1. In 2012, I attended a business seminar in Mississauga conducted by Amway Canada
Corporation. I was invited to attend the seminar because I was working as a sales
representative for the company. My task there was to network with other sales
representatives for Amway and learn ways to expand my sales business. By
interacting with a diverse crowd of sales representatives, I learned how to manage my
existing customers and income and further expand my business. I also learned how
to achieve these goals.
2. I travelled to London, England with my
family in 2007 to visit my parents.
While in London, I visited the various
landmarks in the city including the
London Bridge. I learned about the
history and culture of London while
reuniting with my family after a long
time. I gained a great appreciation for
the rich history of England and also
bonded with my family.
3. This award was presented to me for having perfect attendance at my
previous employer, Symcor Inc. I had to not only be present everyday, but I
also had to be punctual for my shift. I achieved these goals by being
organized and dedicated while I was employed there. My dedication was
rewarded by my manager with this certificate.
4. I attended a fundraising event this
summer with my husband to raise
money for the high school he attended
as a teenager in Sri Lanka. I
volunteered to sell tickets for a charity
cruise and interacted with many
people from my husbandβs village. It
was a great opportunity for me to
improve my communication skills and I
gained many new friends and
increased my confidence.
5. Last semester, I took a course at
Centennial College called Global
Citizenship (GEND500). In this picture,
some of my classmates and I are
holding a discussion session on social
problems analysis. All of us use
English as a second language and often
experience language barriers. This
was our first group project which
enabled us to work together to
research and gather information for
writing a report. I improved my
computer, interpersonal, and
collaboration skills from this project.
