The Legalization of Medical Marijuana
In 2016, medical marijuana/cannabis has become one of the biggest problems and potentially medically revolutionary studies in the U.S. today. It's
being discussed by thousands of researches and scientist and it is also very controversial topics. Several studies has shown that it has a lot of medical
benefits and should be fully legalize marijuana. Although, the many possibilities are endless, study has also shown that there is a very high potential
for abuse especially amongst adolescences. Furthermore, this is the reason only some of our 51 states have legalized it...show more content...

that medical marijuana has proven evidence that for some patients to have better results than from prescribed drugs. Although opposition against

NORML has several amounts of research that 73% of American's are supporting the fact that marijuana should be legal and should be able to be

people believe that everyone just wants to legalize marijuana to smoke it but, several researchers throughout my assignment are declaring it to be

Legalization Of Medical Marijuana
Is medical marijuana more beneficial than it is dangerous? The legalization of medical marijuana all but depends upon the answer to this question.
Many people in America believe that marijuana is an extremely harmful drug. However, a majority of these people may be uninformed about the health
risks and benefits of marijuana. As the issue of legalizing medical marijuana becomes more and more prevalent in today's society, it becomes
increasingly vital to examine both the adverse and positive effects that marijuana has on the human mind and body.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture declared marijuana to be a poison in the twentieth century, making the use of marijuana in medical products much
less common (Batten). Today, possession and distribution of marijuana is illegal by the Controlled Substances Act. Although this federal law exists,
medical marijuana has been legalized in many states, since the federal government cannot really make states enforce federal law.
The reason that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not yet approved the use of the marijuana plant is because it has not yet gone under the
extensive amount of experimentation and testing required for an FDA approval (Batten). As a result, not enough research has taken place to determine
the positive and negative health factors of the marijuana plant and its chemicals. In the United States it is somewhat difficult to conduct research on the
effects of cannabis because of the extensive process required to

Legalization of Marijuana for Medical Purposes What is Marijuana?
Marijuana is a kind of drug. Similar to other drugs, it has positive and negative effects which depends on how much a person intakes. Marijuana refers
to the different parts of a plant called Cannabis Sativa. Marijuana is similar to a cigarette as it is also rolled and smoked. The two main components of
Marijuana are Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and Cannabidiol (CBD). Though both components have positive effects, THC is actually the bad
component of Marijuana that makes it addictive and heavily stimulates the brain while CBD is the component that mostly provides different good
effects.
Along with THC and CBD, Marijuana houses 483 known compounds. These compounds such as cannabidiol (CBD), cannabinol (CBN), and
tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV) all have specific distinctions which lead to several effects. The Cannabis plant was originally intended for medical use
but because of the lack of discipline of the people who use it, it then becomes addictive and leads to several bad effects such as anxiety, loss of
balance, and even death.
Historical Background of Marijuana
The earliest recorded use of marijuana is from Central and South Asia in the 3rd millennium BCE, wherein there is evidence of inhalation of smoke at
an ancient ritual brazier at an ancient burial site in present–day Romania. There is also evidence of cannabis consumption found in Egyptian mummies
dated about 950 BC.

On the one hand, the correct and clear legalization will allow improving the quality of life of patients, who suffer from painful, chronic diseases or
whose treatments generate various side effects. For cancer disease it has been proven that medical marijuana decreases the nausea and dizziness caused
by chemotherapy. Cannabis also has antispasmodic properties and the ability to relieve pain, which benefits a large universe of patients beyond those
diagnosed with cancer. On the other hand, when the legalization is implemented, the acquisition of this medicine can be safely regulated. This control
will prevent people who require the plant from having to obtain it under illegal standards, whose consequences can lead to incorrect doses, low

Then it is difficult to understand how we accept that alcohol, for example, is something legal when it brings so many deaths because of its abuse
and there are few benefits that we get from it. On the other hand, it is difficult to suffer an overdose with cannabis and it is even more difficult for
it to cause death. I think then it is clear that its benefits are much greater than its few disadvantages and that its approval under certain regulations
such as the collection of taxes, penalty for use under certain circumstances, etc. It would be highly beneficial. We should also listen to the
population because: According to a February 2017 poll by Quinnipiac University, a large percentage of Americans approve of legalizing marijuana
for medical use. The poll found that 93 percent of respondents supported the legalization of medical marijuana if prescribed by a doctor, while 59
percent supported legalizing the recreational use of the plant. First, we should think about its medicinal margin, and as a second instance,
recreational. The legalization of medical marijuana will provide various benefits to patients of various diseases. As progress is made in disseminating
these advantages, the creation of a clear and responsible law will be achieved. This instance will also allow us to open doors to greater prejudice–free
research in which we can discover even greater benefits that the use of

