Would you like to invest in something that can provide positive returns no matter what the stock market or economy is doing?
Something that can be compounded easily?
Something that is liquid?
View this presentation to learn about an exciting way to invest your money in something which generates returns that don't depend on whether the stock market is going up or down, real estate prices are going up or down, interest rates are high or low and all the other economic stuff the media reports about. This investment sure doesn't care what the price of gold is or will be!
What is it? Automated system trading in the stock index futures. That may sound like a mouthful, but it is very simple to invest in – the system developer and broker do all the hard work.
The system developer is Gary Hart of Trendfinder Trading Systems. Trendfinder was created with the goal of providing institutional and retail clients with trading systems that provide consistent outsized returns while keeping losses and drawdowns contained. To achieve this goal we offer very short term trading strategies that put a relatively small amount of capital at risk and are in the market only when perceived opportunity is the greatest.

THANK YOU ARI AND DAVE FOR HAVING ME HERE ANDI THANK EACH OF YOU FOR THE GIVING ME THE TIME TO SHARE THIS OPPORTUNITY WITH YOU TONIGHT.
THANK YOU FOR GIVING ME THE TIME TO SHARE THIS OPPORTUNITY WITH YOU TONIGHT.FIRST I WANT TO ASK YOU SOME QUESTIONS. [READ QUESTIONS]An investment that:Doesn’t need good corporate earningsDoesn’t need real estate prices to riseNot dependent on the value of the dollarNot dependent on interest ratesBasically an investment that is uncorrelated to all other traditional investmentsOh, and it is liquid – you can access your money the next day.I know I do! And, I am guessing you do too.
NOW BEFORE I GET INTO MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THIS INVESTMENT, THERE ARE SOME IMPORTANT DISCLAIMERS AND GOVERNMENT REQUIRED DISCLOSURES TO COVER.HIGHLIGHTS:All content in this webinar is provided for informational purposes only. It is not a recommendation or advice to buy or sell any securities. There is a very high degree of risk involved in trading futures. Your use of any information in this webinar is entirely at your own risk.PAST RESULTS ARE NOT NECESSARILY INDICATIVE OF FUTURE RESULTS.WHILE THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR PROFITS THERE IS ALSO A RISK OF LOSS. YOU SHOULD THEREFORE CAREFULLY CONSIDER WHETHER SUCH TRADING IS SUITABLE FOR YOU IN LIGHT OF YOUR FINANCIAL CONDITION.
Who am I?A CTA is someone that manages all trading in the investor's futures account pursuant to a specified program.
[GO THROUGH SLIDE THEN READ BELOW]Good thing I looked and found something – engineering income fell off a cliff in 2008 so was able to make trading a full-time career.I get to now share this investment opportunity with others that I am sure would like all these criteria met as well.SO, WHAT IS POSSIBLE WITH FUTURES TRADING?
One simple way to show this is with a graph. This is for the previous 8 years futures trading using all of Trendfinder’s systems. These are straight returns (profits not compounded), if they were compoundedthere would be an even larger disparity.I’ll say more about these trading systems later, but for now want to give you the big picture overview. The S&P Total Return has dividends included.I included the USAA Precious Metals & Minerals Fund because it is the best performing mutual fund or ETF I could find for this period. Plus, investing in gold & silver has been very popular.Futures trading met all the criteria I was looking for – most importantly it can provide positive returns no matter what the stock market or economy is doing. Of course it can provide losses no matter what the stock market or economy is doing also – but the point is that this is an investment that isn’t dependent on the stock market, economy, interest rates etc.[Case-Shiller Home Price Index is the 20 city composite – not seasonally adjusted]
Now for the technical numbers…This table displays the correlation based on monthly returns. 1.0 is perfect correlation and -1.0 is perfect negative correlation. Anything under 0.25 considered uncorrelated. These are about as close to zero as you can get. This shows home prices with a small negative correlation – this is only because home prices have been going down most months and Trendfinder’s returns were up most months. The returns from Trendfinder’s trading systems are not correlated to other investments, which means they could be an ideal addition to your overall portfolio.
SO, WHAT EXACTLY ARE FUTURES? HERE IS A FORMAL DEFINITION FROM WIKIPEDIA. [Don’t just read definition – explain what futures are].BASICALLY FUTURES ARE INSTRUMENTS CREATED SO THAT FARMERS, BANKS AND CORPORATIONS COULD HEDGE.What traders (like me) provide is someone to take the other side of those hedges.TRENDFINDER’S SYSTEMS ONLY TRADE THE STOCK INDEX FUTURES BUT DIVERSIFY BY TRADING LARGE CAPS WITH THE S&P 500, THE S&PMIDCAPS AND THE RUSSEL 2000 WHICH TRACKS SMALL CAP STOCKS.
As with any investment there are risks.Leverage is a double-edged sword…..need to make sure you have solid risk control procedures in place when trading.
DISCIPLINED – all guesswork is removed and rules are set in stoneAUTOMATED – trades can be executed without any need of a human placing the trades – computers can do it in microsecondsRISK CONTROL – you can define the maximum loss for any trade and have the computer automatically place those stop ordersTEST/SUBSTANTIATE EDGE – when you have strictly defined rules, you can test on data to see if the system really works or not
I will show you its performance results next.
The website has lots of info on each system (maybe too much!). I will go through each item briefly to explain what it is. I showed performance info that I think is important when evaluating a system.
Total Net ProfitDrawdownAnnual Rate of ReturnAvg. Trade Net Profit - important
Drawdown definition: amount of loss between equity peaks
Unfortunately system trading may not be as easy as it looks.
HAS THE LOSS EXCEEDED MY CUTOFF POINT? NO.
Diversification – IF ONE SYSTEM HAS A POOR PERIOD OTHER SYSTEMS HELP CUSHION THE LOSSES.
