 Executive presence is about your ability to inspire confidence
 Inspiring confidence in your subordinates that you’re the leader they
want to follow
 Inspiring confidence among peers that you’re capable and reliable
 Most importantly, inspiring confidence among senior leaders that you
have the potential for great achievements
 Executive presence is a skill, not a trait, that means it’s something you
can cultivate and build
Need Of Executive Presence
 Your executive presence determines whether you gain access to
opportunity
 There’s a saying in leadership, “All the important decisions about you
will be made when you’re not in the room"
 It’s true - whether it’s a decision about an important opportunity, a
promotion to a critical role or an assignment to a high-visibility project,
you won’t be in the room
 The opportunities you gain access to, depend on the confidence you’ve
inspired in the decision makers
 The more significant the opportunity, the more important executive
presence becomes
How To Build Your Executive Presence
 Have a vision, and articulate it well
 Understand how others experience you
 Build your communication skills
 Become an excellent listener
 Cultivate your network and build political savvy
 Learn to operate effectively under stress
 Make sure your appearance isn’t a distraction
 Remain connected, charismatic, confident, compassionate, credible,
consistent, clear and concise, calm and composed

 Personal Branding is the practice of marketing people and their careers
as brands
 It is an ongoing process of developing and maintaining a reputation and
impression of an individual, group or organization
 Your brand is your reputation, it’s your business card and it’s what you
are known for and how people experience you
 Delivering your personal brand clearly and with consistency creates an
experience with others that they will remember you

 Gravitas – how you act
 Communication – how you speak
 Appearance – how you look

 It is the practice of marketing people and their
careers as brands

 Understand your purpose

them
 What represents the standards for