According to Trend Statistics, as of late, 24 states, including the District of Columbia have medical marijuana laws, each of varying enforcement. An
additional ten other states have laws in place which allow only certain individuals (mostly those in controlled research) to use CBD oil, short for
Cannabidiol, a natural cannabinoid found in cannabis. Among the countries that have legalized cannabis for medical use is Colorado. In fact, more
than 100 families have relocated or traveled to Colorado to gain access to a strain of cannabis, known as "Charlotte's Web," that has been shown to
possibly reduce seizures in children diagnosed with epilepsy. Even more, there has been a reported total of 2,604,079 medical marijuana patients in
America in just the year 2016 alone. The increasing availability of medical cannabis is leading to dramatic increases in the amounts of patients utilizing
it for its medicinal and pain–relieving properties. In fact, it is estimated that five in 1,000 North Dakotans are expected to use medical marijuana as
soon as it becomes available to the general public. 92 percent of medical marijuana patients have claimed that the drug helps alleviate painful symptoms

Essay On Legalizing Medical Marijuana
Legalization of Medical Marijuana The controversy on the topic is that Americans link marijuana to uneducated, unemployed, and lazy individuals who
deal with addiction. Though there are valid points for the legalization of the drug, there is a worry about how the drug will affect the users. Although
opponents say that legalizing medical marijuana is a "back–door method of legalizing the drug for recreational use," the U.S. should legalize medical
marijuana because it will reduce crime, increase revenue, provide more research, and will help treat numerous medical conditions. Many people think
that if marijuana is legalized, there will be an "onslaught of crime." (Delmore) Studies have shown that the legalization of marijuana has truly reduced
the crime rate. Robert Morris, an associate professor of criminology at UT Dallas, said, "After controlling for a host of known factors related to
changes in crime rates – we accounted for factors such as poverty, employment, education, even per capita beer sales, among other things– we found
no evidence of increases in any of these crimes for states after legalizing marijuana for medical use" (Ferner). He goes on to say that the studies show
that homicides and assaults have decreased because of the legalization. "The National Academy of Sciences found that THC, the active ingredient in

Marijuana or Cannabis is one of the bused drugs in America and the rest of the world. Interesting accumulating evidence show that the significant
negative impact of this drug outweighs the positive effects. However, the medical benefits of the drug seem on the process of chemical compounds as
compared to the drug itself. Medical debates show that chemical compound in marijuana are the problem as compared to the plant. The said chemical
compound affects the mental and physical health of the persons abusing this drug. There have been traditional efforts to control the use of marijuana
through legislation laws, (Crick, Haase, & Bewley–Taylor, 2013). However, in the recent past the efforts and the laws are being lifted to relax the
implementation of the same legislations and the population is responding fast in accepting the legalization of the use of marijuana. The aim of this
paper is to discuss how lifting on the laws of the said drug indicate adverse tolerance of Cannabis among populations. The paper will also discuss
impact of legalization marijuana on the safety, security and overall quality of human life. Also, the paper will analyses the effect of relaxation of the
laws controlling this drug to other hard core drugs such as cocaine, heroin and meth–amphetamines among others.
Available scientific evidence indicate that marijuana contain a useful chemical that treats several mental disorder illnesses. The useful purpose of this
drug has prompted a long standing debate as

Drugs are some of the most dangerous, and illegal substances known to man. Except for the "drug" marijuana, in my eyes it is an excellent working
medicine which should be legalized for everyone's use. Another word for marijuana is cannabis, it is a versatile plant most commonly used for
medicinal and recreational purposes, the book The Short and Tragic Life of Robert Peace demonstrates these purposes well with Rob's use of cannabis.
However it doesn't demonstrate them all, there is an estimated 50,000 uses for cannabis; medicine, paper, and clothes are a few examples of many.
But the number one use for Marijuana is for its medicinal purposes. According to author and researcher Michael Scherer, CBD and THC are the

who are underage use marijuana to get high, it can change their developing brain and may affect the users mental abilities explains researcher
Bruce Barcott. But don't let this fool you into thinking marijuana is a dangerous drug that negatively effects all users' brains, because that is not
the case. If a user of marijuana is above the age of 21 and has a fully developed brain, marijuana offers zero risk towards your mental health.
However if the users brain is still undeveloped, Scherer explains that the use comes along with a lot of negative effects on how learning will take
place in the users future. However, if a patient is very young and are suffering from a serious illness which cannabis can put into remission, medical
marijuana shops offer forms or cannabis with only CBD and no THC, thus no matter how young the patient is; CBD offers no threat to the users
health and offers great medical value. This is one of the main reasons Marijuana is still illegal in many states to this day. Researchers are focused
specifically on the brain development problems marijuana brings along for the underage people using cannabis to get high and are worried that if

