighborhoods, cities, and even reservoirs. Recycling should be mandatory for all cities so that many forms of life can live in a healthy environment. What is recycling and why should people care about it? When people recycling, waste products such as plastic and glass that are not used anymore are turned into new products (Kukreja n.p.). "Each person creates about 4.7 pounds of waste every single day" (Kukreja n.p.). With all of the waste being produced and not recycled may result in air and water pollution making an environment unhealthy Recycling will not only help to decrease air and water pollution, but will save money in the economy. The goal of recycling is to make a sustainable environment for everything to live in. There are all kinds of pollution, but the main types people encounter are water and air pollution. They are both caused by the same physical effect from people not throwing away trash properly. Air is polluted by all kinds of chemicals through the industry. According to National Geographic "Carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas, is the main pollutant that is warming Earth. Carbon dioxide is widely considered to be a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Advantages and Disadvantages of Recycling Although we always heard that we should take care about our environment and recycling due to protect our world. But in the reality of life, how many of us will really take action to protect our environment? Thus, we should let recycling be mandatory because it not only will promote the environment awareness but also raise the environment awareness among the community. In order to promote the environment awareness, we can host come recycling 's campaign such as recycling's talk, recycling's art gallery and so on. Recycling's campaign can help us to promote the environment awareness and let us know more about the benefit of recycling and the issue related to environment. As example, students can organise anEnvironmental Awareness Art Project and shown the art work by using the recycle bottles and cans which can promote recycling and also encourage community to take care about the environmental issue. With these recycling's campaign, we can let the community know more about recycling such as how to classify the solid and recyclable waste. As we can see, waste can classify into 2 major which is solid waste and recyclable waste. But recyclable waste also can classify into some minor which is glass, metal, paper and plastic. Beside that's, we also can know what those products are after the recycling item being reproduce in factory. As we applying this recycling knowledge, in the same time we are also building ourselves characteristics to become a more responsible and discipline Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Should Recycling Be Mandatory Recycling? Over the years threatening environmental issues like global warming and are making countries all over the world put into consideration actions such as mandatory recycling in order to prevent disasters. The huge amount of garbage produced every day is fulfilling landfills quickly in the past few years, polluting and contributing to global warming. Recycling is considered a small solution for a big problem as global warming but also can have a huge impact in our daily life. Besides protecting the environment, mandatory recycling should help reduce pollution, save energy and provide new job opportunities. Passing a law that makes permanent the practice of recycling in a country like the United States will promote recycling awareness, preventing a world covered in waste and pollution. Today, many of us might know what recycling is and how good it is for the environment. It helps to protect our world and has a positive impact in our way of leaving. Pollution is one of the most concerning problems in our society because of the huge amount of waste produced every day. Recycling is a simple and cheap solution with an enormous impact in the reduction of pollution, using as an example the incineration of materials such as aluminum that releases toxic gases into to the atmosphere. "The recycling of aluminum saves over 95% of the energy needed to produce aluminum from bauxite ore and results in substantially less pollution of air and water" (Hill, 1977). • 8. Mandatory Recycling Research Paper nah Coleman Dr. Arnold English 111 2 November 2015 Argument Introduction Recycling is something that people have done for many years. Some say that it should be mandatory that states require citizens to recycle because it helps the environment tremendously. Others think it should be their own choice whether or not they recycle. It is clear that it should be mandatory that states require citizens recycle because of the many ways it can help our environment. In this essay, I will argue why it should be mandatory that states require citizens to recycle, the positive effects it has on our environment and how it can help the economy. It prevents the destruction of forests and other resources that landfills take over. Deforestation is one of the worst problems faced today. Trees play an important role in Earth's natural cycles where they capture carbon from atmospheric, and release oxygen. Trees also help prevent flooding and help control soil erosion. The space used for state and government landfills cost money which isn't received as a monetary return on an investment ("Recycling Instead of"). Landfills produce an awful odor. There are many different gasses that landfills let off. Methane and carbon dioxide make up 90 to 98% of the landfill gasses. The other gasses that landfills produce are nitrogen, ammonia, sulfide, oxygen, hydrogen and many more. Landfill gasses can escape into