2. Photographer: Nick Pickles
• Nick Pickles is a London-based
freelance photographer travelling
across the country to cover gigs,
festivals and events for a wide
range of clients. He currently works
as the house music photographer at
Wembley Arena, and in the past
year have been commissioned by
clients including Red Bull, the BBC,
EMI, Disney and The Fly. He is also
part of a company called Big
Brother watch. He won the 2011
Rock Archive Glastonbury photo
competition.

4. Choose an image…. Describe it
• This is my favourite image
from his website. It is a black
and white photo of an artist
at a festival lifting his guitar
to the crowd.
5. Composition
• This landscape shot was taken from behind the artist
to get a full view of the crowd, whilst having the
guitarist as the main focus. He also uses vertical rule
of thirds with the TV stand, main artist and the trees
and countryside.
6. Techniques used
• He has used an over the shoulder
technique so we can see what the
guitarist is seeing.
7. Strengths & Weaknesses
• I think the photo is great as you get the proper
festival feeling seeing a mass crowd with the
countryside and nature in the background and
the big TV stand in the middle of it all.
