Descriptive Essay On Canada Day
I think they call it Canada Day. A holiday in the middle of summer not unlike Independence Day in the United States. On this occasion, I happened to
be visiting friends in Tete Juene Cache, British Columbia, several hundred miles into the interior. Tete Jeune was the French word for 'Yellow Head'.
The name, like the town itself, was a vivid reminder of the not–so–long–ago gold rush days. Fewer than a thousand residents hid in the forests and
canyons of this small settlement that clung to the western edge of the Canadian Rockies. My friends Chuck & Gail had settled here just the year
before, buying an old homestead that included one hundred and sixty acres of fields and woodlands at the foot of Mica Mountain. Now from the
mountain, flowed a creed of the same name, the actual disposition of, was sometimes that of a well healed river in spring, often a mere trickle in
summer. On this hot Sunday in July however, new friends and families were arriving at Chuck & Gail's every moment. A holiday picnic had been
planned in front of the farmhouse. Tables had been set up; barbecue pits ignited, croquet mallets waited. Howard the Monk arrived early, bringing
with him a pot of still warm baked beans. Howard the Monk, was a man whose true vocation was still under a fair amount of speculation. Rumors had

However, leading up to the bicentenary of European colonisation in 1988 the term "Invasion Day" came into usage by Aboriginal people who
questioned what was to celebrate about mass genocide. Since then protests have been held every year.
With Australia Day associated to celebrating genocide and the destruction of the Aboriginal culture, the government must consider altering the date of
Australia Day out of respect for the Aboriginal People and to further assimilation between Indigenous and Non–Indigenous Australians, which in
contrast to genocide, is something truly worth celebrating.

On July 4th every year, Americans all across the world celebrate Independence Day, the day the United States declared their independence from
Great Britain. The mechanism they used on July 4, 1776 was "The Unanimous Declaration of the Thirteen United States" written by Thomas
Jefferson. The Declaration Of Independence was a success by using various types of support, ethos (ethic), pathos (emotion) and logos (logic). The
first paragraph lays the logic (logos) behind people separating from their government in a way that grabs the reader's attention. He makes no mention

Mr. Jefferson uses "we", "us", "they" and "he" to make his message personal. In the paragraph following the list of grievances, Thomas Jefferson
explains they have argued against the grievances but their "repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury". Instead of referring to
the government as the king, he refers to him as the "Prince" who "is unfit to be the ruler of a free people" which lends more emotional support to the
document (Jefferson). Next Thomas Jefferson unleashes strong emotions towards the colonists loyal to Great Britain saying, "They too have been
deaf to the voice of justice and of consanguinity". Those who are loyal to Britain are therefore enemies and represent the tyranny "The Unanimous
Declaration of the Thirteen States of America" is announcing separation from. There is also some logic Thomas Jefferson uses in the paragraph to
support the emotions he creates. Jefferson listed oppressions earlier in the document and concludes that they, those loyal to Britain, have no desire to
stand by those declaring their independence, therefore those loyal to the King will be treated the same as Great Britain. Finally Thomas Jefferson
closes the declaration with a powerful paragraph that calls for action in an emotional way and is effective because of the ethics and logic used earlier
in the document. The supported emotion helps Thomas Jefferson appeal "to the supreme Judge of the World" stating the purpose

Reflection Paper On Declaration Of Independence
I always viewed the Fourth of July as a special day for our country. It was a day where Americans celebrated the moment that we declared
independence and freedom in our country. As an American, I still find the Fourth of July to be an important day in history, as it ultimately was the
start of our nation. Additionally, the Declaration of Independence was the written proof of the reasons behind the colonies declaring independence.
This document was a way for the founding fathers to express their desire to be their own nation. The Declaration of Independence is the document
that essentially divided America from Great Britain. Also, The Constitution was significant to our government, as it established our laws and rights as

global citizen, all of these would mean something completely different to me. I do believe that the events that shaped our nation are important, but
some things could have been changed to better the nation from the beginning. During the time that our nation was developing, slavery was still
considerably around. Unfortunately, the views of our nation did not recognize the rights of African Americans or even valued them. So, I am sure that
the slaves and even freed slaves during this time period didn't view America the same way that a lot of people do today. To them, America was not a