the outside air and make its way into nearby buildings. It can enter the building through an open or cracked window, a door, or floor drains. It can also get into the basement through the soil if there are cracks in the basement walls. Soil Vapor Intrusion is what they call this ("Important things to"). While some people think that people should recycle to reduce the need for landfills others think that landfills are not harming the environment at Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Should Recycling Be Mandatory? Essay Research Paper: Should Recycle be mandatory? February 15, 2011 Should recycling be mandatory? Is recycling really going green with the environment? Or is recycling just a way to go for green material known as dollars? Recycling is a method in which materials that are not used anymore by people are processed in order to transform them in useful products. In the recent years, recycling has caused a lot of controversies whether if it is a good way to go green and help planet's health or if it is just a big misconception driven by the media and the government. Some experts in the issue affirm that this practice is still running because recycling was transformed into a political issue that helps government and environmentalists to win...show more content... Organizations that support recycling usually discuss that recycling is not a waste of money and that sometimes it helps to save and earn more money. According to the NRC recycling creates 1.1 million U.S. jobs. For every job collecting recyclables, there are 26 jobs in processing the materials and manufacturing them into new products (Recycling Benefits, 2010). Even thought these facts seem to be a very good support for recycling, they are not. According to Douglass (2003), "the cost of collecting and sorting recyclables has exceeded their market prices in most parts of America, forcing most recycling programs to operate at a deficit". It is more expensive to collect a ton of recyclables that a ton of landfill garbage. Many local government have been in the necessity of cancelling their recycling programs because after all, those programs always end operating at a deficit. In addition, councilman Paul Thurman of Chillicothe, Ohio, a city that dropped its recycling program because of its high cost and little profit said, "To me, it's [the recycling program] just a waste of tax money" (as cited in Douglass, 2003). Recycling also creates many jobs, just as the NRC said, but the problem is that in many cases the local governments do not have the enough money to pay for all those new jobs created by recycling; and that is another reason why recycling programs usually operate at a deficit. Recycling is a very expensive Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Law For Recycling In my opinion,Making a law for recycling is ridiculous. Americans already recycle at a high percentage rate.I, myself do recycle on a regular basis. I try to encourage others to follow my footsteps. It's not rocket science to figure out where each recyclable item goes. It's common sense. Some people thinks it's not important to recycle. They have there own opinion on why they don't want to recyle. Enforcing a law for recycling would be a big headache for us taxpayers and lawmakers. People don't want to be watched by surveillance cameras or ticketed by the trash police.I know I wouldn't want to be watched . I would feel violated. Just because you put something in the wrong recycle bin. You would get fined. That makes no sense to me. Why make Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Americans Should Be Mandatory Recycling Recycling has become "mandatory" in many states and towns. Landlords can fine a resident for not following the rules of recycling. It was made official awhile back that certain things should not be sent to our landfills, such as paint cans, car parts, and any kind of hazardous materials. Americans are already recycling at a high rate. Seperating the trash from the recycles is a easy way to help our enviroment. Some people might think it takes to much time but it is really as simle as one, two, three. In many households there are 2 to 3 bins for recycling, compost, and garbage. In our houselhold we have 2 trash barrels and 2 recycling bins, we do not seperate the compost. I don't think having computer chips or Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Our world is getting to the point to where we will be surrounded by trash. There are hazards happening because of the excess trash, which could have been recycled. Although government is not doing their best to make these hazards stop, surprisingly it is the non–governed organizations that are trying to make the difference. Proven studies and facts have been made about these issues, so people should take this to consideration and start recycling more. Recycling is a beneficial process that is not required globally like it should be because citizens are uneducated on the process and what it can do. People who are not recycling do not know the hazards they are causing everywhere. In old batteries, there is a toxic lead that is causing health problems for the Taiwan people who are disposing these batteries (Gay, 12). Space is becoming a landfill from the excess of space flights and the radioactive supplies from nuclear reactors, which could come to our atmosphere and explode (Gay, 13). When businesses run out of space to dump their toxic trash they go to poor nations because they do not have strict safety regulations (Gay, 31). The landfills on Earth are not the only place trash is getting put. The ocean is being trashed with plastic bags, soda can holders, and large fishnets, which are harming dolphins, turtles, sea