Legalization of Medical Marijuana Many people don't know what Marijuana is, to clarify what it is, it is a dried bud, occasionally considered
cannabis with a natural dust called THC on the plant. THC is the particle that causes reactions in the body. Another thing people at times don't
comprehend correctly is that the medical use of marijuana and the recreational use is totally different. The medical use of marijuana is
recommended by a doctor in the treatment of a medical condition such as cancers, HIV/AIDS, Epilepsy, and many other conditions. The
recreational use of marijuana is considered a misused drug; its use is for a "high" that is not recommended by a doctor, so it is illegal, sold in the
black market trade. Knowing medicals marijuana purpose, it should be legalized for its medical use only for the soul purpose to help and provide
relief to the hurt and/or sick. Medical marijuana use may provide relief and/or help to many ill people; marijuana's medical use is the new natural
drug that can help with more than one problem as in many other drugs also do. Medical marijuana is a highly used substance that has been used for
millennia and it is here to stay whether it is legal or not (Newton 137). It is told that marijuana will never truly go away. People need to create legal
ways for the sale of marijuana so it can be used as a medical herb without the common threat of legal consequences (129). Saying that more and more

What better way to elevate their pain by allowing them to use a plant that has been around for thousands of years. It is cheaper than prescription
medications, and one would not have to worry about all the possible side effects that prescription medications contribute to, as in effects on the
heart, kidneys, and liver. Pharmacies will be hit the hardest when medical marijuana is legalized. It is cheaper for patients to grow their own
medication. Some scientists are still working on how they can make a synthetic form of THC that can be put into capsule form. Is a synthetic form
safe? This is still unclear. Physicians who are able to prescribe medical marijuana need to keep a watchful eye out for those that claim to have a
disease just so that they can get their marijuana legally. Tax payers are spending billions of dollars each year to fight the war on marijuana. The effort
has done nothing, where are the billions of dollars going? Physicians that prescribe medical marijuana to their patients are not promoting smoking by
any means; they are just helping relive pain of their suffering patients. While there will be a continuing battle against medical marijuana for years to

Marijuana
Marijuana is a big topic these days. Many people want to make sure that marijuana stays illegal. Yet they do not know all the facts about marijuana.
They just think that marijuana is bad. I believe that marijuana should be made legal. First of all, marijuana refers to the dried leaves and flowers of the
cannabis plant, which contain the narcotic chemical THC at various potencies.
It is smoked or eaten to produce the feeling of being "high". Marijuana has been used for thousands of years for medical, social, relaxation, and
religious reasons. Several of our presidents are believed to have smoked it. Those presidents include Jefferson, Madison, Monroe, and many others.

The government states that over 20 million Americans still smoke marijuana. You can say that marijuana affects your health, but marijuana is less
dangerous than tobacco and people smoke less of it at a time. Or you can eat the plant instead of smoking it, which can lower health risks by a lot.
Another way to reduce health risks is by reducing smoking amounts. There is no proof that marijuana causes health problems that can lead to death
or sexual programs, but like alcohol, it is not recommended for children or teenagers to use. This is simply because children and teenagers are in the
process of growing up, and it would not be a good idea to smoke anything or drink alcohol. Cannabis is a medical herb that has literally hundreds of
proven, valuable therapeutic uses. For example, you can use marijuana for stress reduction, asthma, cancer therapy, and much more. Marijuana is not
just for getting "high", but a valuable medical medicine. Dr. Gabriel Nahas, who made totally false statistics and studies, was very biased and

Abstract
In 1996, California set a pace that would lead to today's debate on medical marijuana and marijuana as a whole by passing the Compassionate Use Act
that allowed the use of medical marijuana. Other states have since followed the trend and school of thought, case in point; Alaska, Colorado,
Connecticut, Hawaii, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont and
Washington. The state laws have set boundaries for the use of medical cannabis and put into effect mechanisms for regulation. As of April 2015, twenty
three states and Washington D.C legalized marijuana for medical use. Seven states have pending legislation. And yet the federal enforcement of
prohibition still outweighs these state legalizations in many aspects. So then, what is the issue and why should the federal government legalize the
medical use of marijuana? The discussion against medical marijuana is a losing argument against a changing culture and social values alongside
legislative rewiring of state laws.
The debate on the legitimacy of medical marijuana is being fueled and aided on many fronts, most notably research aimed at getting approval from the
FDA for its use. Science Inc. and Medical Marijuana Inc. are working on getting FDA approval for the distribution of medical marijuana alongside
Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies, which seeks

