Work Experience Executive Synergy Sponsorship 27th Ocotber – 23rd No- vember 2014
A one month work experience placement at one of the world’s most innovative and suc- cessful sponsorship agencies. During my time I was able to work on a number of differ- ent accounts including:
 Martini and their sponsorship of the Williams F1 Team.
 Aviva and their sponsorship of Premiership Rugby.
 MasterCard and their sponsorship of the 2015 Rugby World Cup.
 Bupa and their sponsorship of the Great Run Series.
 Capital One and their sponsorship of the League Cup.
 Other accounts I worked on included Coca-Cola, SSE and Guiness.
I was also able to work alongside different teams which meant I had a wide variety of roles:
 Was able to work on sponsorship strategy as part of the consulting team which included, amongst other responsibilities, coming up with creative ideas for Capi- tal One.
 Working with the experiential team in the organisation of sponsor led activities at various events.
 Also played an in-depth role with the communications team by contributing to various client’s sponsorship PR activities, especially around Aviva and their sponsorship of the Premiership Rugby.
Sponsorship Intern Slingshot Sponsorship 9th June to 4th Sep- tember 2014
Three month internship at an award-winning international sponsorship agency. During my time I was a key member of the new business team. My responsibilities included:
 Discussing with rights holders about how Slingshot could help them with their sponsorship needs and facilitating further steps when necessary.
 Writing copy in the form of new proposals, which were to be seen by both rights- holders and brands.
 Contributing to the agency’s marketing collateral through writing blogs and put- ting content out on social media.
Client accounts I helped to manage include:
 Marussia F1 Team – a global platform with a challenger brand on the grid.
 What Car? Magazine – the largest automotive magazine in the UK, part of Hay- market Publishing.
 Hammerson PLC – the largest property developer of shopping centres in Europe.
 GB Taekwondo – elite performance arm of British Taekwondo.
 Royal Life Saving Society – The UK’s largest drowning prevention charity.
Work carried out on behalf of these rights-holders includes:
 Helping to source prospective brands for partnerships.
 Forming sponsorship strategies through creative activation ideas, identifying brands through either obvious or tenuous links.
Commercial Analyst Intern Manchester United F.C. 3rd June – 2nd Au- gust 2013
During this period I was part of a five man team in the research department with the re- sponsibility of carrying out research into multinational companies that would be interest- ed in being Manchester United’s digital partner.
Roles included:
 Contacting senior executives within these companies and to try and ascertain whether they had any interest forming a partnership with the club.
 These were essentially initial sales conversations to try and gage their interest in partnering with the club.
 Feedback would then be given to the senior sales executives who would then use it to customise their sales approach.
 Carrying out research into social media trends and would then make recommen- dations based on my findings.
 This was part of the club’s wide-ranging social media strategy so it could improve its digital offering to sponsors and partners.
Work Experience Manchester United F.C. 30th July – 17th Au- gust 2012
I spent three weeks at Manchester United’s commercial offices in London working spe- cifically in their research department.
 My primary task during these three weeks was to research potential new com- mercial partners and sponsors for a pre-season tour in 2014.
 This involved doing financial and sponsorship due diligence on various compa- nies, ranging from financial services providers to champagne producers.
 Other tasks included putting together a competitor analysis of rival clubs’ pre- season tours in terms of press coverage.
Executive Cork Gully LLP 15th December 2010 – 1st April 2011 & July 4th 2011 – 11th September 2011
During my first period with the firm my main responsibilities were to make sure that cer- tain administrative tasks were carried out efficiently.
 Such tasks included filing, sorting the post, banking cheques, ordering necessary stationary.
My second period involved helping the team with the administration of the IAS (Immigra- tion Advisory Service).
Responsibilities included:
 Travelling independently to offices around the UK. I was responsible for making sure that administrative tasks at these locations were carried out swiftly and ef- fectively and that offices were shut down on time.
 Such tasks included arranging for security to be at these locations, changing the locks whilst also informing the workforce of the implications of the administration.
 I often had to perform these duties without fellow colleagues and rely on my own initiative.
