PG&E and UDC provide a brief overview of UDC's enterprise Esri ArcGIS application that supports end-to-end management of planned work, preventative maintenance, inspections and surveys and provides robust compliance management and reporting capabilities for gas and electric utilities. In our joint presentation given at the Schneider Link 2018 conference, we focus on PG&E's use of Compliance Manager for Cathodic Protection Survey and the benefits realized by the Utility from this solution.

- 4. • Cathodic Protection (CP) at PG&E • Following the San Bruno incident, PG&E put a good deal of work into updating their asset data • Focus on Transmission • Included the conversion of Gas Distribution data • In 2015, began to focus on Distribution • Hired Preston Ford to evaluate current state Cathodic Protection at PG&E
- 5. • Complete reset of the PG&E Corrosion Program • 5 Year Program • 21,000 miles of Steel Distribution Pipe • Determine: • The location • Whether appropriately cathodically protected • Ensure monitored and tracked Corrosion Program Analysis

Initial Analysis Revealed: • Casings • 3200 casings that needed to be evaluated • Isolated Steel Risers • The initial evaluation did not take into account locations where isolated steel risers are electrically tied • 350,000 locations were found • Require annual monitoring Corrosion Program Analysis

Massive Data Collection Program • 3200 casings that needed to be evaluated • 350,000 Isolated Steel Service locations • 5 year program • Contractors were onboarded to perform the field work GIS Data • The Gas Distribution GIS system was complete at PG&E at the end of 2015 • This data is instrumental in performing the field work Corrosion Program Analysis - Results