Medical Marijuana: Legalization? The legalization of medical marijuana is a big debate. Many proponents of the legal medical use of marijuana are
pushing for decriminalization in order to better the lives of people suffering from chronic and terminal diseases. Some States have legalized it but there
are a good amount of states that haven't. Legalizing medical marijuana could have monetary benefits as well as health benefits. Even though skeptics

The number seems to be steadily rising. This shows that the legalization hasn't made more people use marijuana. The states have legalized it but the
federal government has not. So the federal government can still prosecute an individual for possession of marijuana in a legal state. So the lines
are blurred for citizens because it is legal in their state but they still run the risks for federal prosecution if authorities choose to pursue punishment.
The FDA is still against the use of marijuana for health reasons. Marijuana has no officially recognized health benefits according to the U.S. Food
and Drug Administration (Marlowe 6). Marijuana is presently listed as a Schedule I drug, reflecting the FDA's conclusion that it has no proven
medical benefit and carries a high risk for abuse or addiction (Marlowe 7). Research still needs to be done in order to prove the beneficial uses of
medical marijuana. Marijuana should be legalized medically because of its many benefits for citizens of the United States suffering from chronic or
terminal diseases. The legalization would help these American citizens to live what they have left of their lives to its full potential with less suffering.
States could benefit monetarily from the sale of medical marijuana which is beneficial to all citizens of the state. It would also help people with their

Medical Marijuana: Should it be legalized? Medical Marijuana has been used around the world for thousands of years to supposedly treat a wide
variety of illnesses. A Chinese emperor Shen Nung was the first to record marijuana as a medical drug. The legalization of medical marijuana has been
long debated within the American society and government. Marijuana was a legal source of medicine in the US until the Marijuana Tax Act of 1937,
which federally prohibited marijuana. Medical Marijuana isn't something that should be used to cure any type of pain within the human body. There

The FDA has not approved medical marijuana in plant or pill form. The government will have access to all marijuana users' homes or just the

who sell marijuana, if it's for medical purposes. People who sell marijuana or purchase the medical marijuana, is a big harm to the public. The
government won't take any nonsense from people who abuse medical marijuana. They will automatically be arrested and thrown in jail. Federal
medical marijuana laws are very serious and punishment for people found guilty is frequently very low. Federal law still considers marijuana a
dangerous illegal drug with no acceptable medicinal value. In several federal cases, judges have ruled that medical marijuana cannot be used as a

United States, not just on federal property. The key to federal property is that they are more likely than non–federal property to

In legalizing cannabis, the American people will be given the best option for treatment to improve their physical and mental health. The use of
cannabis as an herbal medicine, goes back to 2700 BC, when the Chinese Emperor, Shen Nung, first discovered it along with ginseng and ephedra
which treated diseases across civilizations ("History of Marijuana as Medicine"). Despite having mainstream medicines to treat diseases and chronic
pain, Americans across the U.S. still suffer and are often crippled by their affliction. It makes sense to legalize cannabis because it is the most natural,
least harmful, and least addictive drug for therapeutic treatment. Grinspoon and Bakalar have claimed that "the simplest way to enable patients to use

Most people are physically conditioned with using opioids that it is becoming an ineffective treatment, thus causing misuse, taking higher doses
than the prescribed quantity (Tina Rosenberg). Consequently, opioid abuse is killing thousands from an overdose. In 2015, opioids had killed
"33,000 people" (Douglas Berman), whereas no overdose of cannabis has been reported (Igor Grant). Further, opioids ability to cause physical
dependence and withdrawals surpass those of cannabis (Grant). In the latest national survey by Pew Research Center assembled those who supported
legalizing marijuana and those who were opposed. In that survey, those that opposed, thirty percent concluded that cannabis was dangerous,
addictive, and lead too many people to more drugs; when in fact, scientific evidence concludes that states with legalized medical marijuana witness
fewer opiate deaths and use (Berman). This is because cannabis has the capabilities to lessen the necessity for high doses of opioids, thus causing
opioids dependence and addiction to be limited (Carey Clark). The reason cannabis is such an effective treatment is due to its ability to connect with
the body's sensory system (Mark Torres). This connection allows cannabis to create obstructs of inflammation and prevent disease (Torres). Therefore,
only a few drugs can compete with cannabis' effectiveness which comes with hardly any side effects (Torres). During a research for the documentary
"Weed", the Figi family treated their five–year–old daughter with medical marijuana for Dravet's Syndrome, which caused "seizures and severe
developmental delays" (Welsh and Loria). The use of cannabis had "decreased her seizures from 300 a week to just one every seven days. Forty other
children in the state are using the same strain of marijuana to treat their seizures and it seems to be working"

