PADMA MULTIPURPOSE BRIDGE
Introduction
The Padma Bridge is a multipurpose road-rail bridge across
the Padma River to be constructed in Bangladesh. When
completed it will be the largest bridge in Bangladesh and the
first fixed river crossing for road traffic. The project covers
three districts —Munshiganj (Mawa Point/North bank),
Shariatpur and Madaripur (Janjira/South bank). The total
area of land to be acquired and required for its components
is 918 hectares (2248.63 acre).
The Padma River is formed by the confluence of the Ganges
and the Jamuna rivers. The river, about 5 km wide with
braided, turbulent, and shifting flows, has been a major
transport barrier between the southwest zone and the
northwest and east zones. At present, passengers and
freight are transported across the river by ferry and, to a
lesser extent, by launches and rowboats. Their services are
grossly inadequate in terms of both capacity and service
level. Existing ferry services involve long and unpredictable
waits at terminals lacking basic amenities. Flooding, fog, and
other difficult weather conditions routinely cause services to
be suspended or cancelled.
The mission vision Objective and goals are given next.

Mission & Vision of PADMA MULTIPURPOSE
BRIDGE
A mission statement tells the
fundamental purpose of the project.
It concentrates on the present. It
defines the critical processes. It
informs the desired level of
performance to the project authority.
The main mission of Padma Bridge
is to improve the country's surface
transport systems and, lift the
nation's economy. Specifically
accelerating economic growth in the
southwest zone of Bangladesh. The
direct Mission of the project will be to
improve surface transport between
Dhaka and the southwest zone.
A vision statement outlines what the organization wants to be. It concentrates on the
future [goal]. It is a source of inspiration. It provides clear decision-making criteria
In My opinion the vision is to make Bangladesh well connected through the surface and
to create a new heavily easy market to the westbenglol that the product can be gone to a
larger market and also for the general people’s opportunity to travel safely without delay
and much safer way.
It is also a vision of Padma Bridge to achieve the Bangladeshis vision 2021.
Objective of PADMA MULTIPURPOSE
BRIDGE

respecting and considering facts.
Objective of Padma Bridge as a project
The Padma Bridge will connect
Louhajong, Munshiganj to Shariatpur and
Madaripur, linking the south-west of the
country, to northern and eastern regions
of Bangladesh.

to the household income and expenditure survey conducted in 2005.So the objective
is increasing the gross domestic product growth rate by 1.2% and the regional growth
rate in the southwest zone by 3.5%, generating 743,000 person-years of additional
employment, and thereby contributing 1.2% of the total labor market of Bangladesh.

  • 4. PADMA MULTIPURPOSE BRIDGE Introduction The Padma Bridge is a multipurpose road-rail bridge across the Padma River to be constructed in Bangladesh. When completed it will be the largest bridge in Bangladesh and the first fixed river crossing for road traffic. The project covers three districts —Munshiganj (Mawa Point/North bank), Shariatpur and Madaripur (Janjira/South bank). The total area of land to be acquired and required for its components is 918 hectares (2248.63 acre). The Padma River is formed by the confluence of the Ganges and the Jamuna rivers. The river, about 5 km wide with braided, turbulent, and shifting flows, has been a major transport barrier between the southwest zone and the northwest and east zones. At present, passengers and freight are transported across the river by ferry and, to a lesser extent, by launches and rowboats. Their services are grossly inadequate in terms of both capacity and service level. Existing ferry services involve long and unpredictable waits at terminals lacking basic amenities. Flooding, fog, and other difficult weather conditions routinely cause services to be suspended or cancelled. The mission vision Objective and goals are given next. Source: Wikipedia .org
