2. Motivation To Take ITEC 299
• The title of the class caught my eye
• I wanted to learn how to use different technologies for learning
• It is a online class
• I have never took a technology class outside of engineering
3. Personal Learning Preferences
• Reflective (3) – I like to think things out before I speak or do
• Sensory (5) – I pay close attention to detail and problem solving
• Visual (11) – Pictures, diagrams, and graphs help me understand
things better
• Sequential (7) – Step by step in order, makes it easy to learn
4. Thoughts and General Concepts of Learning
Preferences
• Everyone learns differently
• There are many ways to learn
• Everyone processes information differently that’s why its called
“preferences”, it all depends on the person
5. Learning Pathway at the Beginning of Class
• Learning Sage
• Main/Primary Goal is to explore and learn about different
technologies
• Personal growth is learned through the different technologies and
used for general learning
• Optional on helping others
6. Did Completed Activities Contribute or Not
to Learning Pathway Completion ?
• I did not complete enough activities for the Learning Sage Pathway
• I have only passed one section of my quests (got all the points),
which the introduction quest
• I fell short in everything else
• I will pass the Synthesis Quest
• So the activities did not contribute to my learning pathway
7. Top 3 Technologies
• iPod: (used the video camera option to record lectures). It has
many features like photos, podcasts, videos, games, calendars,
alarm, fitness and more.
• Smartphone: I used the Quick Graph application as scientific
calculator to graph functions for Calculus 3 class
• Social Network Sites: (Facebook and YouTube) Used Facebook to
communicate with friends on topics of psychology. Used YouTube
to look up concepts and diagrams (e.g. brain structures)
8. Experiences of Different Technologies
• My favorite technology was the iPod because I liked recording and
taking pictures of lectures, and learning that it’s a fitness option
as well
• My second favorite technology was a tie between Facebook and
YouTube
• My least favorite technology was none of them because all the
ones I tried was good. But Podcasts were kind of boring if the
topics were not interesting
• My favorite application was Quick Graph, it came in handy
because I don’t graphing calculator anymore
9. Physiological Factors
• Sleep is important to the thought process and how I take
information in.
• Deep breathing helps relieve stress
• Exercise, eating healthy and drinking water does a body good
• Too much stress is not good for the body, brain and health
10. Learning After This Semester
• I will make time for my physiological factors, especially for
exercising and use the fitness option on my iPod.
• I can also find a fitness application for my smartphone
• I will explore technologies I didn’t get a chance to, like
microblogs, iPads/tablets, MMOGs and Screencasts
• I will use different note taking techniques like Cornell Notes and
space and retention techniques like personalization
11. Feelings About Overall Experience
• I will continue to work on my procrastination and start things early
• I would have done things differently like make sure I followed and
completed my learning pathway
• I was not ready for this class this semester, I feel someday I go
back a try harder on completing the Learning Sage
• I took on too many classes this semester and that is part of the
reason why I did not become a grand master for Learning Sage
• I’m glad I had the opportunity to take this and that it exist at SFSU
so students can learn different ways