Legalization Medical Marijuana

  • 1. Legalization Medical Marijuana Thomas Gordon The Legalization of Medical Marijuana Health Care Research Utilization Marie Vasquez HCS 465 March 19, 2016 The Legalization of Medical Marijuana In 2016, medical marijuana/cannabis has become one of the biggest problems and potentially medically revolutionary studies in the U.S. today. It's being discussed by thousands of researches and scientist and it is also very controversial topics. Several studies has shown that it has a lot of medical benefits and should be fully legalize marijuana. Although, the many possibilities are endless, study has also shown that there is a very high potential for abuse especially amongst adolescences. Furthermore, this is the reason only some of our 51 states have legalized it...show more content... Patients in several studies have complained that pharmaceutical drugs that are prescribed doesn't help them through this disease. Studies have proven that medical marijuana has proven evidence that for some patients to have better results than from prescribed drugs. Although opposition against medical marijuana studies have proven that medical marijuana has proven evidence that for some patients to have better results than from prescribed drugs. Although opposition against medical marijuana have stopped millions of people with aids/hiv away from this evidence. The mal–nourishment of certain chronic diseases and illnesses need medical marijuana because it lowers the pain and also provides an appetite. NORML has several amounts of research that 73% of American's are supporting the fact that marijuana should be legal and should be able to be prescribed. Everyone doesn't believe that legalizing medical marijuana is only accessible for ill patients and not intended for recreation use. A lot of people believe that everyone just wants to legalize marijuana to smoke it but, several researchers throughout my assignment are declaring it to be extremely valuable Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Legalization Of Medical Marijuana Is medical marijuana more beneficial than it is dangerous? The legalization of medical marijuana all but depends upon the answer to this question. Many people in America believe that marijuana is an extremely harmful drug. However, a majority of these people may be uninformed about the health risks and benefits of marijuana. As the issue of legalizing medical marijuana becomes more and more prevalent in today's society, it becomes increasingly vital to examine both the adverse and positive effects that marijuana has on the human mind and body. The U.S. Department of Agriculture declared marijuana to be a poison in the twentieth century, making the use of marijuana in medical products much less common (Batten). Today, possession and distribution of marijuana is illegal by the Controlled Substances Act. Although this federal law exists, medical marijuana has been legalized in many states, since the federal government cannot really make states enforce federal law. The reason that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not yet approved the use of the marijuana plant is because it has not yet gone under the extensive amount of experimentation and testing required for an FDA approval (Batten). As a result, not enough research has taken place to determine the positive and negative health factors of the marijuana plant and its chemicals. In the United States it is somewhat difficult to conduct research on the effects of cannabis because of the extensive process required to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Legalization of Marijuana for Medical Purposes What is Marijuana? Marijuana is a kind of drug. Similar to other drugs, it has positive and negative effects which depends on how much a person intakes. Marijuana refers to the different parts of a plant called Cannabis Sativa. Marijuana is similar to a cigarette as it is also rolled and smoked. The two main components of Marijuana are Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and Cannabidiol (CBD). Though both components have positive effects, THC is actually the bad component of Marijuana that makes it addictive and heavily stimulates the brain while CBD is the component that mostly provides different good effects. Along with THC and CBD, Marijuana houses 483 known compounds. These compounds such as cannabidiol (CBD), cannabinol (CBN), and tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV) all have specific distinctions which lead to several effects. The Cannabis plant was originally intended for medical use but because of the lack of discipline of the people who use it, it then becomes addictive and leads to several bad effects such as anxiety, loss of balance, and even death. Historical Background of Marijuana The earliest recorded use of marijuana is from Central and South Asia in the 3rd millennium BCE, wherein there is evidence of inhalation of smoke at an ancient ritual brazier at an ancient burial site in present–day Romania. There is also evidence of cannabis consumption found in Egyptian mummies dated about 950 BC. The ancient Hindus of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Medical Marijuana Legalization On the one hand, the correct and clear legalization will allow improving the quality of life of patients, who suffer from painful, chronic diseases or whose treatments generate various side effects. For cancer disease it has been proven that medical marijuana decreases the nausea and dizziness caused by chemotherapy. Cannabis also has antispasmodic properties and the ability to relieve pain, which benefits a large universe of patients beyond those diagnosed with cancer. On the other hand, when the legalization is implemented, the acquisition of this medicine can be safely regulated. This control will prevent people who require the plant from having to obtain it under illegal standards, whose consequences can lead to incorrect doses, low percentages...show more content... Then it is difficult to understand how we accept that alcohol, for example, is something legal when it brings so many deaths because of its abuse and there are few benefits that we get from it. On the other hand, it is difficult to suffer an overdose with cannabis and it is even more difficult for it to cause death. I think then it is clear that its benefits are much greater than its few disadvantages and that its approval under certain regulations such as the collection of taxes, penalty for use under certain circumstances, etc. It would be highly beneficial. We should also listen to the population because: According to a February 2017 poll by Quinnipiac University, a large percentage of Americans approve of legalizing marijuana for medical use. The poll found that 93 percent of respondents supported the legalization of medical marijuana if prescribed by a doctor, while 59 percent supported legalizing the recreational use of the plant. First, we should think about its medicinal margin, and as a second instance, recreational. The legalization of medical marijuana will provide various benefits to patients of various diseases. As progress is made in disseminating these advantages, the creation of a clear and responsible law will be achieved. This instance will also allow us to open doors to greater prejudice–free research in which we can discover even greater benefits that the use of Get more content on HelpWriting.net

