2. Metro Rail is the second largest transportation
project of Bangladesh after the Padma bridge.
The system is called MRT, Mass Rapid Transit.

3. Why such a huge project?

4. Govt. aimed at easing traffic congestion
in the capital city through an improved,
faster, comfortable and time-bound
public transportation service.

5. Financing

6. Transport sector has received around Tk
28,700 crore which is 23.8% of the total
development budget for the FY2015-16.

7. Tk 22,000 crore allocated for the metro rail
project
Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)
has confirmed they will provide Tk 16,600
crore of the project's total cost while
Bangladesh government will bear the rest.

9. Necessary Testing's

10. • Soil & other supporting testing at 120 points
already have done.

11. Service that will covered

12. • A train with six air-conditioned coaches will
operate every four minutes travel from Uttara
to Motijheel in just 38 minutes
• A total of 24 such trains would carry 60,000
passengers every hour to both directions.
• The metro rail will have stations at 16 points
of the city.

14. Finally,we can say, any economic
development of a country is not possible
without developing its transport sector.
So Bangladesh Govt. has taken truly an
impressive step.
