To Whom It May Concern:
Mr. Thomas Human participated in the UNITAID/World Health Organization
(WHO) internship programme under my supervision during the summer of 2014
(2 months). In the course of that time, I developed a very high regard for
Thomas based on his contributions to UNITAID’s Market Intelligence System
(MIS) project.
Thomas’s primary area of work during the internship was the creation and
completion of a data table that identified and categorized diagnostic devices
used for HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. Thomas’s critical-thinking skills
were readily apparent as he designed the data table. He has a strong knowledge
of diagnostic technologies and he leveraged that knowledge, along with solid
research skills, to create a data table that included all of the information that
would be relevant to UNITAID’s area of work and the goals of the MIS project.
He also helped the project team elicit feedback from other stakeholders. In
conjunction with project team members, Thomas reviewed the data table with
some WHO departments and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs). After
incorporating each group’s feedback, Thomas filled in the data table paying
close attention to detail and with a high degree of precision. He completed it
with speed, efficiency and accuracy.
Overall, Thomas holds himself to a high standard of professionalism. This is
evidenced by not only the creation and completion of the data table he produced,
but also by his willingness and ability to learn. He became an integral and well
respected member of the team.