lions, and others (Gay, 69). Military bases in the U.S have more hazardous waste and are responsible for contamination in soil and waters (Gay, 83). There are Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Recycling is an important part of keeping this planet sustainable so our future generations can live on it. Many people are familiar with reprocessing paper and plastic materials, but there are countless others that can also be used. Our landfills are also filling up because too many people throw away these recyclable items that can easily be reused. Almost anyone has the ability to reduce, reuse, and recycle, but it is not always easily accessible which is why many people do not. Although there are some negatives to doing this, recycling is the best option we have when dealing with this problem. Too many non–decomposable items are being thrown away and it is harming the planet. The United States should make recycling mandatory in every state...show more content... The benefits acquired from the recycling process makes it hard to understand why we do not do it more often. This process helps save money because it eliminates the need for new raw materials that are used to manufacture the items. This also protects wildlife because they do not need to scavenge through the animal's habitats to find these materials. Considering that the U.S. is in debt, it would be ideal for them to take on this challenge in order to help our nation financially. Not only does this save money, but it also saves energy and reduces fuel use by not needing to create or mine these materials. This lack of fuel usage also helps keep our water and airways clean. It benefits us greatly because most living things rely on water and oxygen to survive and contaminating these substances could be detrimental to our existence. Also the process of turning trees into paper is the most water intensive process in the United States so if we recycle more paper, the water use will reduce (Weeks, 1034). Not only would it allow us to use less water, more trees would be saved and this is a great thing because deforestation is taking over our forests. The whole purpose of recycling is to make our world a better place and this can happen because of all the environmentally friendly outcomes it Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Imagine walking down a forest path, feeling the cool fall breeze, hearing the birds chirping, breathing in the fresh air. Earth's environment is wonderful and as stewards of this plant, it is every human's job to protect and even enhance its beauty. Go outside can you see the stars? If not it's because of pollution. Even through the processing of recycled items, pollution is lessoned. For instance, studies show that "recycled paper produces approximately 70% less air pollution than if it was made from raw materials" ("Forty"). Air pollution both harms the earth and the people on it by contributing to global warming as Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Recycling Should Be Mandatory in the United States Recycling is the process of making new products from a product that has originally served its purpose. The process of recycling starts when used products are disposed in an appropriate, environmentally friendly way. Items made from materials such as paper, tin cans, aluminum cans, plastic water bottles, and glass, which people use in everyday life, can be separated from regular trash and put in an appropriate recycling bin. The United States now realizes the importance of recycling. However, many ignorant people still think separating recyclables requires too much work. Requiring mandatory recycling would prod these individuals into action. Lack of recycling leads to dramatic consequences such as polluting the environment and raising the number of landfills. Delay is critical; time plays a significant role in waste management. The sooner American communities recycle properly the better it will be for the environment and our surroundings. People need to become conscious and take responsibility as a society to protect the earth, keep it clean and beautiful, and preserve the natural resources. The United States can achieve this goal by implementing mandatory recycling. Recycling is not a new concept. The history of recycling goes back thousands of years. According to the Environmental Encyclopedia article "Recycling", published in 2011: Throughout history, people have disposed garbage in myriad ways. They fed household garbage Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Place To Regulate Recycling There are many good things to come out of recycling. Most things that get recycled are usually brought back into the community in some way. Should there be initiatives put in place to regulate and manage recycling? There is no sense in regulating things that do not really have to be. Because, as it is, Americans already recycle quite a bit. Due to things that have happened over the years, such as the "Global Warming" scare, Americans have been more active on recycling. Most schools and job places are filled with recycling bins to contribute to the fact. They usually offer an incentive for recycling. Like you would recieve a prize for recycling over a certain amount. These are very good ideas that could be used to make recycling Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Recycling Should Be Mandatory In America Recycling is the act of sorting out reusable materials and using them for something else. There has been many debates on if America should make recycling mandatory. Both sides think that recycling is good for the earth but some people think that there is a much cheaper and easier way to get rid of waste. This cheaper and easier way to get