• Hallow organ.
• Situated just below the diaphragm on the left
side of abdominal cavity.
• Can expand to 1-1.5 L of solids and liquids.
• Further capable of expanding up to 4-5 L.

• Outer serous layer: peritoneum
• Muscular layer :3 layers of smooth muscle fibers
inner oblique, middle circular, outer longitudinal.
• Sub mucus layer: blood vessels, lymph, meissner
plexus etc.
• Mucus layer: 2 mm thickness, gastric pits
