Synopsis
During my course of study I learned fashion market and design basic to achieve the needs and desires of my clients.
Also garment engineering and designing the surface are important aspects to be learned to manipulate these basic in
own creation.
One more collection is there on tie and dye .

I have tried my level best to bring out the best of my knowledge gained at Dezyne E’cole College.
I'm inspired with conceptual influence than I made fashion markets research in which I collected all the designing areas
so that I can work upon, while doing this I m inspired with fringes. I worked upon my own collection where I was given
a case study to design a collection for young girl, in which i designed One piece garment in this garment I cut triangles
and join them with eyelets and codes attached it as a yoke on front. I made this dress without using stitching on it.
Not only this I worked upon one more collection in which I was inspired from up cycling influence, Up cycling is a
great concept for reducing pollution of our country.

What is collection
A collection is a range of garment, accessories or product that are designed and
produce for sale to retailers or directly to customers. this may be inspired by
trend, theme or design direction reflecting cultural and social influences.
Successful designer, manufacturers or retailers have clear understanding of their customers ‘need as well as understanding
their position in competitive market. In order to gain an understanding fashion there is a need to conduct a ‘comp shop’
to compare the stock with competitors. Some costumers are inspirational that knows as muse who embodies the designer
style or approach to fashion.
By careful investigation and competitors analysis. Designers can begin to identify a specific market area and customers for
fashion vision.
When developing a collection with a staff team the designer will begin by explaining the overall look and theme of
collection. A key part of designers role is sourcing fabric and premier vision is the most famous in fashion fabrics trend
exhibitions and manufacturers across the world.
As fashion has evolved information source are now widely available online, the trend forecasting industry has responded
to provide a wide range of product. This includes trend intelligence, customer trend all available subscription.
Some designers have own archive of past collection that may be their part of new collection.
It is possible to group common themes in fashion those which influence the creative process in a collection.. Recurring
influence includes traditional costume, active sports, work wear, the military, politics and futurism.

Different influences are discussed below;
 Conceptual influence: This may credited to the Japanese designers
rei kawakubo, Hussein etc.
Conceptual collection are often beautiful, timeless, ageless, and dislocated from
most visual narratives.
Form and function: functional garment such as military wear and expedition clothing have influence fashion designers.
Work wear: this origin of the source is Levis strauss. The cloth traditional construction details can be reworked with
endless possibilities.
Sports wear: this proved successful at a time when exercise and healthier lifestyle were beginning to dictate a new style
of clothing.
Futuristic influence: This influence are no longer use historical reference on this basis to many designers over depend on
them restricting their development as innovative designers. This can be obvious in its presentation but, more importantly
it is about breaking new ground, taking in new direction.
Political influence: fashion reflects society and designers will often reference political change in their collection.
Messages through clothes that wear in this influence can be subversive or can be bold to create a reaction.
Archivisim: This refers to way in which designers look back to previous collection for the inspiration. The original design
aesthetic of well established labels may be revisited decades later with collection referencing the same design influence
and detailing.
Global influence: Since the 1960 international travel has become affordable and accessible to majority of the developed

For making collection we have to establish the purpose of collection and market aiming.
Then is to find a theme to stimulate a visual interpretation a intense research process follows when

You are required to produce 4 design in full colour and all designs should ne illustrated as working drawings .
Consideration should be given to design – including construction as well as surface interest of 3 dimensional Garment
show back and front view- obligatory, and side view if necessary.
Develop your design idea with due consideration of media use and present the ideas for your portfolio they may be of any

Patch work or “ pieced work” is a form
of needlework that involves sewing
together pieces of fabric into a large
design the larger design is usually
based on repeating patterns built up
with different fabrics shapes (which
can be different colors). These shapes
are carefully measured and cut, basic
geometric shapes making them easy to
piece together differently.

keeps ‘unwanted’ items out of the waste stream

Identity Exhibition Project

Here is my project during my learning process in college I got a case study in
which I have to design an ethnic garment (kurti) . It is specified that we have to
use tie and die for creating surface interest. Show front, back and side view if
necessary.
As par the case study I’m very much clear about what to make and which
surface design technique I have to choose.
So The next step is to do market research on tie and die and than for kurti( its
silhouette, color, sleeves, other surface embellishment if I use to making it more
ethnic.

TieTie DyeDye
Tie-dye is a modern term invented in the mid-1960s in the United States
(but recorded in writing in an earlier form in 1941 as "tied-and-dyed", and
1909 as "tied and dyed" by Charles E. Pellew for a set of ancient resist-
dyeing techniques, and for the products of these processes. The process of
tie-dye typically consists of folding, twisting, pleating, or crumpling fabric or
a garment and binding with string or rubber bands, followed by
application of dyes.
Designs and patterns
Tie-dye can be used to create a wide variety of designs on fabric, from standard patterns such as the spiral,
peace sign, diamond, and the marble effect to beautiful works of art. Using techniques such as stencils (a la
screen printing using dyes or discharge pastes), clamped-on shaped blocks, and tritik (stitching and
gathering), tie-dye can produce almost any design desired. If a modern kit is used, then it is easier to
accomplish a spiral or circle.
Asia
Shibori a form of tie-dye which originated in Japan and Indonesia. It has been
practiced there since the 8th century. Shibori includes a number of labor-
intensive resist techniques which include stitching elaborate patterns and
tightly gathering the stitching before dyeing, forming intricate designs for
kimonos. Another shibori method is to wrap the fabric around a core of rope,
wood or other material, and bind it tightly with string or thread. The areas of
the fabric that are against the core or under the binding would remain
undyed.

and bugal beats.
Through running
stitch i made a bale
kind structure .

tussles,

garment.
I used bugal, round
beads to make this hand
made tussle.
For inside filling I used
cotton to give it real look.
