Toyota is all set to make a pitch for the Indian car market
as it launches Etios, the entry-level sedan, at an
aggressive entry price of around Rs 5.25 lakh.
The car, the most ambitious product from Toyota’s
stable, has been specifically designed keeping in mind
India and other emerging markets and will take on well-
established models like Maruti Dzire , Tata Indigo and
Honda City .
The carmaker’s seriousness with Etios, for which it has
invested Rs 3,200 crore on a new plant near Bangalore
with an annual capacity of 70,000, can be gauged by the
fact that it will be launched by Toyota’s global president
Akio Toyoda.
INDIA'S COFFEE CONSUMPTION TO EXCEED 1-LAKH
TON MARK IN 2010'
India's coffee consumption , which has been
growing at an annual rate of by 5-6 per cent, is
likely to exceed the 1-lakh tonne mark in the current
year.
India had consumed 94,400 tonnes of coffee in
2008 and 97,000 tonnes in 2009.
According to the Indian Coffee Board, domestic
coffee consumption is increasing 5-6 per cent
annually.
SAMSUNG NON-COMMITAL ON SETTING UP SOLAR
PHOTOVOLTAIC UNIT
Consumer electronics giant Samsung today
remained non-committal on the Tamil Nadu
Government's request to set up a solar photovoltaic
cell manufacturing facility in the state.
Samsung is currently present only in consumer
electronic products in India.
ADANI GROUP WAITS TO GET ORISSA GOVT'S NOD
A delegation from the Adani Group which proposed
to invest about Rs 1 lakh crore in a port project in
Orissa.
The Ahmedabad-based company had in February
submitted a proposal to set up a large port, an
industrial zone including a power plant at an
investment of Rs 98,000 crore.
LAVASA EXPRESSES SHOCK AT ENVIRONMENT
MINISTRY'S NOTICE
Pune-based Lavasa Corporation , a subsidiary of HCC ,
expressed shock over the Environment Ministry
showcause notice to it for allegedly carrying out
construction activities without approval.
Lavasa Corporation Ltd is shocked at the receipt of a
'stop work' notice from the Ministry of External Affairs on
November 26.
Lavasa, engaged in the building and management of a
hill-city near Pune, also said it has already responded to
issues raised by the Environment Ministry.
I-T DEPT INTRODUCES NEW NUMBER FOR
TAXPAYERS FOR TAX FILING
Taxpayers will now have to procure a 'new number' for
filing returns and making any communication with the
Income Tax department.
The unique Document identification number (DIN), on
the lines of numbers like PAN and TAN, will be quoted
on every income tax-related communication, including
returns to be filed next year for the financial year 2010-
11.
According to the new guidelines brought out by the
Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), the DIN will be
mandatory in respect of every notice, order, letter or any
correspondence with the department, by the taxpayers.
