The number of literary translations into English grew by two-thirds between 1990 and 2012, accounting for a peak of 5.23% of the whole in 2011 against an average of just 3%. Specialist foreign-fiction publishers, such as Quercus, Pereine and Pushkin, have all sprung up in the past decade or so.

This document is a project report by Shaily Goyar, a first year fashion design student, on using elements of design in Corel Draw. It discusses various line elements like straight lines, curved lines, dotted lines, thick lines, thin lines, vertical lines, diagonal lines, and zigzag lines. It explains how each line element is used in fashion designs and what psychological effects they create, such as lengthening or shortening the figure. The report provides examples of where different line elements may be used, such as on seams, pockets, collars, and fabric patterns. It aims to help fashion and graphic designers understand how to employ line elements in their creations.

2. Design is all about observation and idea
generation. Everywhere I turn I see color,
texture and patterns. I always had attracted
towards colors, conceptual designs and up
cycling concept where I where a variety of
texture, colors and style were used. I handed
my skills later in this field and made my
career. Today I want to excel in this field and
develop not only beautiful but functional
designs to help make people feel more
comfortable and confident.

5. Synopsis
During my course of study I learned fashion market and design basic to achieve the needs and desires of my clients.
Also garment engineering and designing the surface are important aspects to be learned to manipulate these basic in
own creation.
One more collection is there on tie and dye .
I request you to kindly go through my Portfolio page.
I have tried my level best to bring out the best of my knowledge gained at Dezyne E’cole College.
I'm inspired with conceptual influence than I made fashion markets research in which I collected all the designing areas
so that I can work upon, while doing this I m inspired with fringes. I worked upon my own collection where I was given
a case study to design a collection for young girl, in which i designed One piece garment in this garment I cut triangles
and join them with eyelets and codes attached it as a yoke on front. I made this dress without using stitching on it.
Not only this I worked upon one more collection in which I was inspired from up cycling influence, Up cycling is a
great concept for reducing pollution of our country.

12. CollectionIntroduction
Don’t design for designers, design for peoples.
What is collection
A collection is a range of garment, accessories or product that are designed and
produce for sale to retailers or directly to customers. this may be inspired by
trend, theme or design direction reflecting cultural and social influences.
Successful designer, manufacturers or retailers have clear understanding of their customers ‘need as well as understanding
their position in competitive market. In order to gain an understanding fashion there is a need to conduct a ‘comp shop’
to compare the stock with competitors. Some costumers are inspirational that knows as muse who embodies the designer
style or approach to fashion.
By careful investigation and competitors analysis. Designers can begin to identify a specific market area and customers for
fashion vision.
When developing a collection with a staff team the designer will begin by explaining the overall look and theme of
collection. A key part of designers role is sourcing fabric and premier vision is the most famous in fashion fabrics trend
exhibitions and manufacturers across the world.
As fashion has evolved information source are now widely available online, the trend forecasting industry has responded
to provide a wide range of product. This includes trend intelligence, customer trend all available subscription.
Some designers have own archive of past collection that may be their part of new collection.
It is possible to group common themes in fashion those which influence the creative process in a collection.. Recurring
influence includes traditional costume, active sports, work wear, the military, politics and futurism.
13. CollectionIntroduction
Don’t design for designers, design for peoples.
Different influences are discussed below;
Conceptual influence: This may credited to the Japanese designers
rei kawakubo, Hussein etc.
Conceptual collection are often beautiful, timeless, ageless, and dislocated from
most visual narratives.
Form and function: functional garment such as military wear and expedition clothing have influence fashion designers.
Work wear: this origin of the source is Levis strauss. The cloth traditional construction details can be reworked with
endless possibilities.
Sports wear: this proved successful at a time when exercise and healthier lifestyle were beginning to dictate a new style
of clothing.
Futuristic influence: This influence are no longer use historical reference on this basis to many designers over depend on
them restricting their development as innovative designers. This can be obvious in its presentation but, more importantly
it is about breaking new ground, taking in new direction.
Political influence: fashion reflects society and designers will often reference political change in their collection.
Messages through clothes that wear in this influence can be subversive or can be bold to create a reaction.
Archivisim: This refers to way in which designers look back to previous collection for the inspiration. The original design
aesthetic of well established labels may be revisited decades later with collection referencing the same design influence
and detailing.
Global influence: Since the 1960 international travel has become affordable and accessible to majority of the developed

