2. MISSION
• College Backpack has been established to assist economically
underprivileged and ethnically underrepresented students in pursuit of

3. PREP IN YOUR STEP
• Designed for high school students
• Prepares students for their steps upward to college and beyond
• Course duration: Saturdays, October 29- November 19, 2016, from 10:00 am-
2:00 pm; adult SAT prep class, 2:30- 4:30 pm
• The hybrid curriculum includes:
• SAT preparation
• Reading
• Writing
• Math

5. PREP IN YOUR STEP
• STEM Activities

• Travel to STEM-based organizations
• Involves students, parents, and education professionals
• Trips are scheduled for October 21-23
• Holiday Inn Washington- Capitol
• Students under 18 must be accompanied by adults
• Possible destinations:
• HU Homecoming
• Open houses for HU Schools and Colleges
• Smithsonian Air and Space Museum
• Goddard Visitor Center in Greenbelt, Maryland
6. PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
• Scientific calculators
• Perforated notebooks
• Writing utensils
• Access to an offsite computer
• Laptops (optional)
• Students must be currently enrolled in Algebra II or its equivalent
• Access to an offsite computer
• Edmodo (hybrid portion of the course)
7. PAYMENT
• $200 enrollment fee
• $100 deposit is due by the first class (cash, certified check or
money order)
• The balance can be paid in two weekly $50 installments
• Students will discontinue the course if one weekly installment is
missed.
