Traditional data center architectures connected compute farms to storage via SANs and NAS filers, but these do not scale well for VDI environments. Solutions include using SSDs for golden images and efficient snapshotting/cloning, abandoning SANs/NASs in favor of distributed file systems, and new architectures like Virsto One and Nutanix that do not require traditional storage and improve performance and scalability.