World. Some designers have developed distinctive identities based on
celebration of international, cultural influence for garment fabric and color.
How it is made
For making collection we have to establish the purpose of collection and market aiming.
Then is to find a theme to stimulate a visual interpretation a intense research process follows when
often quite vague ideas have to pinned down and direction of a collection established resulting in the
right choice of fabric, color an silhouette.
A story of mind board is then put together to clarify intensions and help to do work easily then visually
lay out the size and diversity of each story and entire range
Here then designers takes place. Design are chosen , altered and redrawn as they evolve a well
balanced collection.
15. `
Design a range of 4 designs for young girl of age 15-25 years . Design should be
in current trend and garments created must use have various elements and
texture.
Case StudyIntroduction
Don’t design for designers, design for peoples.
You are required to produce 4 design in full colour and all designs should ne illustrated as working drawings .
Consideration should be given to design – including construction as well as surface interest of 3 dimensional Garment
show back and front view- obligatory, and side view if necessary.
Develop your design idea with due consideration of media use and present the ideas for your portfolio they may be of any
shape or size as long as they fit into an A4 portfolio and should all be created using various medias like Photoshop , Corel
draw, illustrator .

MUSE is a person or personality force who is the source of
inspiration for a creative artist.
Muse are the personalities that made designers famous.
So as student I’m choosing my muse to make my design alive,
she is a college going girl who is unstoppable, bold, has great
personality so I believe she is prefect for making my collection
more captivation.

21. In order to gain an understanding of current fashion stock and range across market levels, designers will conduct“ COMP SHOP”.
Being a student its not possible for me to conduct a comp shop so I can do it on my level to go through all the brands, retail
outlets, online websites of fashion stores this will help me out to gain all the information about current market.
BUYERS PLAY THE IMPORTANY ROLE IN MAKING A COLLECTION
By careful investigation and competitors analysis, designers can begin to identify a specific market area and customer for their
fashion vision

MASS MARKETDon’t design for designers, design for peoples.
MASS MARKET
The move into ready-to-wear
clothing by designers meant that
they could offer their stylish
designer and high quality to wider
audience.
22. These are brands which produce for the
masses. Readily available for anyone and
everyone who is on a limited budget still
wants to keep in trend.
MASS MARKET
Mass market or street fashion is the market area
in which most people buy their clothes. New
fashion can be in the high street store extremely
quickly.
WHY MASSMARKET?
Today in the fashion industry relies
more on mass market sales. This
market produce clothes in large
quantity and standard sizes for a
wide range of customers.
IDEAL FOR A YOUNG GIRL
BECAUSE:- Designers use
inexpensive materials.
Creatively made.
Produce affordable fashion.
Economical.
Sold it more cheaply.
Time
More variation in garment.
More profit.
MASS MARKET IN INDIA
In emerging markets
around the world, the
spending power of
consumers is rapidly
changing the retail
industry, both globally and
locally. Multinational
retailers seeking new
sources of growth are
watching the mass markets
of Brazil, China, and India,.
23. WHILE ANALYSING THE MARKET I AM SUPPOSED TO GIVE COSTING
• You should be realistic when planning and costing your collection
• fabrics, finish and trims should reflect a realism within your chosen market.
• Cost should be economical according to the market{mass}.
• One must consider the fact that we are designing for a young girl so, obviously she would
love to buy cloths which are having economical prices. {should be under 1000 rupees }.
CostGARMENTcollection may can cost huge amount of money to
produce, but this is not prerequisite for success.
24. OnlineMARKET RESEARCH
Here are the places where I did my online research.
DESIGN is not just what it looks and feels like.
DESIGN is how it works.
25. OFFlineMARKET RESEARCH
Here are the places where I did my offline research
DESIGN is not just what it looks and feels like.
DESIGN is how it works.
28. Fashion Research will form the basis for your collection and you need to gather an exhaustive range of source materials.
These will include specific investigation into fabric, colour silhouette shapes and detail as well as live events and images in the
form of drawings and photographs in fact a broad coverage of everything that will inform and influence your thinking and decision
making.
Here are some recent overall look details based on market research -

