• Teacher-Student relationship is one of the most
powerful elements within the learning
environment.
• Students that have positive relationships with
their teachers have been found to be highly
motivated, focused on their tasks, and have
greater overall learning outcomes
• It is obvious that a supportive relationship
between teacher and students benefits the
learning process. According to
Collier(2005)”caring facilitates a sense of
connection from which spring countless
opportunities for learning”. Students will feel
secure that the environment surrounded by
caring teachers will allow them grow and
develop their capacities, and to give more of
themselves to the enhancing of the learning
process
• Interact with students in a responsive
and respectful manner
• Help students reflect on their
thinking and learning skills
• Know and demonstrate knowledge
about their individual student’s
background, interests, emotional
strengths and academic levels.
DO’s
• Avoid showing irritability toward students
• Don’t assume that being kind and
respectful to students is enough to bolster
achievement.
• Don’t wait for negative behaviours and
interaction to occur in the classroom.
Instead, take a proactive stance on
promoting a positive social experience by
including students in discussion about
prosocial interactions