Independence Day Independence Day is celebrated every July 4, to commemorate the day our new nation officially broke ties with Great Brittan in
1776. On this day in 1776, our Founding Fathers signed the Declaration of Independence due to numerous issues with our mother country, Great
Brittan. The colonies were taxed and had laws imposed on them without any direct representation in Parliament. The colonists had numerous rebellions
against the British. "The colonies were pressed with greater taxes without any representation in Britain. This eventually led to the Boston Tea Party. In
retaliation the British passed several punitive acts aimed at bringing the colonies back into submission of the King" (Independence Hall Association,

It's about celebrating the values that the country was founded upon. The Declaration of Independence was written with the theory that every person has
inherent rights, called "self–evident truths" in the official document, it read: "We hold these truths to be self–evident: That all men are created equal;
that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" (US, 1776).
Liberty consists of the social and political freedoms enjoyed by all citizens. The pursuit of happiness is defined as "a fundamental right mentioned in
the Declaration of Independence to freely pursue joy and live life in a way that makes you happy, as long as you don't do anything illegal or violate
the rights of others" (Douglas–Brown, 2014). Independence Day celebrates those very ideals of democracy, liberty and the pursuit of happiness and is
for anyone who finds faith in the words "all men are created equal." Independence Day is a celebration of those rights, and we should continue to

Independence Day and action Sci–Fi directed by Roland Emmerich was released in 1996 and starred will smith, Jeff Goldblum and bill Pullman. The
plot of the film is fairly simple, earth is under threat from alien invasion and all we can do is fight back, the basic story is the same as many other sci–fi
films like war of the worlds and mars attack. The conventions of the film are the same as any other sci–fi, there are aliens with advanced technology

The audience expects to see some type of alien ship; the camera moves up so we get a view of the earth with the alien spaceship heading towards it and
are thoughts are now confirmed. The way this shot is done and the lighting makes it dramatic, the viewer now knows that the aliens are either going to
earth in peace or to invade it. When there is a change in scene, computer text appears at the bottom of the screen with date, time and place, this all adds
to the theme and genre, which is sci–fi. Similar techniques are used like at the start of the matrix with the streaming computer text.
We are then introduced to the first protagonist called David, we see him in his place of work .Nothing unusual is happening and for him it is a
normal day at work. This allows the audience to experience his life style and decide whether he is a character they like or not. We also get a insight

After reading Dave Barry's essay entitled "Independence Day" I can tell Dave has a caustic tone about this holiday. One of the reasons I believe
that he has this tone is when he was talking about the menu for the evening. He said for the traditional menu you would have "hamburgers so
undercooked that when people try to eat them, they leap off the plate and frolic on the lawn like otters." Another place that Dave was sarcastic is

Rhetorical Analysis Of Independence Day Speech
This is a speech from the movie Independence Day (1996). A foreign spacecraft has fallen from the sky and alien species have already diminished
cities from around the world. Survivors of the alien attacks head to Area 51, where it is rumored that the government holds alien spacecraft. They

effect of this is the audience looking around and putting their differences to the side and unite. The president uses the logos appeal with the fact that
the fighter pilots will be fighting alongside the world to insure the pilots they are going to win. President Whitmore also appeals to their emotions and
values by stating that this is the second time they will be fighting on 4th of July for the right to live. The president states, "Perhaps its fate that today is
the 4th of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom, not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution–– but from annihilation. We're

