JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
THERAPY SERVICES
• Responsible for
o Detailed Initial Assessment
o Treatment planning
o Implementation of Therapy
For Pediatric conditions like Autism Spectrum Disorder, Sensory Integration
Dysfunction, Cerebral Palsy, Delayed Developmental Disorder, Down
Syndrome, Mental Retardation, ADHD, ADD, Learning Disability, Infantile
Hemiplegia, Epilepsy, Visual Impairment, Muscular Dystrophy, etc
• Discussing with Parents, Special educators regarding the Planning of Goals and
Intervention Program
• Training the parents or family members to carry out Therapy activities and follow up
• Home visits for adaptations and modification of home environment according to the
sensory needs of the child
• ADL – Basic and Instrumental – Standardized Assessment and Treatment strategies
• Assessment of Hand function using Standardized Scales – Hand writing and Fine
Motor skills and Training for those among Learning Disabled, ADD, ADHD, CP etc.,

• Suggestion and Modification of seating arrangements, Writing kit and Proper
Positioning of the child in the class room according to his needs
• Conduct and participate in review meeting with parents, teachers, and other team
members
• Monitoring and guiding other therapists (newly appointed), in their therapy program
and directing/training them in handling techniques
• Maintaining Documents and Reports of children attending Occupational Therapy
• Allotting clients to Therapists according to their abilities by discussing with HOD
• Fix Appointments for Parents and others with HOD for Consultation, Review and
also be a part of it
• Detailed Initial Assessment, Review of Goals every month and Reporting it to HOD
• Documentation of Initial Assessment, Review the goals for each month, Prognosis
report, Home program
• Preparing monthly report of children regarding their prognosis and future goals to be
worked on
• Discussing Therapy Program and Reporting it to HOD
• List of Therapies Incorporated during Program planning are
o Sensory Integration Therapy
o Play Therapy
o Group Therapy
o Behavior Modification Therapy
o ADL Training
TRAINING SERVICES
• To train other Therapists in assessment, identifying problem components,
improvising/developing/planning intervention plans and use of proper and
appropriate handling techniques, Use of Standardized Assessment Methods –
Standardized Scales and Treatment Strategies
• To train, suggest the special educators in providing appropriate classroom
environment for children with special sensory needs
• To train the parents in coping with the sensory needs of the child and handling
techniques
SCHOOL BASED RESPONSIBILITIES

Occupational Therapist (BOT)
• To do complete assessment of the child along with the information gathered from
the respected Parents, Teachers, Care givers and those who are closely related to
the child
• To plan the (short term and long term) IEP goals
• To Prioritize the goals by discussing with Parents and Teachers
• To be an active participant in IEP Meet to discuss with the Team Members
regarding the Intervention program
• To document the Initial Assessment and Therapy program of each child
• To review the goals for each term and have review meeting with parents regarding
the prognosis of the child along with other team members
• To suggest Home Program with certain activities that can help the child at home
• Train or demonstrate the home program to the parents
• To go for Home visits and suggest some environmental modification to improve
the child’s independency in performing his/her tasks
• Participate in the weekly meetings with other team members to discuss the
progress and provide suggestions in handling any critical children
• Coordinate in all the welfare activities like cultural shows, plan outing for the
children once in a term
OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• To Plan, Organize and Conduct Gross Motor Activities for each class which is
reviewed every month
• To Plan, Organize and Conduct Group Gross Motor Activities for the whole
school every week
• To plan games for the Sports day event such that all children can participate in the
events according to their age limit and category of disability
• To Organize and Conduct the sports day event
• To participate in all the In-service program and inter departmental meeting as a
representative of the Occupational Therapy Department
• To provide the update of the meeting to other Therapists during the weekly
Therapists’ meet
DOCUMENTATION
• Documenting all the details of Initial Assessment, Therapy Program, Home
Program, Training, Follow-up, review report and preparing final/termination
report for each child

activities conducted every month
• To maintain proper documentation of the Inventory and requirement list
