2. How Do People Learn
In order to learn, people have to have a need or a reason. They need to
know whats in it for them (WIIFM).
People learn through experience. Hearing, seeing, and doing are all ways
we learn.
We learn more from positive cheerful interesting people.
We also learn in bite size chunks and steps.
We like interactive questions, involvement, and discovery.
We also like feedback, encouragement, and recognition
3. Learning Styles
• Conceptual: These participants are logical step-by-step, dislike confusion, take
lots of notes, things distract them, and want to know where all of your facts
come from.
• Creative: They love new experiences, have to apply here & now, tend to “wing
it”, need to be involved, learn by doing, and like role plays and practicing
• Practical: They like to try ideas to see if they work, wonder what they can do
with objects and ideas, want to apply learning immediately, like exercises but
dislike debriefing afterwards, don’t like abstract discussions, and they need to
be shown things
• Reflective: They like to collect data and think about it, need time to review, like
to sit in the back, like the big / long term picture, listeners, and cautious.
