Agile New Zealand Keynote: Agile Being vs. Doing AgileLuke Hohmann
This is the slide deck from my Agile New Zealand 2017 keynote.
The Agile Community loves to talk about 'leadership' and how better 'leaders' can bring project success. And most of the popular Agile methods love to frame 'leadership' as the essential ingredient of success. Unfortunately, too many teams spend too much time discussing these topics without fully appreciating their deeper meanings. In this keynote you'll be able to explore what this means for you and your team - and you might find yourself ditching "leader" and "manager" in favor of "agilist".

Recommendation Letter - Joanie Scruggs
To Whom It May Concern:
It's my pleasure to provide this letter of recommendation for Joanie as she seeks employment within your
organization. Due to a company merger, Joanie's position as my Executive Administrative Assistant was
one that was sadly eliminated.
As Joanie's direct manager at Patriot Automation, I've worked closely with her this past year. Joanie has
excellent written and verbal communication skills. She is extremely well-organized and dedicated to doing
a top-notch job on any given assignment. These qualities have served her well in her role with us, and will
be beneficial in regard to Joanie's future administrative endeavors.
Joanie not only assisted me in the capacity as my Executive Administrative Assistant, she also made
herself available to assist others within the company as well. Allow me to give a few examples of how
Joanie effectively performed in her position the short time she was with us.
First, Joanie brought great value to our weekly management meetings, as well as other meetings, by
recording all financial, operational, and human resource needs related to projects. She would then
manage the project status by close communication with managers and departmental staff, and update the
minutes accordingly. .
Second, Joanie possessed a very strong grasp of technology. Not only did she perform in an outstanding
capacity responsibilities required of an executive assistant, she also assisted our estimators and account
managers with client proposals and contracts. She had a keen eye for detail, and went above and beyond
her job duties to ensure both quality and professionalism was depicted. She assisted other managers
throughout the company with reports, licenses, and certifications. She also supported our Accounting
Department by inputting payable and receivable information.
Finally, Joanie was always ready to lend a helping hand to her colleagues, and assisted our Human
Resource Department with employee training sessions, events, and other projects.
In closing, I'd like to restate my strong support for Joanie's detailed administrative abilities. She is driven,
self-confident, proactively helpful, gets along very well with others, and maintains a positive attitude. I feel
confident Joanie will surpass your expectations and be a huge asset to your organization.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
