Summary
Finance Manager/Management Accountant
I have had a very varied work life; the majority of it spent working in Finance. During my time in fi-
nance, I have worked within the manufacturing sector and public sector gaining knowledge in all as-
pects of accountancy and audit.
Three of my past posts have involved my skills as a manager, managing a maximum of seven people.
In my post at the LSC I was responsible for the introduction and teaching of a new software program
called 'Galileo'. This is a web-based audit program used by DWP and KPMG. I was also responsible
for most of the IT work within my department.
I am a very adaptable person with an investigative mind and a good organiser.
I can work well to deadlines and work easily within a team and on my own.

I was employed by Government Office on a temporary basis through Hays. I was employed to assist
in the auditing of European Social Funding provided to large organisations specialising in develop-
ment and regeneration for the East of England.

Financial Solutions Consultant
I started at Unique with a view to increasing my knowledge of accounting systems. I trained on a
completely new system which is an advanced form of Sage. I was completely at ease and confident
with this programme but did not feel ‘in control’ when working with others which I had not trained on at
all.
Finance Manager
I was engaged at Amtek to tidy up the accounts department and prepare the accounts to be moved to
another office in Letchworth. This was to be completed by Christmas 2006. However in October the
company announced that they would be closing the plant and I was asked to stay on until the ac-
counts could be completed for the closure of the company. My main roles were preparation of invoic-
es, bank and control account reconciliations, creditor payments, credit control and preparation of
monthly management accounts KPI’s, VAT returns and supervision of two members of staff.
ESF Auditor
Prepare and carry out audit of learning providers engaged in the process of teaching funded by the
European Social Fund through the LSC. These audits covered the East of England region comprising
of Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and Luton, Hertfordshire, Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk.
Testing of policies and processes used by the above mentioned providers.
Testing evidence attached to internal control and use of funds relating to contracts between the LSC
and the above mentioned providers.
Recovery of any 'funds at risk’. Liaising with Contract Managers within the LSC.Booker for the East of
England team of auditors arranging hotels, train tickets and car hire.

4. Key Achievements
Recovery of approx £50,000 of government funding due to lack of evidence kept by the providers.
Implementation, teaching and supervision of a new audit software called 'Galileo'.
I was the High Level User for the East of England team and supported the team on most IT issues.

Key Achievements
I managed the Finance team through some very difficult times including the sudden death of my line
manager (Finance Director) and then closely followed by 'Reshaping' which resulted in the redundan-
cies of all three Finance personnel.
As we were going through the 'Reshaping' my line manager was not replaced so I had to manage all
the Finance decisions that he would have made.
The Finance Manager role was moved to St Albans so I decided to relocate across to the PFA
(Provider Financial Assurance) team within the Peterborough office.
Management Accountant
Supervision of ledgers leading to preparation of Monthly Management accounts.
Management of 7 personnel including roles of Credit Controller, Purchase and Sales Ledger Clerks,
Payroll Clerk and 3 assistants. Control and supervision of monthly payroll.
Monthly forecasting and budgeting. Assets register control. Assisting HR in hiring of personnel.
Regular personnel appraisals and objective setting.
Member of management team reporting on management accounts and variances on a monthly basis.
Key Achievements
I started my employment at Mondi as Assistant Accountant in 2000 which I did for approx 10 months.
Mondi then went from being a local office within a National Structure to becoming a Regional office
covering the East of England. The Management Accountant was promoted to Area Finance Director
and I was appointed Management Accountant for our region.