According to research published by the New England Journal of Medicine, 1,446 doctors from 72 countries and 56 different states/provinces in North America were surveyed about whether they supported the use of medical marijuana for serious health ailments. Physicians were shown a theoretical situation in which a 68 year old woman was diagnosed with breast cancer that had slowly spread to her chest, spine, and lungs. Next came the question of whether or not the woman should be prescribed medical marijuana to help her manage her painful symptoms. Approximately 76 percent of North American physicians approved and 78 percent of doctors outside of the U.S. voiced their support of medical marijuana in this case, as well. Dr. J. Michael Bostwick at...show more content... According to Trend Statistics, as of late, 24 states, including the District of Columbia have medical marijuana laws, each of varying enforcement. An additional ten other states have laws in place which allow only certain individuals (mostly those in controlled research) to use CBD oil, short for Cannabidiol, a natural cannabinoid found in cannabis. Among the countries that have legalized cannabis for medical use is Colorado. In fact, more than 100 families have relocated or traveled to Colorado to gain access to a strain of cannabis, known as "Charlotte's Web," that has been shown to possibly reduce seizures in children diagnosed with epilepsy. Even more, there has been a reported total of 2,604,079 medical marijuana patients in America in just the year 2016 alone. The increasing availability of medical cannabis is leading to dramatic increases in the amounts of patients utilizing it for its medicinal and pain–relieving properties. In fact, it is estimated that five in 1,000 North Dakotans are expected to use medical marijuana as soon as it becomes available to the general public. 92 percent of medical marijuana patients have claimed that the drug helps alleviate painful symptoms including migraine, chronic pain, and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Essay On Legalizing Medical Marijuana Legalization of Medical Marijuana The controversy on the topic is that Americans link marijuana to uneducated, unemployed, and lazy individuals who deal with addiction. Though there are valid points for the legalization of the drug, there is a worry about how the drug will affect the users. Although opponents say that legalizing medical marijuana is a "back–door method of legalizing the drug for recreational use," the U.S. should legalize medical marijuana because it will reduce crime, increase revenue, provide more research, and will help treat numerous medical conditions. Many people think that if marijuana is legalized, there will be an "onslaught of crime." (Delmore) Studies have shown that the legalization of marijuana has truly reduced the crime rate. Robert Morris, an associate professor of criminology at UT Dallas, said, "After controlling for a host of known factors related to changes in crime rates – we accounted for factors such as poverty, employment, education, even per capita beer sales, among other things– we found no evidence of increases in any of these crimes for states after legalizing marijuana for medical use" (Ferner). He goes on to say that the studies show that homicides and assaults have decreased because of the legalization. • 7. Marijuana or Cannabis is one of the bused drugs in America and the rest of the world. Interesting accumulating evidence show that the significant negative impact of this drug outweighs the positive effects. However, the medical benefits of the drug seem on the process of chemical compounds as compared to the drug itself. Medical debates show that chemical compound in marijuana are the problem as compared to the plant. The said chemical compound affects the mental and physical health of the persons abusing this drug. There have been traditional efforts to control the use of marijuana through legislation laws, (Crick, Haase, & Bewley–Taylor, 2013). However, in the recent past the efforts and the laws are being lifted to relax the implementation of the same legislations and the population is responding fast in accepting the legalization of the use of marijuana. The aim of this paper is to discuss how lifting on the laws of the said drug indicate adverse tolerance of Cannabis among populations. The paper will also discuss impact of legalization marijuana on the safety, security and overall quality of human life. Also, the paper will analyses the effect of relaxation of the laws controlling this drug to other hard core drugs such as cocaine, heroin and meth–amphetamines among others. Available scientific evidence indicate that marijuana contain a useful chemical that treats several mental disorder illnesses. The useful purpose of this drug has prompted a long standing debate as Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Legalization Of Cannabis Analysis Drugs are some of the most dangerous, and illegal substances known to man. Except for the "drug" marijuana, in my eyes it is an excellent working medicine which should be legalized for everyone's use. Another word for marijuana is cannabis, it is a versatile plant most commonly used for medicinal and recreational purposes, the book The Short and Tragic Life of Robert Peace demonstrates these purposes well with Rob's use of cannabis. However it doesn't demonstrate them all, there is an estimated 50,000 uses for cannabis; medicine, paper, and