A powerpoint I created during my time in the Student Honor Council to promote the Council during classroom presentations. Presentations were usually given to an audience of 25-35 students.
2. I will not lie, cheat, steal, nor
tolerate those who do.
Our Honor Code Emphasizes
• Truthfulness
• Fairness
• Respectful Conduct
• Corporate Responsibility
The Honor Council’s job is to
• Promote positive character
growth
• Promote fairness in
academics
• Educate peers about
plagiarism, cheating, and
school resources
3. What is the Honor Council?
Each college has their own honor council made up of a group of
students which hold hearings on cases of plagiarism and
cheating.
Their job is to:
• Determine the intent on the part of
students.
• Recommend courses of positive action.
4. What is Plagiarism?
Plagiarism is the use of words or ideas of another person as if they
were your own words or ideas.
One cuts and pastes
someone else’s words
without citation.
Plagiarism happens when…
Most of the body of a
paper contains very little
of your own work (or lots
of citations).
Someone besides the
author edits the paper
and adds ideas.
The same paper is used
for multiple classes
without permission.
One turns in another’s
paper, or purchases one
from a term paper
company.
Sources are listed to
content that does not
exist.
