3. TREATMENT
After I have done my lyrical analysis I have learnt that the song
is about staying out with friends and not wanting to go home.
Based on my lyrical analysis I am going to base my idea around
this. I have came up with one specific idea. I have decided to
start of my video I will be having the main female getting ready
to go out then I will be following her out the house and all away
down the street I will perhaps then get her to meet up with some
of her friends from then on out they will be doing various
different activities. While the main female is walking and will get
her to do some lip syncing to the song. I have thought about this
being the beginning of my music video because it’s what normal
teenagers do getting ready making sure that they look
presentable so I thought I would translate this. I have thought in
great detail what I want the different activities to be when the
main female is with her friends I have narrowed these down to
six different activities. I don’t think I will be doing all six of the
activities because I don’t want the music video to be crammed
with lots of things going on because by doing that I personally
don’t think it will look good at all.
4. The first activity that I was very keen on was to go to a café to meet
friends. The reason why I like this idea is because it’s a good way
to meet up with your friends and just relax a little and just mess
about and laugh. One shot that I was hoping to get was to get the
main girl and her friends sitting at the table laughing and joking and
just having some fun in general. Another idea that I think would be a
good is filming them going into a clothing shop and looking at things
to buy and trying things on like hats. This I think ties in well with a
typical teenager because that’s what teenagers do have a laugh
when going shopping and in general. Both of these ideas link in
with each other and it will be easy to do I think.
5. Another idea that I am also very keen on is, having the main girl
being in the music video and her friends going to the pub and
having a few drinks there and again having a laugh etc… this
again is what typical teenagers tend to do go out drinking. I don’t
want the people being in the music video to be drunk but just to
be having a few drinks and using the pub as a social gathering. I
was also hoping to get a few shots of them playing pool. One of
the shots that I like a lot is having the balls all in order in a
triangle like the image at the bottom and having the camera
there and then getting the main person to shoot at them balls I
think that would be a good shot to have and then get them
actually playing pool as well as having a few drinks. I like the
fact that these both again tie in with each other and I also think
that it will again be relatively easy to replicate the ideas and
camera shots that I have. When at the pub I could also maybe
get the main female to go to the toilets to fix her hair and sort out
her make up as well as lip syncing to the lyrics as well.
6. Bowling is another idea I have. I was thinking of getting a few
shots of them playing bowling and get a shot of them entering
the names in at the top. I think that this would be good to have
because it’s a fun thing to do and its good to get a bit of
competition going on. I think that this bowling idea is a good idea
to have, as much as I’m keen on this idea I prefer the other four
ideas a lot more because they tie in with each other a lot better.
The final idea that I have is to get them going to the cinema. I
think that this would be a lot more harder to do more than the
other ideas because the cinema might think that I am pirating
the film that is playing etc… I have an idea that I can get around
this and I could perhaps film them going in the cinema then
coming out of it with popcorn in there hands. I am thinking of
maybe just filming all of these ideas then when it comes to
editing using the best footage because at least that way I wont
be short of footage and I can pick and choose what I want to
add in there and what I’m not so keen on.
7. I am also keen on taking photos and adding them into the music video as still images this I think is a good idea
because I could get pictures of them at the cinema and at bowling so it looks like they have done these activities
without showing the actual footage. I could have the pictures overlapping each other. This is also what
teenagers do when they are having fun they take pictures so again it ties in well with my main concept of having
fun. I would have them individually coming up on the screen then overlapping each other. I have got some
images from the internet and I have overlapped them as an example of how I want them to look like. It will be
like a collage.
8. After the main female and her friends have had fun doing these activities I will get the main female to say
goodbye to her friends then I will get to start walking home again and then when she is at home get her to
go upstairs and shut her bedroom door with he on the other side. I think that, that would be a good idea to
have altogether as a whole because it’s a bit like creating a story and you will clearly be able to see what a
typical teenager gets up to which I think all of the ideas that I have came up with can easily be done well.
9. Mise-En-Scene
The mise-en-scene that I want the whole music video to create
is that I want it to be very casual. I want the main girl in the
music video to be wearing casual clothes like leggings, jumper
and converse shoes and the hair will be down maybe. I want the
main female to feel comfortable with what she wears, because if
she’s wearing something uncomfortable then I think it will show
in the music video. The main mise-en-scene for the female I am
thinking are leggings, jumper and converse. Or maybe wearing
a dress, jacket, leggings and boots. When the main girl is getting
ready it will be in a normal teenage bedroom with a bed and
wardrobes etc… which will be easily accessible.
10. Location
At the beginning at of the music video the main female is at
home getting ready so I’m thinking either using her house or
using my own to film that and her walking out of the house. For
the other activities I would go where ever is available. For
example I was thinking Costa Coffee for the café but that will
determine if its busy in there or not if it busy then I could go to
another café like Mugs. Same with the shopping I would go to a
store that’s not too busy and not too quite. Going to the pub and
bowling it doesn’t really matter how busy or quite it is.
11. Lighting and Mood
The mood will stay the same throughout the whole music
video, everyone will be happy and having fun. There won’t be
any sad scenes or emotional ones. The lighting throughout the
film I am hoping it to have natural light, I will however use
different effects throughout the music video this is so that it
mixes it up a bit and it doesn’t seem boring. I think occasionally
having footage that has an effect not only makes it a bit more
interesting it also helps to set the mood. I have added some
pictures that I have found that have the effects that I am thinking of
adding in my music video. I might use these effects for my picture
idea if it doesn’t work with actual footage.