Adults work day and night so
the fabric that is to be chosen
for them must be one that is
good absorbent and smooth.
Generally, cotton, poplin, thin
cambric must be used.
Fabric
Clothing according to the
latest trend with a perfect
color combination and the
appropriate fabric is very
important. It is the
appropriate fabric that

The fabric is the most
important part of the outfit. A

Fashion trend can tell us a lot about what is happening in the
industry and in the world.
After doing all the research about fashion market next step is choose your key

I’m very much inspired by FRINGES because they are in trend{ at its peak} as
well as they symbolized the power of freedom by their regular

Patch work or “ pieced work” is a form
of needlework that involves sewing
together pieces of fabric into a large
design the larger design is usually
based on repeating patterns built up
with different fabrics shapes (which
can be different colors). These shapes
are carefully measured and cut, basic
geometric shapes making them easy to
piece together differently.

Yes, your clothes have an afterlife
In a world still churning out trendy throw--away fashion pieces at breakneck speed, the idea of upcycled or refashioned
apparel can be an anomaly. But it is a continuously growing trend and is one of the most sustainable things people can
do in fashion. As upcycling makes use of already existing pieces, it often uses few resources in its creation and actually
keeps ‘unwanted’ items out of the waste stream
Upcycling: The New Wave of Sustainable Fashion
Here I’m very must influenced by this upcycling concept so that I can give my contribution in saving ”OUR PLANIT

61. Here is my project during my learning process in college I got a case study in
which I have to design an ethnic garment (kurti) . It is specified that we have to
use tie and die for creating surface interest. Show front, back and side view if
necessary.
As par the case study I’m very much clear about what to make and which
surface design technique I have to choose.
So The next step is to do market research on tie and die and than for kurti( its
silhouette, color, sleeves, other surface embellishment if I use to making it more
ethnic.

62. TieTie DyeDye
Tie-dye is a modern term invented in the mid-1960s in the United States
(but recorded in writing in an earlier form in 1941 as "tied-and-dyed", and
1909 as "tied and dyed" by Charles E. Pellew for a set of ancient resist-
dyeing techniques, and for the products of these processes. The process of
tie-dye typically consists of folding, twisting, pleating, or crumpling fabric or
a garment and binding with string or rubber bands, followed by
application of dyes.
Designs and patterns
Tie-dye can be used to create a wide variety of designs on fabric, from standard patterns such as the spiral,
peace sign, diamond, and the marble effect to beautiful works of art. Using techniques such as stencils (a la
screen printing using dyes or discharge pastes), clamped-on shaped blocks, and tritik (stitching and
gathering), tie-dye can produce almost any design desired. If a modern kit is used, then it is easier to
accomplish a spiral or circle.
Asia
Shibori a form of tie-dye which originated in Japan and Indonesia. It has been
practiced there since the 8th century. Shibori includes a number of labor-
intensive resist techniques which include stitching elaborate patterns and
tightly gathering the stitching before dyeing, forming intricate designs for
kimonos. Another shibori method is to wrap the fabric around a core of rope,
wood or other material, and bind it tightly with string or thread. The areas of
the fabric that are against the core or under the binding would remain
undyed.