clothes are a few examples of many. But the number one use for Marijuana is for its medicinal purposes. According to author and researcher Michael Scherer, CBD and THC are the chemicals found in...show more content... Hobbs explains how when Rob was only thirteen years old, He began using marijuana to get high. Scientists have discovered that when people who are underage use marijuana to get high, it can change their developing brain and may affect the users mental abilities explains researcher Bruce Barcott. But don't let this fool you into thinking marijuana is a dangerous drug that negatively effects all users' brains, because that is not the case. If a user of marijuana is above the age of 21 and has a fully developed brain, marijuana offers zero risk towards your mental health. However if the users brain is still undeveloped, Scherer explains that the use comes along with a lot of negative effects on how learning will take place in the users future. However, if a patient is very young and are suffering from a serious illness which cannabis can put into remission, medical marijuana shops offer forms or cannabis with only CBD and no THC, thus no matter how young the patient is; CBD offers no threat to the users health and offers great medical value. This is one of the main reasons Marijuana is still illegal in many states to this day. Researchers are focused specifically on the brain development problems marijuana brings along for the underage people using cannabis to get high and are worried that if marijuana becomes Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Legalize Medical Marijuana Should we or should we not legalize Medical Marijuana? Yes, I think we should make medical marijuana legal in all 50 states. Why is it so difficult for our government and our american society to vote for marijuana to be used for medical purposes. There are many reasons why medical marijuana should be legal, why is medical marijuana helpful, and cannabis are my three reasons why Medical marijuana should be legalized. There are many reasons why medical marijuana should be legal. One reason is that medical marijuana can help people that are hurt. Another reason is that medical marijuana can help get rid of nausea and vomiting by settling in your stomach. Finally Medical Marijuana can help relieve certain types of pains in your body. • 10. Legalization Of Medical Marijuana Legalization of Medical Marijuana Many people don't know what Marijuana is, to clarify what it is, it is a dried bud, occasionally considered cannabis with a natural dust called THC on the plant. THC is the particle that causes reactions in the body. Another thing people at times don't comprehend correctly is that the medical use of marijuana and the recreational use is totally different. The medical use of marijuana is recommended by a doctor in the treatment of a medical condition such as cancers, HIV/AIDS, Epilepsy, and many other conditions. The recreational use of marijuana is considered a misused drug; its use is for a "high" that is not recommended by a doctor, so it is illegal, sold in the black market trade. Knowing medicals marijuana purpose, it should be legalized for its medical use only for the soul purpose to help and provide relief to the hurt and/or sick. Medical marijuana use may provide relief and/or help to many ill people; marijuana's medical use is the new natural drug that can help with more than one problem as in many other drugs also do. Medical marijuana is a highly used substance that has been used for millennia and it is here to stay whether it is legal or not (Newton 137). It is told that marijuana will never truly go away. People need to create legal ways for the sale of marijuana so it can be used as a medical herb without the common threat of legal consequences (129). Contrary to many beliefs, marijuana, whether it is used for medical reasons or recreational is non–lethal. It has been proven to be useful in many medical conditions. What better way to elevate their pain by allowing them to use a plant that has been around for thousands of years. It is cheaper than prescription medications, and one would not have to worry about all the possible side effects that prescription medications contribute to, as in effects on the heart, kidneys, and liver. Pharmacies will be hit the hardest when medical marijuana is legalized. It is cheaper for patients to grow their own medication. Some scientists are still working on how they can make a synthetic form of THC that can be put into capsule form. Is a synthetic form safe? This is still unclear. Physicians who are able to prescribe medical marijuana need to keep a watchful eye out for those that claim to have a disease just so that they can get their marijuana legally. Tax payers are spending billions of dollars each year to fight the war on marijuana. The effort has done nothing, where are the billions of dollars going? Physicians that prescribe medical marijuana to their patients are not promoting smoking by any means; they are just helping relive pain of their suffering patients. While there will be a continuing battle against medical marijuana for years to come there have been 16 states, including Washington D.C that have enacted laws to legalize medical marijuana: California– 1996, Alaska – 1998, Oregon – 1998, Washington – 1998, Maine – 1999, Colorado – 2000, Hawaii – 2000, Nevada – 2000, Montana – 2004, Vermont– 2004, Get more content on HelpWriting.net