Descriptive Essay : An Eventful Independence Day
The salty smell lingers in the air, the feel of the cool ocean breeze against my skin, and the boisterous noise coming from the various tourists. The
fourth of July weekend is always filled with patriotism, grilling out, and having as much fun as possible. There's nothing better than the sweet
smell of barbeque on a bright sunny day. Well that is until you incorporate staying on the beach into the mix. I was looking forward to
peacefulness of the beach, while still enjoying the bustling noise of the holiday festivities; however, is it seemed like every other tourist was
seeking refuge to the majestic beaches and festivities. This was just the start of what would be an eventful Independence Day. I still replay the
memory of that holiday over and over in my head like a catchy song stuck in your head (simile). The beach was a mine field covered in seashells of
all shapes, colors, and sizes (metaphor). My brothers and I decided to cool off in the cold welcoming water trying to escape the grasp of the mid
summer humidity. We make our way into the greenish colored water, careful to spot any sea creatures resting among the algae and seaweeds. The
water started getting colder and colder the deeper the water got. Eventually it felt as though I had been sitting in an ice bath after a long excruciating
football practice. The beach is packed full of tourists almost resembling that of a can of sardines. Many patrons look as a red as a ripe tomato during

instead of just partying because it is a holiday, and I agree. I think to legitimately have U.S. civilians understand the purpose of July 4, you have to start
at a young age, because children are the most impressionable. The government could start in schools, and explain the event with the amount of details
depending on the education level. Teachers have an enormous influence on children, and having one of their role models express the importance of this
event will impact them immensely. In addition to school, children are also exposed to social media, which affects a child's mindset; therefore, T.V.
providers could include the event into popular adolescent T.V. shows. A child watching their favorite T.V. show, with their favorite characters
describing what the Declaration represents could spread the significance substantially among America's youth. For the older generations, T.V. stations
could also play a brief documentary on the Declaration and advertise it on newspapers and the radio. With saying this, the government should not be too
strict with forcing the people to watch or listen because that contradicts statements stated in the Declaration; but, displaying awareness for this event
could cause society to pay more attention to the actual significance and meaning behind July 4,

Personal Narrative : My Independence Day
The summer of 2013 felt like it was just beginning, but it was coming to an end; an end that would last what seemed like forever. That summer I
learned things about myself that I never knew or even thought could be true. I learned how to deal with emotionally painful situations because on

As we entered into Houston traffic, I became more and more worried about my dad. I looked out of the window of my grandpa's red Cadillac and
watched us zoom over all the overpasses. It was around ten p.m., so we did not go to the hospital that night; instead, my paternal grandfather took
me to my maternal grandmother's house. She lived in a suburb of Houston called Pecan Grove. I was angry at my grandfather for not letting me go

nurse came to me and told me I could go back into my dadВґs room. As I walked through the suffocating gray hallway, I read a sign in front of the
entrance I was directed to, and it said "ICU," or intensive care unit. I knew from that point on that he would look much worse than I had imagined.
There he was, too big for his bed. His feet were hanging off, and he looked pale; he was cold and unresponsive, half of his head was shaved down, and

Africa is an immense country, with one of the most diverse cultures. Kenya is a part of that diversity. Being there are hundreds of tribes and languages
in Kenya, one would say they each have their own culture. Kenya gained its own independence, and celebrates with festivals and traditions. Kenyan

republic. Which they refer to as Jamhuri which means "Republic" in Swahili. This occasion is celebrated notably with speeches, cultural performances,
and at night, remarkable fireworks. This day of celebration unites Kenya ("Kenya Holidays"). "Eid Al Fitr is an Islamic celebration that usually takes
place in September when the sighting of the moon marks the end of the Muslim holy month of fasting during Ramadan. Eid celebrations usually
involve personal cleansing, communal prayers, charity donations, three full days of feasting, and spending time with friends and family"

On this occasion, I happened to be visiting friends in Tete Juene Cache, British Columbia, several hundred miles into the interior. Tete Jeune was the French word for 'Yellow Head'. The name, like the town itself, was a vivid reminder of the not–so–long–ago gold rush days. The mechanism they used on July 4, 1776 was "The Unanimous Declaration of the Thirteen United States" written by Thomas Jefferson.
