Tim has 10 years of experience as an Engineering Technician in our
Construction Administration Group, first as a surveying tech/part-time
crew chief and then as an inspector. He has over 20 years of experience
in all aspects of construction including 2 years working as a Certified
Welder/Iron Worker. Tim has completed several MnDOT certification
courses and has a good working knowledge of MnDOT documentation and
processes. Tim has completed several courses pertaining construction
inspection and management procedures. He excels at construction
observation, client communication, project documentation, and
contractor coordination. His experience includes expertise in:
• Communicating with contractors on up-to-date construction
practices, quantity disputes, and scheduling
• Creating and completing various construction documentation
forms
• Tracking project quantities for contractor payment

SELECTED PROJECT EXPERIENCE
I-90 Dresbach Bridge, La Crescent, MN
Tim is a part of the verification team for this project is a cooperative
effort between the Minnesota & Wisconsin Department of Transportation
agencies, and is a multi-year project that will continue through 2016. The
project includes constructing a new I-90 crossing over the Mississippi
River and reconstructing the Highway 61/41 and I-90 interchange. The
new I-90 river crossing will meet current structural and geometric
standards, and the new interchange will improve safety, capacity and
access on and between Highway 61/41 and I-90. Additional project
details:
• Concrete box girder structure
• Length: 2,593 ft
• Width: approximately 45-66 ft
• Two twelve-foot lanes in each direction
• Eastbound acceleration lane
• Twelve-foot outside shoulders
• Project cost: $187.5 Million
MnDOT TH 169 Mill/Overlay and ADA Improvements from Hwy 10 to
CSAH 4 in Zimmerman, MN

Tim was an Inspector on this MnDOT project involved in all aspects of
construction associated with the project including milling operations,
bituminous paving operations, and ADA compliant operations. He worked
closely with District #3 MnDOT personnel, performed contract

administration, materials acceptance and certification, project
documentation, labor compliance. The project also consisted of
reconstruction of 800’ concrete travel lanes located at 3 intersections in
the City of Elk River. Ultra High Early concrete was used due to the fact
the thru lane could only be shutdown to traffic for a period of 48 hours.
The project also consisted of using four different bituminous mix types.
One of the mix types was Ultra-Thin Bonded Wearing Course. Other
challenges of the project included working with high volumes of high
speed highway traffic conditions day and night.

Street and Utility Improvement Project, St. Anthony, MN
Tim was the lead inspector for this municipal project and was responsible
for all aspects of construction associated with the project including
grading, bituminous paving operations, concrete curb and gutter, and
municipal utility rehabilitation such as sanitary sewer water main
replacement within areas of heavy muck excavation, new storm sewer
facilities and sanitary sewer lining. The project included the
reconstruction of eight city blocks over a two year period. The project
included extensive traffic control and coordination with local businesses
to minimize disruptions. Tim’s roles included contract administration,
project documentation, verification of contractor pay vouchers, heavy
communication of the construction schedule with area residents, and
overseeing and training new intern.

I-35W Saint Anthony Falls Bridge Design-Build Project, Minneapolis, MN
March – September 2009
This high profile project replaced the I35W Bridge which tragically fell
into the Mississippi River in 2008. Tim spent approximately six months of
the nine-month long project mostly testing concrete, grout, and doing
some density testing of aggregate. He estimates he alone probably
performed around a 700 tests on this project.
Lakeville City Pavement Management Project
April – June 2009
Over a period of several months, every city street in the City of Lakeville
was rated according to MnDOT pavement management standards. All
information collected was entered into the GIS program called
Cartegraph and the data collected helped Lakeville institute their future
street repair plan.
Rosemount City Park Project, Rosemount, MN
June – September 2009

This project included regrading of an existing park in the center of
Rosemount increasing the size and beauty of the park. This included
taking into account the area wetlands and including them into the park area
for bird-watching for the public. Many improvements including drainage and
retaining walls, along with trail improvements were included.
I-94 Highway Testing Facility, Monticello, MN
September 2009
Performed concrete tests on the state of the art highway pavement testing facility.
CSAH 25 Concrete Paving, Marshall, MN
June – September 2010
This was an $8M project to completely replace 8.5 miles of CSAH 25, north of
Marshall, MN. Tim assisted in inspection of grading, concrete paving, and asphalt
paving operations as well as managing the testing required for these operations by
ordering tests and keeping documentation of those tests.

Bridges of Mower County, Austin, MN
Tim was involved in the grading aspect of this multi-year Design-Build project in
southern MN. Oversight of all abutment backfills, road building, landscaping, and
erosion control on the project. Kept MnDOT documentation.
Sauk Rapids Bridge Project
April – November 2007
Tim spent three years on this project as a surveying technician performing all aspects
of surveying throughout the entire bridge project using such equipment as total
stations, levels, and Trimble GPS equipment.
