Online shopping is the process whereby consumers
directly buy goods or services from a seller in real-time,
without an intermediary service, over the Internet. It is a
form of electronic commerce.
Online shopping became popular during the Internet boom
in 1999-2000. Amazon.com, the online bookstore founded
by Jeff Bezos, created history by becoming the first
bookstore with a presence only on the Internet. Following
the success of Amazon, many bookstores with a physical
presence also created an online presence on the Internet.

Travel is the most popular category for online purchases. Not
surprisingly, the maximum number of online transactions in the
country is made at irctc.co.in, the site of the Indian Railways,
where train tickets can be purchased online. Air tickets are also a
growing category in online purchases.
People can go to the airline's website and book their ticket or go
to the online equivalent of a travel agent, travel sites like
Makemytrip.com and travel.indiatimes.com that offer a choice of
multiple airlines and the best deals in each.Overseas,
Expedia.com, is one of the most popular travel sites, where you
can book your travel and hotel stay. Expedia.com has tie-ups
with a large number of hotel chains and because of the large
number of customers who come to the site for their bookings,
Expedia.com is able to offer very good discounts.
PROCEDURE OF ONLINE SHOPPING
1. Using the Shopping Cart, The shopping cart is located on the top
right hand of your browser.
2. To put an item in your cart click the "Add To Cart" button next to
the product you would like to purchase.
3. You will now see the item selected appear in the shopping cart.
4. Now From the "Shopping Cart" you can now edit quantities.
5. If you want to change the quantity or move the item(s) you have
ordered in the shopping cart At view Cart, please FIRST click the
"update" after revising the quantity and products, and then please
click "check out" Or "Contine Shopping".
6. The order page will have two options
(1) to create a login as a new customer,
or
(2) to login as an existing customer with the email address and
password that was created with the original order.

7. On the first page, Customer Information and Billing Address should reflect the
person placing the order.
8. If the order is for someone else, select "Change address" and complete the
shipping address portion for the customer.
9. In the shipping information section of the order form, enter the name of the
customer to whom the product will be licensed.
10. Select the shipping option for the item purchased if the item is being
delivered physically.
11. The next page is the Payment Options. Presently, Transfer And Paypal (PayPal
would be preferred Paypal can accept credit card now, and you do not need to
register a paypal account) .
12. *****Using a Coupon. In order to use an existing coupon, simply select the
"enter coupon" button located at the bottom of the shopping cart.
13. A window will prompt you to type in the code corresponding to the
respective coupon.
NOTE: Coupons are entered without spaces between numbers or letters.
14. When you are finished shopping, double check the items in your cart.
If you have additional questions, send your queries at their mailing addresses.

Online Shopping Has been growing very fast in india only. In 2012 online
shopping e-commerce site number has crossed 600 from 100 . online shopping
offers fast, easy, money saving and interesting shopping experience, it has
many advantages like 24 hours shopping, shopping with coupon to get discount,
shopping from home, rich product availability and specifications etc. Also now
many sites like shopclues, ebay, paytm offers some great deals eveyday or
week which you can’t resisit like jaw dropping deal, sunday flea deal, paytm
karo, ebay, amazon lightning deals, sankalp
deals, homeshop18.Com superdeals,flipkart offers, amazon happy hours etc.
Online shopping has its drawbacks too, we cannot touch and feel the item,
delay in shipping, shipping charges make product expensive specially in low
cost items, risk of loosing your money, stolen your card details etc.
Now a day, online shopping has become popular among people, they have
become techno savvy and feel very comfortable in using internet. So online
shopping has becoming a trend. It is interesting to know that people in the age
group of 15 to 30 years use online shopping more as compared to other age
groups. Normally in this age group students and professional people fall. It
came to know that people frequently visit the snap deal and flip kart for online
shopping.
Online shopping has a great future but to be successful it is necessary to spread
awareness about its benefit.
