control their actions. Some people have
more power than others. There are
many different reasons for this.

You don’t have to be wealthy but you will need to run a campaign, where you convince
people to vote for you. These are expensive. In 2016, Hillary Clinton and Donald
Trump combined spent over $1 billion on their presidential campaigns. You need to
find the money to fund this yourself or convince friends and supporters to help.
• You do not have to be wealthy or educated to become president, but how
might these things make someone more powerful?
• Who would never be able to become president? Who would be unlikely to
become president?
• Are the criteria fair? Can you suggest better criteria?
