1. The document presents research on assessing the efficacy of mnemonics, chunking, and mind-mapping techniques in enhancing memory based on preferred learning styles of first-year undergraduate nursing students. 2. A sample of 100 nursing students from 3 colleges in Pune, India were assessed for their preferred learning style using a questionnaire and pre-tested on their memory of the nervous system. 3. The students were then taught the nervous system using mnemonics, chunking, and mind-mapping techniques. After 7 days, a post-test was administered to assess the efficacy of these memory enhancement techniques on learning.

*Mnemonics is one of the oldest technique used for
encoding and remembering information and
mnemonics have been proven to be very helpful in
learning the hybrid introductory statistics course in
Eastern United States University (Mocko Megan,
2017).

*Chunking on other hand helps the learner to retain
information by breaking the information into bits and
learning it bit by bit, A small- scale exploratory study
conducted by Mine Munyofu, (2007) revealed that
chunking strategies facilitated higher enhanced learning.

Mind-mapping is the process of creating mind-maps
usually with a central idea placed in the middle and
associated ideas arranged around it and it is said to have
a positive effect on teaching and learning (Ying Liu
2014).

A descriptive and a pre-experimental one group pre-test and post-
test research design was adopted for this study.
SAMPLE AND SETTING
1ST year undergraduate nursing students
Symbiosis College of Nursing, St. Andrews College of Nursing
and Temi Grant Institute of Nursing Education, (Pune)
SIZE:
A simple random sampling technique was used to fetch a sample of
100.

MATERIALAND METHODS:
The participants of this study comprised of who had
attended lectures on Nervous System from their
respective teachers.

assess the preferred
learning styles of the

into the four types of
learners such as Activists,
Pragmatist, Reflector and
Theorist depending on

CONCLUSION:
This study concludes that students can have
preference for different types of learning styles but
this Memory Enhancement Techniques will
drastically enhance their memory and assist them to
have better academic achievements and scores.
Keeping in view the significance of study techniques
every institution should encourage their pupils to
adopt such memory enhancement techniques to
make their learning easier, better and effective in the
long run.
