TIME OF YEAR.
HAPUCUL
“Hapucul “is a kind of football
with bats. That's what many kids say
when they try to explain what it means
and how to play. The only differences
between football and the hapuc are that
the ball must not reach the gate but in
the hole, and the work tool is not the foot.
Two teams are formed, the field
is delimited and holes are made in the
field. Each player has his or her hole that
has to keep it with holiness of the ball,
otherwise it goes out of the game.
When we say about the ball, do not
imagine a football. The ball is specially
made by the most experienced player.
A cloth ball replaces the famous
soccer ball and is called Hapuc , where
the name of the game comes from.
3. A14-SEASONAL TRADITIONAL GAMES THAT MAY BE PLAYED IN ONLY A PARTICULAR
TIME OF YEAR.
Rules of games: a team
must do everything to introduce the
hammer, or the ball from the ox in
those holes, and the other team to
cover the holes, so that the Hapuc
can not be introduced into them.
In past, in grandparents
childhood “Hapucul “was a ball
made of animal hair, round and
beating it with the bots.
Usual were playing six
children , two on either side and
two on the other side, and two on
the ball. One of them hit the ball
and if he gets stuck in a hole, he
win.
4. A14-SEASONAL TRADITIONAL GAMES THAT MAY BE PLAYED IN ONLY A PARTICULAR
TIME OF YEAR.
“Hapucul” is the predecessor
of the oina-national game in Romania ,
the game being very well settled and
connected to Easter Holidays,
especially in Bistrita- Nasaud area.
He only plays on the second day of
Easter after the children leave the
church service.
“Hapucul “ seems to be a very
spectacular game and it is a pity to be
forgotten altogether.
But the same thing happened
with other traditional games one-half
century ago in most of the Romanian
villages on Bistrita-Nasaud area, and
now it is on the verge of extinction.
5. A14-SEASONAL TRADITIONAL GAMES THAT MAY BE PLAYED IN ONLY A PARTICULAR
TIME OF YEAR.
In order to familiarize
children and young people with
this traditional game, every year at
Garlic Festival organizes Hapuc
competitions between the teams
of the different villages.
All these actions are
coordinated by Virginia Linul
History and Ethnography doctor
whose goals is revitalization of
local traditions, the material and
immaterial of our area.
The actions of our project
have contributed fully to this
regional effort and we will
encourage these games in school
curriculum
