2014 Boys & Girls Club of Coffee County Douglas, GA
Chief Professional Officer/Executive Director
Contracted to assist a new Board in establishing a Boys & Girls Club location for the Greater Coffee
County region. This included overseeing the construction of a new building specifically for club use from
inception to completion, handling construction contracts, assessing building schematics, preparing for
building inspections and ensuring the building met all safety, capacity and fire codes.
Obtained over two million dollars of grant funding (21st
Century administered over 5 years) and an
additional $220,000 in funding via other sources. Established HR and operational policies and
procedures and began preliminary review and onboarding of staff.
2011-2014 Boys & Girls Club of Carbon County Rawlins, WY
Chief Professional Officer/Executive Director
Responsible for managing the strategic planning and operation of the club in support of organizational
mission and goals. Collaborate with the Board of Directors in developing organizational goals,
attaining/allocating resources, and establishing policies. Provide direction and oversight to staff in carrying
out the roles and responsibilities assigned to them.
Transitioned into current role from the founding CPO without formal transition plan. Performed initial
SWOT analysis and instituted formal redundancy back-up & training procedures within the club. Instituted
a formal review process for staff with key performance indicators that became active in 2012.
Coordinated new bond issue for a new club center in 2014 to increase space from 5000 to 10,000 square
feet. Increased club’s operating budget by $150,000. Added a site in the recreation center to allocate
space for teens. Increased school-year membership from 65 a day to 120 a day. Increased summer
memberships from a 2-year average of 40 the past two summers to an estimated 100. Improved
relationships with Boys & Girls Club National. Cleaned & reorganized club internal operations.

Oversaw unit club operations in the areas of program development & implementation; staff development;
supervision of club directors and other staff; facilities and budget management. Performed strategic
planning; internal and external reporting; resource management; partnership development; marketing &
public relations; and internal/external client relationship management. Interacted regularly with Chief
Professional Officer& Board members. Maintained contact with external community groups, schools,
advisory council & boards, and other community leaders.
Implemented strategies to plan, coordinate, supervise and evaluate all programs and youth services and

were based on the Youth Development Strategy of Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Monitored and
ensured a healthy and safe environment in all program areas. Ensured that all program areas were
adequately equipped, supplied and prepared for ready use as scheduled in a timely manner
Recruited, trained, and supervised assigned staff and program volunteers in the fulfillment of their
responsibilities. Conducted annual performance reviews for all assigned staff. Served as a fully
participating member of the Senior Leadership Team, cooperating with other leaders to assure maximum
service impact on children and youth in Club activities. Established & maintained contact with external
community groups, schools, and parents to seek their assistance and to help resolve community issues.

Performed inter-student and student-parent mediation. Served as a non-violent conflict resolution
manager for students, employees, parents, and the community. Member of the Crisis Management team,
an emergency response group that functions on-site for immediate resolution of arising issues.
Served as a behavior specialist for at-risk students by offering mediation skills to assist teachers with
recalcitrant and unruly youth. Athletic Director responsibilities included creating and implementing a
sports budget, scheduling games, and hiring of athletic staff. Additional duties included upkeep and

Lead Teacher/Interim Director of Middle Schools/Athletic Director, Academy of Oak Park
Promoted to Interim Director in 2003. Interim director obligations included proposing and managing the
school’s budget, securing public & provide funds, general financial management, hiring and firing
teachers and education staff, and implementing a bus program to transport students between Oak Park
and two neighboring charter schools. Coordinated bus routes through a central hub networked with city
maps and student home locations to ensure student walking distances were kept under a half mile.
Served as a liaison between school and community leaders.
Reviewed school income and expenses for budget compliance as well as monitoring school upkeep
and maintenance. Responsible for interviewing prospective staff, coordinating drug tests and securing the
drug test facility. Served as a behavior specialist for at-risk. Reviewed teacher learning, tracking & testing
tools to ensure compliance with the Michigan Framework Curriculum. Created and implemented a sports
budget, scheduled games, and hired athletic staff.
Promoted to a Lead Teacher in 2002. Instructed 7th
grade classrooms of up to 24 students in history
and social studies. Created lesson plans, instructional activities, homework exercises, and organized
parent-teacher conferences. Oversaw the submission of teacher learning tools. Performed inter-student
and student-parent mediation. Served as a programming coordinator for a twenty-one-teacher middle
school faculty by creating committees and coordinating middle school events such as promotion
ceremonies and pep rallies.
