 It includes the people, places, objects flora
and fauna.
 We breathe air, we drink water, we eat plants
and animals .
 So, if any of these elements are damaged , it
will be affects us adversely .
 So we should keep our envorment healthy.

 Pollution is the contamition of land, water and
air by harmful substances.
 Such substances are called pollutants or
contaminants.
 They may be natural or Human – made .
 Natural include volcanic eruptions, forest
fires, sandstorms and pollen grains.

6.  Human made pollutants include industrial
effluents, pesticides,automible exhausts and
honking of horns.

7.  Pollution damages our envorment.
 Air pollution, Water pollution, Noise pollution
and soil pollution are some types of pollution.

9. Air Pollution :-
 Air pollution is caused by the introduction of
harmful gases and particles in air.
 Volcanic gases, fumes from forest fires, pollen
and ash are some of the natural pollutants.

10. Human made pollutants are :-
• Poisonous gas, like carbon monoxide, realesed
from vehicles.
• Industrial emissions that contain toxic gases like
Sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxide.
• Emissions from electronic equipmens contain
chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) . They are emitted by
refregatiors and Air Conditioners ( AC).

11. • Household emissions comprise smoke produced
from burning wood and charcoal for cooking, and
bonfires.
• Radioactive emissions.

 Water pollution is caused due to the
introduction of pollutants in water body.
 Volcanic eruptions at the ocean floor floods are
natural causes of water pollution.

• Discharge of industrial wastes into rivers.
• Discharge of domestic garbage and lavatory into
water bodies.
• Oil spill in sea water.
• Runoff from farms treated with pesticids.

 Soil pollution is also known as land pollution.
 It happens when pollutants cause soil to become
infertile of unusable .
 This is why in these areas have no vegetation.

• Improper disposal of household garbage on
streets and in open drains.
• Improper disposal or leakage of harmful
chemicals in industrial areas.
• Abundant of open mines and constructions sites.
• Excessive use of fertilizers,pestisitdes and
intestacies in farming.

20. Noise Pollution:-
 Noise pollution is occurrence of loud,dispritive
and unbreable sound .
 Sound is measured in decibels.
 The comfort level of sound for humans is 20-120
decibels (dB).
 When we hear sound above 90 dB, It becomes
harmful for us.

21.  Honking of vehicles, blaring loudspeakers,
construction activates and rock concertscause
noise pollution.
 Areas near factory, airports, railway station are
commonly affected areas.

22. Radioactive Pollution:-
 Radioactive pollution is the pollution caused by
radioactive or nucellar materials.
 Some nucellar materials are uranium, radium
and plutonium.
 These may be used in the form of fuel or
weapon.

23.  If nucellar material is not disposed properly, the
it may prove extremely dangerous.
 Chernobyl disaster in Ukraine and Fukashima