rid of waste are landfills. Others say recycling is the easier and the fastest way to reduce our waste. When you recycle it makes it easier on the workers. To resolve this issue that benefits both sides of the argument recycling should be mandatory in America. "Recycling in America" Sander Vander Linden ,The Economist, October 10,2015 The purpose of this article is to explain why recycling should be required in all states. Vander Linden says that recycling is the best way for "waste...show more content... This could be very beneficial for the earth and the economy. This could help the economy by making more jobs in the waste business. For example companies would need more line workers to sort trash they would also need more people to collect the waste. Also states would be collecting more money when recycling. States could use this money to make recycling easier for their community. Many people also say that there should be some kind of consequence if you don't recycle. For example you could be fined when you throw away any recyclable materials. I think that consequences should come with the law. How this law would work is that there would be a certain number of pounds that your household has to produce by the end of the month of recyclable materials. Your recyclables would be picked up at the end of each month and weighed If you don't make that certain amount then you will then be fined $20 per pound you didn't Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. The Pros And Cons Of Recycling The Controversy Of Recycling Simply defined, recycling is a form of waste management that converts waste into reusable material. Instead of being hauled to the landfill where it would rot for years to come, it gets repurposed. While it seems like a no–brainer to simply sort what's recyclable to save the planet, it's not that simple. Those who recycle say it makes them feel empowered because they can make a difference towards a cleaner planet. Whereas the opponents don't really care about recycling because they don't believe you get the value for the effort that you put in among other things. Consequently, the subject of recycling still faces controversy regarding cost and product quality versus the overall benefits. One of the biggest disadvantages of recycling might be that it's not always cost effective. Unfortunately building new facilities and establishing recycling programs requires a lot of capital. This includes the purchase of special utility vehicles, recycling bins as well as the cost for schooling locals and training employees. Additionally the cost of processing recyclables vs. processing raw materials is not necessarily cheaper. Lizzie O'Leary reported in her article on Marketplace: " . . . The price of oil is so low now, it's actually cheaper to make new plastic bottles than recycle old ones." When raw materials are cheaper than the combined efforts needed to recycle, the process is not economically feasible. Furthermore, recycled products often aren't as durable as items manufactured from raw materials. Spendelow elaborates this in his briefing paper from 2012 with: "Recycling is sometimes called downcycling when the recycled material is of lower quality and functionality than the original material", while Brian Palmer provided an example in his article in Slate Magazine when he explained the difference between recycled and virgin paper: "The paper's brightness . . . fades each time it is recycled, which is why some batches of earth–friendly paper have a slightly grayish hue." Due to the loss of quality during the recycling process downcycling is considered a less desirable form of recycling. Aside from these unfavorable facts there are also quite a few advantages of recycling. Above all, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Should Recycling Be Allowed To Recycle Paper Bringing the "GatesburGoGreen" to communities across the United States could be a daunting task, but would our hard work benefit future generations to the extent of being worth it? This is a strong thought to consider. Although recycling is a little costly, its already a popular and easily persuadable trend. Could just three bins per residence help reduce number and size of landfills? On average most landfills will be closed in up to ten years, due to being full of waste, but that draws a new question. If recycling is enforced to three bins per residence, how long will that extend the lifetime of the landfill? Would the effort have an outcome as rewarding as we hope? Recycling costs may be reduced by limiting the transportation of recycled items, such as...show more content... The darker side that I am refering to would be that to recycle paper, plastic, aluminum and most manmade products is the shipment of these items to and from plants of their production. Thus polluting the oxygen that as humans we so desperatley need to simply stay alive. Similarly to the polution created in the transportation of these products is the pollution then created by the plant in which the items are remade. With new laws regarding three bins per residence, there would also have to be a department of justce alone for recycling, composting and nonreusable products. Would people allow and feel comfortable with a police force deticated to going through trash? I know I would feel a little uneasy about this subject. In the desperation to save the planet with the way humans have been living for decades is now burdened with the decision of in what way we find less damaging to the planet. There is simply no way around the deteriation of our ecosystem, we must decide what ways are the lest harmful yet aren't such a radical privacy violation to the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
