3. Gender Analysis
Observation: 66.67% (16) of my respondents were male and 33.33% (8) of my respondents were
female.
What this says about my audience: This shows that most of my audience are male, however the gender
factor does not affect my campaign because it is gender neutral. However I now know that most of my
audience are male, so if I were to make more posters and other products for my campaign in the future
then I will use the male stereotype as a guideline for what my product should be like. Still, a third of my
respondents are female so I will not just forget about them, I would like my campaign and products to
appeal to both genders because as I said my campaign isn’t gender biased.
How will my product appeal to the audience: I will use the response from my survey as a slight guideline
to what my product will be like, however I am aiming for a gender neutral product at first, this way it
will appeal to more people and will share a message that is relevant to a large majority of people.
However in the future I may want to create a product that mainly appeals to men that describes
problems that the male gender may face daily or just from time to time. The same concept applies to
women as well, if there is a problem or topic they face which links with my campaign I will want to
cover it so my product appeals to even more people.
5. Age Analysis
Observation: The response shows that 68% (17) of the respondents were between the
ages of 13-17 years old, 24% (6) were between 18-25 years old and 8% were between
35-44 (2) years old.
What this says about my audience: The responses show that the majority of my
audience are young adults/teenagers and there are very few older people in my
audience. I feel like my audience was going to be younger in the first place because a
lot of questions were about social media and topics that are featured a lot on social
media, which as a whole is aimed more for a younger audience.
How will my product appeal to the audience: After looking at the response to the
question in my survey I know that the majority of my audience are young adults and
teenagers, this means that the language I use will have to be more informal so it
appeals to them more. Having this age range as a target for my campaign is good
because I also fall into that category so I know what effects the audience the most, it
also means that I can be more expressive to the audience. I also know that the age of
my audience will be more used to shock imagery because of social media, television
and video games so I can be more experimental and controversial if I need to be.
7. Location Analysis
Observation: Everyone who responded to the question in my survey say they come
from York, or somewhere near in Yorkshire so everybody is considered ‘local’.
What this says about my audience: The responses for this question tell me that
everyone lives in York or just outside but are still located in Yorkshire, this is good
because this where I am also located so I know what social issues are causing the most
problems, even more I will know which places in particular will be effected the most
from my campaign.
How will my product appeal to the audience: When I start to make my product I will
make it a local advertisement and make it personal to those who live near by, that way
it will appeal more to the people who are local to the area. Hopefully the people who
the campaign has appealed to will spread it around and show other people who live
further away, that way the advertisement will be spreading in different parts of the
country, at that point I will change the poster so it applies to more people than just
those who live locally.
9. Geodemographic Analysis
Observation: 56% (14) of my audience class themselves as students, 36% (9) of the
respondents fit into the family geodemographic, 4% (1) fit into the wealthy category
and another 4% (1) said they fit into the young professional category.
What this says about my audience: This shows that the majority of my audience fit
into the Student category and slightly less said that they fit into the family category,
this corresponds well with the age question earlier because the responses from that
said most people were teenagers/young adults.
How will my product appeal to the audience: Because the majority of the respondents
said that they were in the category of student, this means that I will create a poster
that will appeal to this audience by making it informal, and having little text on it
because it will make it easier to read, plus after doing some research I discovered that
the most effective and powerful advertisements have had little but shockingly
accurate text that was used to change the mind of the person viewing the image.
11. Religion Analysis
Observation: 60% (15) of the people who responded to the question
said the were not religious, 28% (7) of the respondents said they were
religious and finally 12% (3) of people said they were not sure.
What this says about my audience: These responses tell me that the
majority of my audience do not believe in a religion, however some do
and even fewer are not sure, unsurprisingly these were the kinds of
answers I was expecting.
How will my product appeal to the audience: Originally my plan for a
campaign was going to be heavily based on religion, however based on
my feedback I will make it less based on religion but more based on
recent social issues that follow that guideline, I will still use religion but
I will also use other issues regarding social movements as well.
13. Opinion on Religion Analysis
Observation: The responses show that most people don’t have a religion but
respected those who did, slightly less people said that they were religious and that it
was important to them. Only a few said that they were not interested at all.
What this says about my audience: This shows that most of my audience are
respectful to religion and to those who are religious as long as it is not forced upon
them, however the majority of them are not religious. This means that they will
hopefully be more accepting and open to the campaign and the posters I want to
make.
How will my product appeal to the audience: Because I have now learned from my
responses that most of my audience (around about 80%) respect religion maybe
because they are religious or because it does not bother them, as long as it is not
forced upon them. This means I can be more open with my posters and adverts as
long as I’m just trying to show a message, this is because people might get annoyed or
take the poster as a negative concept so I will not try to force people into anything I
just want to raise the awareness of the issue.
15. Society Analysis
Observation: Just like previous answers, the responses to this question are evenly split
again, about half of the respondents said that they thought our society was scary for
some, however the other half thought that our society was safe.
What this says about my audience: This shows that my audience have differences
within them, some people think we live in a society that is very accepting and that
people should not be scared about confessing their beliefs and opinions. However the
other people think that the society we live in today is scary and can put people off
confessing their beliefs and opinions because they expect negative feedback and hate
against them.
How will my product appeal to the audience: I will carry on making a poster about
how society makes it hard for people because that’s what the majority of my audience
says and what I experience personally as well as other people like me too. My poster
will apply to a lot of people because it does not just cover one certain thing but it
generalizes the issue, hopefully this will be enough to start changing peoples minds
against others when the confess something.
17. Social Media Analysis
Observation: There is quite an even split of answers, some people have responded
saying that they think social is good for expressing yourself, others disagree and say
that it isn’t. Then some people feel that its both good and bad.
What this says about my audience: This shows that my audience is very diverse with
this particular issue about social media, this is probably because different people will
have had different experiences with social media, some of my audience may see a lot
of people sharing hate around social media and will just cause arguments, where as
others may see people showing support to others on social media.
How will my product appeal to the audience: I will still make my campaign poster
relevant to problems that people face when they are on social media, and problems
people face in day to day life, that way the poster will apply to more people making it
more appealing. People tend to be more confident when saying stuff on social media
because they are hidden behind a screen, meaning that I will try to be more powerful
with my social media poster for my campaign.
