The Asbestos Awareness course
is designed to allow workers
to understand the dangers of
asbestos and how it can cause
illness if exposed to the harmful
substance. Asbestos has been
discovered to be extremely
hazardous and should it be
disturbed, there may be long-
term consequences. Due to
this, workers need to be
equipped with detailed
information on the health and
safety measures that need to be
taken.
This training course aims to provide
knowledge and guidance, so workers can
carry out their duties safely and be aware of the
dangers. (Please note that workers who have plans to
carry out work with asbestos present will require a higher level of train-
ing than what this course provides. This course does not permit workers
to be in the presence of asbestos containing materials.)
This module concentrates on duties both employers and em-
ployees have legally when it comes to managing and monitor-
ing asbestos. It will also look at the two different surveys that
need to be carried out to ensure the process is carried out with
efficiency.

3. This module depicts the basics of a risk assessment and how
they are undertaken in the workplace environment, before
workers can be potentially exposed to asbestos. Each phase
of the procedure is briefed in detail.

This module gives a detailed overview on why asbestos is so
harmful and why it causes serious health issues. It explains
the idea of f riability and as well as providing useful control
measures as to how workers can stay protected f rom hazard-
ous asbestos substances.

4. This module looks into the emergency procedure advice pro-
vided by the Health and Safety Executive; as well as the steps
that need to be taken if someone is suffering f rom illness or if
there happens to be a leak of a hazardous substance, or out-
break of fire during working hours.
