aspects of the research project”.
Introduction:
Mostly, research work is presented in a written form. The practical utility of research study
depends heavily on the way it is presented to those who are expected to act on the basis of
research findings. Research report is a written document containing key aspects of research
project.
Research report is a medium to communicate research work with relevant people. It is also a
good source of preservation of research work for the future reference. Many times, research
findings are not followed because of improper presentation. Preparation of research report is
not an easy task. It is an art. It requires a good deal of knowledge, imagination, experience, and
expertise. It demands a considerable time and money.
Report Format:
There is no one best format for all reports. Format depends on several relevant variables. One
must employ a suitable format to create desirable impression with clarity. Report must be
attractive. It should be written systematically and bound carefully. A report must use the format
(often called structure) that best fit the needs and wants of its readers. Normally, following
format is suggested as a basic outline, which has sufficient flexibly to meet the most situations.
Research report writing:
1. Title page:
It contains title name of the author and submission date etc.
2.Contents:
It contains the list of sections, subsections etc.
3.Executive Summary:
It is an over view of the research mostly consists of two to four paragraphs. Its main
purpose is to seek attention of the reader.

i. Purpose:
It specifies the objectives of the report. This part also includes that what the research
recommends.
ii. Background:
It describes the situation or issue which is the reason of investigation. It can have reference of
newspapers or other researches.
iii. Method of investigation:
It tells about the ways the research was conducted and is usually called primary data as it is
discovered by the author of the paper.
iv. Scope:
The Scope describes all the areas of research conducted. It may include reasons and
consequences.
4.Findings and Results:
These are aimed to summarize, analyze and comment the facts and information obtained during
the research. You shouldn’t include too much information not to bury the most important
results.
5.Research Report Conclusion:
The Conclusion contains deductions based on your findings, and logically leads to the last body
section of the research report called Recommendations.
6.Recommendations:
These are the assumptions suggested based on the research report conclusions. This part shows
how the findings might be applied.
7.References and bibliography:
In this we will provide a list of authors and papers cited in the report. All the references should
be noted here in this section.
