Assignment: Final Reflection
My initial experience with the Psychology of Play course was of great apprehension. I
have not been enrolled in college-level classes in awhile and being placed in a
psychology class, as my second course, within my return to academia, brought high
levels of self-doubt. I did not begin to feel a decent level of comfort in the class until I
started my second week of assignments. The reading was quite thought-provoking
and challenged my thoughts on how I initially approached returning to school and
the best practices for executing my goals. Ideas and topics such as BRAC (Basic Rest
and Activity Cycle), Time Batching, Signature Strengths, Self-Determination Theory,
and Mindfulness began to weave new thought patterns within my mind.
Mindfulness has proven to be useful within business industries with employees
inside and outside of the work environment. Allowing myself the opportunity to
meditate and further understand mindfulness, I can garner focus on the here and
now and put a standstill to becoming lost and caught up in my mind. Through
exercising mindfulness in my life, I will gain emotional intelligence, which will
heighten my ability to focus and work creatively; this is a paramount skill that I will
continue to utilize.
Full Sail University has been a welcomed change in my life since the start of my first
class in September 2019. I felt my attitude has progressed during the duration of
Psychology of Play; I pursued a new method of thought within the weeks of this
course. If I had a chance to revisit this course, I would have taken less of a
judgmental stance against it, as well as its overall purpose. Psychology of Play
demanded my attention and gained my respect; the concepts and ideas will exist
well within my timeline in Full Sail University and guide my future subsequently.