They just think that marijuana is bad. I believe that marijuana should be made legal. First of all, marijuana refers to the dried leaves and flowers of the cannabis plant, which contain the narcotic chemical THC at various potencies. It is smoked or eaten to produce the feeling of being "high". Marijuana has been used for thousands of years for medical, social, relaxation, and religious reasons. You can say that marijuana affects your health, but marijuana is less dangerous than tobacco and people smoke less of it at a time. Or you can eat the plant instead of smoking it, which can lower health risks by a lot. Another way to reduce health risks is by reducing smoking amounts. There is no proof that marijuana causes health problems that can lead to death or sexual programs, but like alcohol, it is not recommended for children or teenagers to use. This is simply because children and teenagers are in the process of growing up, and it would not be a good idea to smoke anything or drink alcohol. Cannabis is a medical herb that has literally hundreds of proven, valuable therapeutic uses. For example, you can use marijuana for stress reduction, asthma, cancer therapy, and much more. Marijuana is not just for getting "high", but a valuable medical medicine. Dr. Gabriel Nahas, who made totally false statistics and studies, was very biased and unscientific. He was even fired by the National Institute of Health and the NIH told the public his studies were meaningless. For one experiment, he suffocated a monkey for 5 minutes at a time, using way more smoke than the average marijuana user inhales in an entire lifetime. The other studies were lacking controls and produced results which cannot be Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Legalization Of Medical Marijuana And Marijuana Legalization of Medical Marijuana Name: Institution: Abstract In 1996, California set a pace that would lead to today's debate on medical marijuana and marijuana as a whole by passing the Compassionate Use Act that allowed the use of medical marijuana. Other states have since followed the trend and school of thought, case in point; Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington. The state laws have set boundaries for the use of medical cannabis and put into effect mechanisms for regulation. As of April 2015, twenty three states and Washington D.C legalized marijuana for medical use. Seven states have pending legislation. And yet the federal enforcement of prohibition still outweighs these state legalizations in many aspects. So then, what is the issue and why should the federal government legalize the medical use of marijuana? The discussion against medical marijuana is a losing argument against a changing culture and social values alongside legislative rewiring of state laws. The debate on the legitimacy of medical marijuana is being fueled and aided on many fronts, most notably research aimed at getting approval from the FDA for its use. Science Inc. and Medical Marijuana Inc. are working on getting FDA approval for the distribution of medical marijuana alongside Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies, which seeks Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The FDA is still against the use of marijuana for health reasons. Marijuana has no officially recognized health benefits according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (Marlowe 6). Marijuana is presently listed as a Schedule I drug, reflecting the FDA's conclusion that it has no proven medical benefit and carries a high risk for abuse or addiction (Marlowe 7). Research still needs to be done in order to prove the beneficial uses of medical marijuana. Marijuana should be legalized medically because of its many benefits for citizens of the United States suffering from chronic or terminal diseases. The legalization would help these American citizens to live what they have left of their lives to its full potential with less suffering. The use of cannabis as an herbal medicine, goes back to 2700 BC, when the Chinese Emperor, Shen Nung, first discovered it along with ginseng and ephedra which treated diseases across civilizations ("History of Marijuana as Medicine"). Despite having mainstream medicines to treat diseases and chronic pain, Americans across the U.S. still suffer and are often crippled by their affliction. Consequently, opioid abuse is killing thousands from an overdose. In 2015, opioids had killed "33,000 people" (Douglas Berman), whereas no overdose of cannabis has been reported (Igor Grant). Further, opioids ability to cause physical dependence and withdrawals surpass those of cannabis (Grant). In the latest national survey by Pew Research Center assembled those who supported legalizing marijuana and those who were opposed. In that survey, those that opposed, thirty percent concluded that cannabis was dangerous, addictive, and lead too many people to more drugs; when in fact, scientific evidence concludes that states with legalized medical marijuana witness fewer opiate deaths and use (Berman). This is because cannabis has the capabilities to lessen the necessity for high doses of opioids, thus causing opioids dependence and addiction to be limited (Carey Clark). The reason cannabis is such an effective treatment is due to its ability to connect with the body's sensory system (Mark Torres). This connection allows cannabis to create obstructs of inflammation and prevent disease (Torres). Therefore, only a few drugs can compete with cannabis' effectiveness which comes with hardly any side effects (Torres). During a research for the documentary "Weed", the Figi family treated their five–year–old daughter with medical marijuana for Dravet's Syndrome, which caused "seizures and severe developmental delays" (Welsh and Loria). The use of cannabis had "decreased her seizures from 300 a week to just one every seven days.
