Spectrum Access Evolution
Flexibility in access – future for UK?
• Sweden 3.5GHz, 3.4 – 3.5GHz non-auction Rural and Urban licenses, rest split between national and then
rural/urban on auction basis
• Italy – split between reserved blocks and auctioned
• Germany – 3.7 – 3.8GHz reserved for Regional licenses, first could be BMW AG for 5G Indoor Private Network for
Digital Manufacturing
Ideas need time and resources – start now or 5 years ago?
• Spectrum ideas now for 5G spectrum for 2020 – 2022
• More and also densification
• 5G Sharing – SA & NSA also Unlicensed
• 3GPPP NR-U for Unlicensed and Shared Spectrum
• Evolves to NR-SS for co-existence & greenfield shared/unlicensed spectrum
