1. Knowledge is power. As a student
of Centennial College, I always can
acquire high quality education here.
My major is International Business;
as a result, I have six courses
which relative to business this
semester, such as Business
Communication, International
Business Concept and Principles of
Marketing. These courses are
cornerstones of my career in the
future, and they are extremely
interesting. We had one team
School Life
Colorful
project in the Marketing course; we
successfully create a new product
called “Smart Pen” which can
directly memorize every word that
people write in the memory card.
By using it, people do not need to
input the data into the computer
any more. It was a very good
experience, and I really like
working in a team, because
brainstorm always help me come
up good ideas.
2. Every student makes great efforts to
acquire academic success, includes me.
I gained a Bachelor Degree of English
from Sun Yat-sen University and a
Diploma of Bilingual Secretary from
Guangzhou University. These are both
milestones of my life, because they help
me to start my career. When I was at
school, I concentrated on every course
and assignment; I never ignored any
question that relative to the course, I
thought over the questions and asked
teachers immediately. At the same time, I
always participated in group activity and
volunteered in charities.
With the instructions and helps from the
teachers and classmates, I was named
as Outstanding Students of Sun Yat-sen
University in 2010; I won Second
Scholarship of Guangzhou University in
2006 and 2007. Meanwhile, I was also
the third winner of Essay Competition of
Guangzhou University in 2005.

3. 175.5 Volunteer Hours
As an international student,
accumulating volunteer experience is very
important. I have volunteered in tens of
non-profit organizations and charities. I
cherished every volunteer experience,
because each of them is previous.
Volunteering is the best way to undertake
the social responsibility and express my
care to the other people who are in need.
Meanwhile, I also can improve myself
comprehensively and gain knowledge.
Ontario Summer Game 2012 was one the
unforgettable experience for me. It was a
large scale sports event in Canada, and it
was the first time that I volunteered as a
captain. I arranged the position for every
volunteer three weeks before the game;
then I sent them reminders of their shifts.
During the game, in order to provide the
best service, I encouraged the other
volunteers and worked with them. Finally,
we gained a lot of favorable comments
from the sponsor and visitors.
4. Toronto Special Events-Best
Way to Improve Myself
Toronto Special Events, which
produces more than 30 festivals
and events every year, is a full-
service section of the City of
Toronto's economic development
and culture division. It was my
great pleasure to be a volunteer of
them. I volunteered in Doors Open
Toronto, Canada Day and Nuit
Blanche this year, and I really
enjoy every minute that I spent
there. Doors Open Toronto is a
great opportunity to explore
Toronto's buildings and discover
the story behind every door. I am
very interested in Casa Loma’s
history; as a result, I chose to be a
guide who presents its history to
visitors. I was very happy to
communicate with the visitors and
shared the information with them.
On May 27th, We successful
serviced thousands of people and
gained a lot of positive feedbacks.
5. On-Campus Work Experience
Working in Centennial College
Student Association Incorporated
is a previous school and even a
work experience for me. I have
serviced in SSCAI over eleven
months. I provide tasty and
nutritious meals to the students,
teachers and staffs in Centennial
College. Casher and cook are the
main positions that I am taking. It is
a very challenge work for me.
Being a casher; I have to always
keep my mind very fresh, so that I
can make a prompt reaction on
money. Meanwhile, by learning
from the managers and co-
workers, my cooking and
communication skill have been
improve. Because of the tasty food
and good service, more and more
people choose Student Center to
have meals.
