1. To Whom It May Concern:
I am Queenie Kwan Yee Siu, a graduated student from University of Canberra. I
was studying a double degree in Bachelor of Public Relations/ Bachelor of Arts in
Advertising and International Studies. I am interested in this position, as I would
like to apply my communication skills that I had learned from theories to real life
implement, and I am interested in communication area. I believe communication
is the best way to communicate and establish relations with people; hence I
would like to start my careers path from communication sector to enhance my
communication skills and techniques to enlarge my social network and my
professionalism.
I was born in Hong Kong and migrated to Australia when I was 15 in 2007;
therefore I am able to speak in Cantonese, English and Mandarin. I started to
learn English since I was 3, and I was studying in an English secondary school in
Hong Kong. I was growing up with a Pilipino housemaid since I was 3, hence I
was learned to absorb and understand different cultural aspects. After I had
migrated to Australia, I had made up friends with different cultural and religious
background.
Other than cultural aspects, I had learned through my personal life experiences
to work in a group and being confidents to communicate with different people.
During the College, I was a member of School Leaders Group (SLG), and I was
trained to speak in public. Since 2012, I had started to be helper in Church
through missionary trips and summer campers to interactive with teenagers
with different background. Currently, I am the leader in a youth fellowship group
in Canberra Chinese Christian Church. My duties are caring brothers and sisters
and administrative management. Through the duties, I need to build up
relationships with different peoples and establish communication platforms for
people to express their perspective.

Within the 4 years of university studies, I had learned various communication
strategies and tactics in marketing communication, public relations and
advertising. Those university assignments had given me lots of chances to gain
experiences from the real life projects, and learned through the companies’
communication strategies and tactics. For instance, I had worked in-group to
create a campaign to advertising the project of United Nations, The Hunger
Challenge, which held in Milan in 2016. The university had also provided me a
chance to help The Vegan ACT to establish a cohesive public relations campaign
to enhance the recognition of the organization. From those projects, I had
implement the knowledge of theories of public relations, the use of social media,
and marketing communication to create awareness in the community and
strengthen the organisation’ communication tactics.
In 2014 winter, I have attended the Asia bound Program hosted by the
University of Canberra. The program was spotted in Thailand for more then 3
weeks. It has given me a new vision on Marketing communication and
advertising. After the program, I would like to study further in this sector to
explore more opportunities for myself. Therefore during 2014 December till
January 2015, I have travelled to South Korea, Japan and Taiwan to explore the
Asia cultural customs and traditional. From the travels, I had explored the
communication differences between cultures and it had gained my vision on
marketing and advertising strategies.
I had previously took a 6 week internship placement in Hitachi Electronic
Materials (Hong Kong) Limited during June till July 2013. I was working in the
human resources department; my duties were assisting the managers to update
3. the employees’ handbook and establish the feedback questionnaires for the
customers service department to reflect the project performances. During the
internship placement, I had learned to absorb the working environment and
communicate with my colleagues to achieve the projects’ goals within the set of
time period.
Kind Regards,
Queenie Kwan Yee Siu
