Tata Power plans to invest around Rs. 5,000 crore in wind energy by 2017 to increase its clean energy generation capacity to 8,000 MW or 25% of its total. Mahindra & Mahindra will launch 7 new vehicles over the next 15-18 months, including new SUVs, and invest over Rs. 7,000 crore from 2011-2013 focusing on multi- and sports-utility vehicles. McCormick, a global leader in spices, acquired a 26% stake in Eastern Condiments for $36 million to expand in India.

2. Tata Power to invest around Rs 5,000 cr in
wind energy by 2017
 Ratan Tata-led Tata Power aims to have at
least a 25 per cent of its power generation or
around 8,000 MW from clean sources by 2017.
 Tata Power will invest around Rs 5,000 crore in
wind-energy alone.
 Tata Power presently has a little over 200 MW
of wind capacity.

3. M&M lines up 7 new vehicles over 18
months
 Mahindra & Mahindra has lined seven new
products in the passenger vehicle segment and
these new cars will hit roads in 15-18 months.
 The list includes an all-new premium SUV from its
own stable and two from the recently-acquired
Korean company Ssangyong.
 Mahindra & Mahindra has lined up investments in
excess of Rs 7,000 crore over 2011-13. Company
will focus on the multi- and sports-utility space.

but in India it is still at 15%.

5. McCormick buys 26% in ECPL
 McCormick is Global leader in manufacture-
marketing of spices, herbs and seasonings.
 McCormick has bought 26% stake in Eastern
Condiments (ECPL). ECPL is a major Indian
spices and seasonings dealer.
 McCormick has bought this stake for $36
million.

6. Tata International to open 20 footwear retail
outlets by end-FY'11
 The global trading arm of the Tata Group , Tata
International is planning to set up 15-20 exclusive
footwear retail showrooms by end-FY'11.
 Tata International launched its first specialty footwear
store 'TASHI' and envisages a chain of over 250-300 such
stores.
 The Indian footwear retail market stands at Rs 16,000
crore (both organized and unorganized) and it is growing
at a Compounded Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 15 per
cent.

7. TCL re-enters India by selling 24-inch HDTV
for Rs 14.5K
 TCL, China’s largest TV maker will enter Indian TV
market next year by selling 24-inch high-definition
LCD televisions for Rs 14,500.
 TCL will be selling HDTVs 20% cheaper than 22-
inch flat panel TVs of LG, Samsung and Sony.
 The television industry has seen dramatic shift
towards high-end technology in the past 4-5 years
with rising disposable incomes of consumers.
